[JAWS-Users] application to open NZB file type downloaded from newsgroups

2007-02-05 Thread Thao Vy
Hi,
Does anybody know what application can be used to open nzb files? And can
someone please also explain to what nzb files are? I downloaded some NZB files
from one of the forums, and from what I understand I have to have some kind of
programs to import the nzb files, enable for me to download the main files
from the newsgroup. I heard there is a software called NewsLeechers, but that
software is not that accessible with JAWS. Again, could someone please help
me find a software that similar to NewsLeechers, but accessible with JAWS?
Thanks, and sorry, if this message may not be that cleared because I still not
quite sure what NZB files are all about.

2007-02-05 Thread Robert S. Batchelor
Try doing a google search for .nzb and you will get this:

NZB

>From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation
, search

NZB is a free file format
that makes it easier for users to locate and download materials from Usenet
. NZB created by the owners of the
Internet site Newzbin.com and is
based on XML . The
NZB format works by each file containing a list of unique message-IDs that a
compatible news client can then
use to identify, locate and download specific articles. These articles
contain file parts that once downloaded can be assembled by the news client
into working files. Using NZBs files can be added directly to a download
queue of a news client, without any header retrieval necessary. Without
NZBs, a user must first download the full headers for all the postings in a
group, then search these thousands or even millions of message headers to
find the desired subject.

[JAWS-Users] Re: where do you find info on Jaws and other programs

2007-02-05 Thread Flor Lynch
The DAISY books being referred to are those in which the training materials are
reproduced. you thus have installed them.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] where do you find info on Jaws and other programs

  Hi list,
I need a reminder. Where do you go, in order to find out what programs Jaws
work with? There is a section in the Jaws menu/folder which gives you a list of
programs Jaws works with, along with Jaws commands to work the program. I went
into the Jaws menu, into help and into the section "what's new in Jaws...", but
couldn't find the section I need. Secondly, I originally downloaded Jaws 7.0
from the FS website. I therefore didn't receive the training materials. Before
upgrading to Jaws 8.0, I wanted to install these training materials, just
incase I need to return to Jaws 7.0. I did a repair of Jaws 7.0 using the
software CD. When I go into help and then training, I enter on FS reader demo
etc. I hear the guy from FS talking and he tells you about the FS reader. Can I
assume then, I have installed the training materials successfully? The reason I
ask, is the FS guy talks about accessing DAISY books on the software CD. If I
have installed them, wouldn't these DAISY books now be on my computer. I am
using Windows XP, if that is relevant and Jaws 7.0. Like I said, I will be
upgrading to 8.0, but want to keep 7.0 as a back-up.
  Thanks a lot
  Jason
