Re: [JAWS-Users] Automatic Bullets and numbering

2007-11-04 Thread Larry Stansifer
Hi Ann,

Sometimes that works and sometimes you end up with an extra line space and
more bullets or numbers.
With all of the automatic features disabled you can always highlight the
text you want bulleted or numbered, go to Bullets and Numbering in the
format menu, highlight your selection, press enter on it and you are done.

If you press enter twice after the last numbered thing, Word will
stop sequencing. Just hitting enter once makes a new number appear,
but twice stops the process. And of course you can backspace over a
number to get rid of it.

In a resume, how do you highlight just the lines in the resume with shift
down-arrow? Then would the bullet be inserted prior to the first character
of the first line of the block of highlighted text?

Dear all,

I am having a slight problem when typing in any application. I cannot get
JAWS to announce upper case characters in an increased pitch. I have gone
into the global adjustment menu and set the upper case pitch increase
setting between 20, 50 and 100 per cent, and still the capital letters sound
no different when I am typing.

I would appreciate any help from anyone on the list who has experienced this
problem.

2007-11-04 Thread Chris Hallsworth
But hang on, once you've muted the sound, it will stay muted till you
unmute it, even if you restart your computer. This is why I'm asking
how could one possibly hear system sounds, as well as other sounds,
such as speech, if the sound's muted in the first place? They can't.
Just my two pence worth.

4: tab twice and press the spacebar. this should unmute all. if jaws
is running, it should start talking. if this doesn't work, you may
have a video intercept error on the screen. something to try before
you do the above steps, try pressing windows key plus the letter u

That

Hi, I had this problem, and the only way was to remove the mouse from
device manager and restart my computer. My mouse pad is now disabled
and has remained so until I re-enable it through Mouse Properties in
Control Panel. Hope that helps.

Again but cannot find it. Can you help? I am using JAWS 8 and xp.

But hang on, once you've muted the sound, it will stay muted till you
unmute it, even if you restart your computer. This is why I'm asking
how could one possibly hear system sounds, as well as other sounds,
such as speech, if the sound's muted in the first place? They can't.
 Just my two pence worth.

wait till the hard drive stops before proceeding with the below
instructions. Just my two pence worth.

if its muted, here's what to do:

1: reboot the system and after you hear the windows start sound, wait

2: press the letter r for the run command
3: type in sndvol32.exe and press enter.
4: tab twice and press the spacebar. this should unmute all. if jaws
is running, it should start talking. if this doesn't work, you may
have a video intercept error on the screen. something to try before
you do the above steps, try pressing windows key plus the letter u

If possible, I'd try uninstalling JAWS and reinstalling, or

That

Yes if you have the Jaws icon on the desktop. But the surest way to do this
is to go to the run dialog with Windows Key+R and then for instance type
jaws90 and that should do it. That is how I usually restart my Jaws.

Sometimes when you install a new version of JAWS, it doesn't speak at
start-up because the option to run at start-up isn't checked. Can
you start JAWS using either alt-control-J or going to the desktop and
 pressing J then enter??

 All,

As we get nearer to the release of JAWS 9, one of the things we create
to go with the product is a DAISY book on what's new in the version.
This book installs from the Program CD when you get it and you can
review this DAISY Book with the FS Reader Demo product that is used to
do all the training material shipped with JAWS.

We also provide mp3 files for most of our training material if you would
like to listen to it on the go and today, we posted the mp3 version of
the What's New recording on the JAWS headquarters page. If you'd like to
give it a listen, you can download it now from:

Yes if you have the Jaws icon on the desktop. But the surest way
 to do this
is to go to the run dialog with Windows Key+R and then for instance type
jaws90 and that should do it. That is how I usually restart my Jaws.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Creating more than one header in a single document?

2007-11-04 Thread Griffiths, Steve
Debbie,

This is exactly what section breaks are for. If you put a next page
section break in a document instead of a hard page break, you will find
you can create headers and footers for each section. To insert a section
break go to the Insert menu and choose Break, and on the dialogue that
appears, choose Next page. In Word 2007 the keystrokes Alt, I, B still
get the Break dialogue.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Creating more than one header in a single
document?

Hi:

I know how to create a header, but I want a different header after
entering a hard page break. For example the beginning of the document
would have todays date on every printed page. Next if I then hit
ctrl+enter, and wanted tomorrows date on the next header, wouldn't the
same header end up on the page? How can I get the new pages in the
document to reflect tomorrow's date? Sorry if this is unclear! Thanks
for the help, Deb.
