[JAWS-Users] JAWS9 and thunderbird 2

2007-11-30 Thread Christopher Bruinenberg
Hi,
I wanted to ask people. I have jaws9 installed. It wont read messages
that I have composed but jaws8 will.
Is there a fix to this for Jaws9? I don't want to have to switch all
the time back to jaws8. 9 is so much easier to use with vista.

Thanks for your help!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 9.0 and Windows Vista.

2007-11-30 Thread Mark Faben
Hi,

New to the list here too. Rather than taking the plunge into Vista
yet, which at least the recieved opinion over here is that as yet
there is precious little to gain by doing so, but much to lose, can't
you find a new XP machine; They're certain stil availible over her in
the UK, as the public has totally given vista the hands down, and
retailers have had to respond by having XP machines still availble in
order to be able to still shift their stock. Depending on what
external hardware you've got a lot probably won't still work with
Vista as yet, I know half my audio gear is only partially or not at
all Vista supported.

Hello, My name is Liz, and I am new to this list.

In the next month or sooner I will be giving my computer that has been
faithful and true for 8 years a proper burial. I will be upgrading to a
totally new system which will more than likely have Windows Vista
  installed
on it. I'm not too thrilled about this, because I have not heard good
  things about Vista.

What I am wondering is how is Jaws 9.0 working with Vista? Does anyone
  know
if Freedom Scientiffic has Jaws tutorial tapes for Vista. If I have to
  give
up Windows-XP I want to make the transition as easy as possible.

  Any feedback will be appreciated.

From what I heard I happen to use jaws,I added your sight to my favorites.

Re: [JAWS-Users] I'd appreciate feedback re my web page

2007-11-30 Thread Mark Faben
Hi,

Quick look from over here and it seems fine too (using JAWS), and I
had a look at the source HTML and that all seems fine and standard (I
work as a web accessability tester/consultant amongst other things).
The only couple of points I can think is that strictly* speaking
there should be a couple of lines up before the body of the page,
where the language is defined and a line on the version of HTML, but
they're really a bit techy things that are just in the WC3 guidelines,
and don't really as far as I've ever made out, actually affect the
sites ability to be read by JAWS, HAl or Window eyes etc...

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS changing language in Outlook Express

2007-11-30 Thread carlene knight
Hi;

this has happened to me, and I actually found it quite amusing. I just
used the hot key to reply to the message and read it without sending
it. It worked just fine. On some of the UK sites, it will read in
Brittish. In the JFW config manager, there is a language detection
option. I think this will help, but I'm in the midst of an undiagnosed
illness, and am feeling like crap, or I would find it for you.

I am using JAWS 7.0 and Windows XP Professional.
I have my JAWS set up to read using US English but I don't know what happens,
JAWS starts reading the text in some other language for the mails I receive.

Initially I thought it was happening only for emails that I receive from
specific people. But it was not the case, I face this problem for mails that
I receive from my colleagues as well as mails of different mailing lists I am
subscribed to. Even my colleague using Microsoft Outlook, JAWS 7.0 and

Has any one of you come across such a problem?
Is their a solution to this problem?

2007-11-30 Thread carlene knight
Hi:
I have been having some of the same problems, but I'm wondering if there
is a program running in the background that's interfeering with JAWS.
On Sundays, we back up my system onto an external hard drive. While the
back up program is running JAWS does this on a continual basis. I've
also found that if you are running MS Word with certain other programs,
strange things like this can happen.

   Hi Francis.

As far as I know, the only thing you can do to fix that is to upgrade. I
remember that problem and could find no way to fix it either, and I have
years of experience as an advanced JAWS user.

I haven't yet exercised my options to upgrade to JAWS 8 or 9 and am still
using the software mentioned in the subject line. However, for a few days
now I find that whenever I type very fast or use some of the controls Jaws
simply stops talking and even if I use the shortcut key to bring it back I
get no speech. The only way to reinstate Jaws is to restart the computer.

Does anybody else on this list have a similar problem and what is the
   solution?

