Subject: [JAWS-Users] jaws and OE

hello all. lately I have had a problem with jaws and OE and also the desk
top. what happens is that some times I will be going through the messages
and jaws will say top of window and bottom of window and then when I un load
it and re load it it starts up and then it just dings I arrow up and down
the messages if there are un red messages it will just say un red and still
ding. This happens with the desk top as well it will read the items on the
desk top but not be for dingging be for reading each one. needless to say it
is quite maddening and annoying. I have brought this up on this list be for
but no one seemed to have a ancer then so maybe they will this time around.
I am using Jaws 7.0 and windows xp home. I have found that the only way I
can stop this is to re start the pc but some times even after re starting it
just keeps on doing it. Please help. from Mich Verrier from New Liskeard
Ontario Canada.

[JAWS-Users] Re: jaws and OE

2007-03-08 Thread david the wild_thing!

Hello;
Mich;

is this possibly what your refering too?

***

Details of Selected Bulletin
Bulletin Type: TSN

Date Posted: 07/10/2006

Product Name: JAWS

Version: 7.10

Category: Configuration Manager

Short Description:

How to permanently turn off the Top and Bottom Edge Alert

Problem:

When you are in a list view or in an application, your computer plays a
sound when you reach the top or bottom of the list view or document. For
example,
in Notepad, if the cursor is positioned at the top of the file and you press
the UP ARROW key, your computer plays a sound to notify you that you are at
the top of the file and cannot move up any further.

In the JAWS Verbosity settings, there is a setting for Top and Bottom Edge
Alert, which is on by default. You can turn this setting off, and you will
no
longer hear the sounds to notify you if you are already at the top or bottom
of the file or list view. However, there are some other areas of Windows
where
you will still hear the Top and Bottom Edge alerts. These alerts may be
undesired or interfere with activities such as recording. If you want to
disable
all top and bottom edge alerts, it can be done by modifying the Default.jcf
file.

Solution:

To permanently turn off Top and Bottom Edge Alerts, do the following:
list of 8 items
1. Open the Start menu and choose Programs or All Programs, JAWS 7.10,
Explore JAWS, Explore Shared Settings.
2. Locate the Default.jcf file
3. Press the RIGHT CONTEXT MENU key, navigate to the Open With choice, and
select Notepad.
4. Press CTRL+F to open the Find dialog, type "TopAndBottom" and then press
ENTER.
5. Press ESC to close the Find dialog box. The cursor will be on the line of
text that reads "TopAndBottom Edge Alert=1."
6. Delete the value of 1, and replace it with the number 0. The line should
now read as "TopAndBottom Edge=0."
7. Save the file and exit Notepad.
8. Restart JAWS for the change to take effect.

I made this change, no clunking sounds, in lists, or top and bottom,
documents.

[JAWS-Users] Re: jaws and OE

2007-03-08 Thread david the wild_thing!

Hello Mich;

if you want to take the easy approach,
each program you access, example,
OE, msword, notepad, etc, use, the insert+v, arrow to the top&bottom, edge
alert, press spacebar, when it says off, tab to close.

the other steps I gave, are, globally.
