Is there a way for me to continue getting my emails while I'm out of town?
Since I use outlook express, my guess would be no. So I'm thinking it has
 to
be done through my server's web site, is this correct?

 Thanks,

Lisa,

I don't advise deleting the Windows temp files, but they are mainly located
in the, c:\windows\system32 folder. Plus there may be others scattered around
in various applications. But again, unless you know what you are deleting, I
don't advise it.
The Internet temp files are located in, c:\documents and settings\(your
profile name)\local settings\temporary Internet files. This is where your temp
files and cookies are stored. Most of these files provide faster loading of
visited web pages. I don't see that it affects the performance of your PC by
removing them.

  Lisa,
Sorry it has taken me a couple of days to get back to you.
The, %temp% command will delete the temp files in the root directory. It
doesn't remove the Windows temp files or the Internet temp files.
As for the cookies, that is up to you whether you want to delete them or
not. Deleting them won't do anything to enhance the performance of your PC.

Thank you for these other computer maintenance tasks. I will make them a

Lisa,
You can perform 3 of the tasks mentioned.
1. Check Disk
Go to run and type in,
chkdsk /f (drive letter): and press enter. Note the colon after the
drive letter. Unlike running a check disk on your C drive, you won't need to
reboot for this to perform.

2. Scan Disk
Per form the scan disk just as you would on the C drive, but of course
highlighting the drive you want to scan as opposed to the C drive. Then just
follow the instructions as you would for the C drive. Again, you won't have to
reboot for this to run.

3. Defrag
Perform as you would for the C drive but again, highlight the drive you
want to defrag.

One more step that I didn't include in those instructions is cleaning
up the temp files.
This should be performed on the C

[JAWS-Users] Re: Question about computer maintenance

2007-04-14 Thread rj
Go into my computer and enter on the C: drive. hit w for windows and enter. Hit
t until you get to the TMP and Temp folder. Went you enter on either folder
temp or temp you can highlight all the files in the list view and delete
everything there. If you have a index.dat file highlight everything except that
file. For the only way you can delete the index.dat file is to set up another
admin user delete it in XP or go to dos in 98c and delete the index.dat
file from there by using the command deltree at the C:\windows prompt. The
command is in 98C is deltree cookies, Deltree tmp, Deltree tempor~1, and
deltree history.

  Lisa,

I don't advise deleting the Windows temp files, but they are mainly
located in the, c:\windows\system32 folder. Plus there may be others scattered
around in various applications. But again, unless you know what you are
deleting, I don't advise it.

It doesn't remove the Windows temp files or the Internet temp files.
As for the cookies, that is up to you whether you want to delete them
or not. Deleting them won't do anything to enhance the performance of your PC.

Yep. It is a stand alone email client like Popcorn but with more faetures. I
can't think of anything that you might need to know to use the client
except that I can't figure out how to get it to leave my messages on the
server for retrieval at a later time. I hope you know what I am talking

your email account. It is completely accessible with Jaws.

Welcome Roger to the list, to you as well as all the new members who have

encourage each and every one of you to take a minute and read the
guidelines. I only point this out because as of yet I haven't been able
 to
get google to automatically send them out to all new members the way Yahoo
did. This is a good group in my opinion at least, and those of us who run
 it
are pleased with the move to google even though there were a few trade

that had to be made. Thanks for joining and enjoy the list.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Email?

2007-04-14 Thread Dale Leavens

Isn't there some way to make Outlook or Outlook Express access Web mail?

I don't have any trouble receiving and reading e-mail from anywhere in the
world once I have a connection but only occasionally can I send it. I am
told this is because my server only authenticates from my local domain to
prevent others spamming from my address. I think this is not absolutely
correct since I was able to send email from Houston but certainly when I was
traveling through Alberta and British Columbia last summer I could not.

I find it very awkward to compose, check and send using those Web interfaces
and don't much like even reading and deleting messages that way but if
Popcorn and Thunderbird can do it I don't understand why OE cannot.

The best way to remove those temp files is to go to the control panel, Internet
opetions, general tab and clear history. Any files it remeoves following this
procedure is safe. I don't recommend deleting files directly from the temp
folder under your profile unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Lisa,

I don't advise deleting the Windows temp files, but they are mainly
located in the, c:\windows\system32 folder. Plus there may be others scattered
around in various applications. But again, unless you know what you are
deleting, I don't advise it.

It doesn't remove the Windows temp files or the Internet temp files.
As for the cookies, that is up to you whether you want to delete them
or not. Deleting them won't do anything to enhance the performance of your PC.

What you are talking about changes from one internet provider to another
and most of them now force you to send through their smtp server in
order to send mail. For example, I'm on ATT yahoo and even on my yahoo
account I have to use smtp.sbcglobal.net to send something from the
yahoo account. really it don't matter because it's still saying that
it's from the other account when the person uses it. I know this isn't
any help, but maybe it will help to understand things a little better.
And yes, this is done to prevent spamming.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS Not Reading Some Words

2007-04-14 Thread Donnie Parrett

This week I have created several rules for folders with sound in Outlook. Ever
since I have done
this I have noticed that JAWS frequently does not speak words that I know are
there. Sometimes it
won't be a whole word but just the end of a word. Or at other times, it might
even be several
words. Does anyone know what my problem might be? I am using JAWS 7.0 and
Windows XP. I can't
tell that this problem pops up at any certain time or place. It happens all of
a sudden when I
least expect it.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Email?

2007-04-14 Thread Jimmy Podsim

Nope, not unless you know the smtp server name of the provider your
connected to, then you use it to send your emails. Of course, if it
requires a password, then your stuck. The only way to do it then would
be web mail.

2007-04-14 Thread Donnie Parrett

Hey Marilyn,

I am using Outlook 2000. Here's what I do:

1. Go to Tools menu
2. Go to Options
3. Select Email Options from the Preference Page
4. You will land on a combo box which is called After moving or deleting an
open item Here you
will have 3 choices:
 a. Open the previous item
 b. Open the next item
 c. Return to the in box
5. Make sure you have selected Return to the in box and not Open next item
I hope this helps.

Rick's got a really nice set of tutorials.

Just by way of a tip, I found it a lot easier to designate a folder off my
root calledfiles for conversion and copy whatever I want to convert into
it before running the batch converter, since Goldwave keeps its defaults.
