[JAWS-Users] Re: Help with bookmarks.

2007-01-02 Thread rich hamel

I tried using the book marks in Word and the instructions worked well.
If it wasn't mentioned, when closing out of Word, you must Save the changes
in order for the book marks to stay.

Thanks again. This really helped

Thanks a bunch.
This really saves time and effort in I.E.
I assume the place marker will stay in place indefinitely.

I wish the MS Word was as easy.

Rich,
I might add that when you do the control shift K to add a place marker
in
IE, you will have to tab one time to, add, and press enter. Then you
can

type in the name of the place marker or use the default title. And then
press enter.

I have JAWS 6.0 and XP.
My goal is to read a few pages of a document each day.
One book is in I.E. and the other book is a document I down loaded to My
Documents , in "Word".
Each reading is over 125 pages.
My question is how can I mark where I leave off each day so that I can
go

to
that location the next time I open it?

Thank you for any help.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Help with bookmarks.

2007-01-01 Thread Annette Carr

Hi,

For the book you are reading in I.E. you can use a JAWS Temporary Place
Marker. This can be done by pressing Control+k at the point that you want
to mark. The next time you open the file in I.E. press k to move to the
place marker. Then when you want to mark a new place just press the
Control+k command and it will clear the old marker and put the new mark in
place.

The only thing I have come up with for bookmarks in MS-Word is to put a
string of 2 or 3 characters at the point that I want to come back to. Then
the next time I open the document I do a search for that string of
characters to move to it. Remember to remove the prior string, and to save
your document before exiting.

There is some type of Bookmark feature in MS-Word, but I don't know how to
use it, and have not had time to learn about it

HTH,
Annette

[JAWS-Users] Re: Help with bookmarks.

2007-01-01 Thread Denny Huff

Rich,
In IE, you can do a control shift K to put a place marker where you left off
in your reading. Then the next time you go to that page, just type the
letter K and it will cycle you to the different place markers you have. You
can also delete the place markers whenever you want to.

In Word, you can set a bookmark by doing an alt I for insert and then type
the letter K for bookmark or just arrow up to bookmark and press enter.
When you enter the name of the bookmark, you can't have any spaces in the
name.
Then tab to add and press enter.
To go to that bookmark, do an f5, shift tab one time and arrow down to
bookmarks and press enter. This will bring up a list of bookmarks. Arrow to
the bookmark you want and press enter.

HTH
