 Anita,

Could you have accidentally typed Control-Shift-A? It marks all as
read. I've done it a time or two and really gotten a surprise.

Re: [JAWS-Users] using Jaws with blackboard system

2007-08-31 Thread Tim
Don't think that is the problem. Because i have used blackBoard with
different versions of jaws and with no problems. i think the problem
is a lack of understanding the interface and wanting to do the job.

Jason and all, I have an opinion on this. If the university in question
knows darn well that Blackboard is difficult for all students, not just VI
students, then why are they using it in the first place? Couldn't they just
use Moodle or some other VLE instead? At least with Moodle JAWS can access
it no problem as there's no Java, as far as I can tell anyway. Sorry for the

Hi list, especially those uni students on the list. I have been having a

[JAWS-Users] cant select and copy update

Sorry that the message was sent before completion. I have no idea what is going

clipboard. for some reason Jaws told me that the characters were being selected
but control c said nothing selected. I don't know if it is something with jaws,
my computer or the site. I don't believe that it is the site. The way that the
message was prematurely sent bothers me. I was creating the email and also had

the message. I went to hit alt d and accidentally hit alt s. Now I was in the

 Joe:
My experience with Jaws 7 was that using it with a PDF form was
 problematic
to say the least. I'd suggest updating both your Jaws to version 8, and
Acrobat to whatever their current version is, 7 I believe. This is what I
am running and I routinely fill out forms.

Re: [JAWS-Users] cant select and copy update

2007-08-31 Thread Lenny McHugh
Thanks, I thought I was losing it. I had the problem for about an hour
before I tried to get some help. As a last resort I did a shut down and
restart and it is again working. I wonder what got corrupted jaws or IE.
Somehow I tend to think jaws because I was being told that the characters
were being selected. Just went down hill from there.

Sorry that the message was sent before completion. I have no idea what is
going on. On the link of the last message I tried to use alt d to display
the address then select the portion up to and including .com then control
c to copy to clipboard. for some reason Jaws told me that the characters
were being selected but control c said nothing selected. I don't know if
it is something with jaws, my computer or the site. I don't believe that
it is the site. The way that the message was prematurely sent bothers me.
I was creating the email and also had the page up. I went back to the page
for an additional try before I completed the message. I went to hit alt d
and accidentally hit alt s. Now I was in the internet explorer window
however the alt s immediately sent the message. It's too early but I need
a glass of something harder than ice tea.
Any ideas why my control c is not working and why alt s worked when not in
 my email??

Don't think that is the problem. Because i have used blackBoard with

is a lack of understanding the interface and wanting to do the job.

Sorry for

[JAWS-Users] replying to sender

2007-08-31 Thread Lenny McHugh
Hi All,
On another list I am having a problem replying to sender. With the message
open I use insert + shift + R to reply to sender.
The first time I get the reply message with a blank to field. I then close the

field. The third time it works with the to field correctly filled in.
I am using jaws 8.0.2173 Windows Xp Home.

I'm trying to remember who did a blackboard tutorial or who was trained to

took one, but for the life of me cannot remember the web site!
I'd recognize it if I heard it.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] how the heck does this keep happening?

Hey everyone. I'm on amazon.com and as I'm going to select a size for a
blanket, jaws seems to kill the internet window and put me at my desktop.
I don't think I'm doing anythign out of the ordinary but it would be nice
to know i'm not the only one. I'm hoping not. Talk soon.

Re: [JAWS-Users] using Jaws with blackboard system

2007-08-31 Thread Flor Lynch
The original questioner was looking for *tips with JAWS*, and then commented
on a local consensus that it wasn't just a problem for JAWS users. So, give
JAWS tips with Blackboard learning system, if you can, this being a
jaws-users list. I can't, not having used it ever.

Its not me with the problems in class. Those issues he can work out
with his consular or disability specialist.

Don't think that is the problem. Because i have used blackBoard with
different versions of jaws and with no problems. i think the problem
is a lack of understanding the interface and wanting to do the job.

Jason and all, I have an opinion on this. If the university in question
knows darn well that Blackboard is difficult for all students, not just
 VI
students, then why are they using it in the first place? Couldn't they
 just
use Moodle or some other VLE instead? At least with Moodle JAWS can
 access
it no problem as there's no Java, as far as I can tell anyway. Sorry for
 the
ranting, but there goes my two pence worth anyway, smiles.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] using Jaws with blackboard system

Hi list, especially those uni students on the list. I have been having
   a
lot of problems accessing my uni website for my Psychology studies.
   The
uni has began using a thing called blackboard learning system. it
   uses
some Java and so obviously gives Jaws problems. Have any of the
   students
on list been able to master this system. I am able(with a lot of use
   of
the Jaws cursor), able to get into things I need to, but it is very
   time
consuming. Have spoken to the I.T guys at the uni. They help as much
   as
they can, but they even say it is a problem even for students in
   general,
   not just with Jaws.
   Any tips will be helpful.
   thanks Jason
   P.S I have XP home and Jaws 8 and I.E 6.

Re: [JAWS-Users] replying to sender

2007-08-31 Thread Lenny McHugh
Hi Flor,
Thanks for the tip. It worked a little better. I maximized OE and then used
Insert shift R and the group address was put into the to field. I canceled
the reply. Again opened the message and again insert, shift R and the
correct address was filled in.
Lenny

Before you activate the Reply Directly To Sender keystroke, make sure that
the message window is maximized. If the window's not maximized, the script
won't work.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] replying to sender

Hi All,
On another list I am having a problem replying to sender. With the message
open I use insert + shift + R to reply to sender.
The first time I get the reply message with a blank to field. I then close
the message and re-open and try to reply to sender again, and again have a
blank to field. The third time it works with the to field correctly filled
in.
I am using jaws 8.0.2173 Windows Xp Home.
Any suggestions?
