[JAWS-Users] Re: turning off the monitor-Wizmo

2007-03-05 Thread Stu

I put wizmo on the lap top and I put it in the windows directory, didn't put
the shortcut on the desktop but I go to the run dialog type in Wizmo space
then either blackout or monoff either works and the screen goes off but when
I hit any key the screen comes back on. Is their any way to keep the screen
off while I am doing something on the lap top?

Hi Stu,
If you don't come up with a solution from the computer itself,
I believe you can use Wizmo to blank the screen.
You can pickup a copy from:

Since jaws tells me everything I need to know and I can't see the screen
anyhow I always keep the monitor off on the desktop and if I have a sighted
person here that needs to see it it is no problem to turn it on. Now for the
question I have, I have a laptop I use at church and I was curious if their
is a way to turn off the screen. I think it is a distraction for the people
when I am teaching Sunday school or at times when I am doing the Sunday
service. Sure would appreciate the information if their is a way to turn it
off.

[JAWS-Users] Speaking Caps.

Hi Folks,

Every time I attempt to change Jaws 7 or 8 from the default
of reading caps by character to either read caps by word or
by line Jaws defaults back to reading by character.
How do I fix this damn thing?

Thanks in advance.

Do you want to compact or not it was unclear here..
if you want to just do it when it prompts you and wait till it's done, or
just should be able to tab to a cancel button?

It's just way to free up disk space, I've never had any trouble doing it.

Hi Larry,

Depending on the version of windows media player you're using, you will need
to download another component of the programme in order for it to work.
I've never had any luck with burning CDs in that programme however and I
know most people swear by Nero.

One of the others would have to guide you on that though.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws MSN and Flash player

2007-03-05 Thread jason smith
Hi list,
have had a problem with using Jaws and MSN messenger. When chatting to a
friend, a message came up saying I needed to install flash player, in order to
use winks etc. I thought this was funny, as although I don't use winks etc, my
friends have been sending them to me for a while and Jaws has had no problems
reporting them to me. I therefore thought this new Flash player was an update.
However, choosing cancel on the download didn't do anything, the message kept
coming up. By choosing download didn't seem to install the software. I got a
family member to help me and after a lot of trouble, they seemed to get it
installed. The funny thing is, I only got this install message with one friend.
I could chat to other friends just like normal, without any problems. This one
friend though, I would hear her writing, but Jaws wouldn't read her messages.
Similarly, Jaws would read my messages as I typed them, but when I pressed
enter to send it, it wouldn't report my message was being sent. If I tried to
read back through my sent and received messages, Jaws would report there were
no messages. My friend though, was receiving my messages fine, so they were
going through. I have had no problems messaging this friend in the past. It
only started two days ago. Like I said, I can message other friends fine, but
with this one friend I have these issues. Has anyone experienced this? In
addition, the download said that Flash Player would be installed into Internet
Explorer. Is there a way I can check to see if this program is actually there?
I am using Jaws 8.0 and XP home.
Thanks a lot
Jason