For now, try doing it from MS Outlook instead. This works a lot better from
me, and I always manage to send the attachment.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] how do you do attachments in word 2003

Hi list, having some trouble in doing attachments in MS word 2003. I have
done some test ones, as haven't done them for a while. I have tried two
methods, but no luck. For example, while in a new message, I select insert
and then email attachment. I can find the look in box. I have that set to
look in my documents. I get the file name dialogue box. I also get the list
of my files. However, if I enter on the file I want nothing happens.
Similarly, if I tab to the attach button and hit it nothing happens. My
second method, was to open the word file, go to the file menu, down to send
to and choose attachment or mail recipient whatever it says. I then enter
the email address, the subject and a message. I then do alt S to send it.
However, i only end up with the email, but no attachment.
What am I doing wrong? I am using XP, Jaws 8.0 and outlook express
thanks Jason

[JAWS-Users] JFW 9 and Thunderbird

2007-11-30 Thread carlene knight
I've just read some of the new features in JFW 9. I may use the JAWS 9
demo, though I can't afford the upgrade for quite some time. I use
Firefox with JFW 7.10.500 and the ctrl f function works perfectly. I
simply hit f3 to find the next occurrence of my original search. I
guess I am lucky. How does JAWS 9 work with Mozilla Thunderbird? Does
anybody have any experiences with this?

At times when you receive updates it will lock up.

Because jaws and Norton are not compatible.

Actually I was just looking at this right now.
If you turn on your Jaws cursor, you can left click on any of the options
  and they work fine.
There isn't any access with menu bar or applications menu, but the jaws
cursor puts you right where you need to be.
I just ran live update and system scan with no problems.

Hello All:
It's been a long time since I posted to the list, and I was wondering
if anyone would like to give me feedback regarding my web site at www.zeli.net
I have been learning to write my page in html code. To me, jaws is
reading it fine, but thought I'd ask anyway. I hope this request is
on guidelines for the list.

[JAWS-Users] jfw and excell

2007-11-30 Thread Cathy
Hi:
I am trying to rename pages in the excell. I have created a check book and
need to rename sheets after I create them. How do you do it. I have tried and
tried, and for some reason can to find a way to do it with jfw. Here is what I
am doing, and please tell me if I am doing something wrong or forgetting a
step. After I create the page, I hit the right mouse key on the number pad.
It comes up with a menu, and some times when I arrow down I will find the
rename label, but some times there is a totally different menu. When I do find
the rename label, I will hit inter, and some times and I must say most of the
time it jumps 1 or 2 pages back up, of course, the page I want to rename is not
where I find myself, so I really need to figure out why I don't always get the
same menu when hitting the right mouse button, and if I do happen to get the
right menu, I still can't seem to stay in the right sheet. I am using jfw 5.1,
but have jfw 8 on the computer and if you think that version would work better
with excell, I will try that. I am having loads of problems with jfw 8 and the
e-mail, so decided to go back to the jfw that was working with my e-mail.
Anyway, to get back to excell and jfw, can some one please let me know what is
going on with the renaming problems? Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] is jaws compatible with norten internetsecurity 2008?

2007-11-30 Thread Ryan MacIsaac
Hi,

Have you tried to access any firewall settings or any of the options in the
Norton Protection Center (or whatever it is called in the 2008 version)?

I would like to upgrade to the 2008 version, but I am concerned about the
accessibility with Jaws. If you can access the options with the Jaws cursor,
then I don't see that as a problem. I currently use the 2006 version and
don't have any problems with access at all. I would just prefer to be able
to use the new features in the 2008 version.

  Hi,

Is it possible for you to access any of the settings in the program? For
example, can you access the firewall settings easily or can you easily run a
  full system scan?

I would like to use the new features that are in Norton Internet Security
2008, but most reports I have heard have said that it is not easily
  accessible with a screen reader.

  Thanks,

I just put Norton 2008 on my desktop computer.
There was only 2 things that I needed help with.
For some reason, I had to turn off jaws to access the fields to register the

  product.
They were only accessible with the mouse.
Also I had to have the product key read to me off the box to enter it.
It seems to have remembered my settings from the 2002 version that I was
  using.
I got on my email and internet with no setting changes at all.
  Hope this helps.

 Hi,

that I have composed but jaws8 will.
Is there a fix to this for Jaws9? I don't want to have to switch all
the time back to jaws8. 9 is so much easier to use with vista.

Re: [JAWS-Users] how do you do attachments in word 2003

2007-11-30 Thread Denny Huff
Instead of opening the Word document you want to attach, try going to you're
my Documents folder and highlight the document you want to attach.
Next press your applications key and arrow down to, send to and press enter.
Arrow down to, Mail Recipient and press enter.
This will open your default email client and you can go from there.

I am using XP, Jaws 8.0 and outlook express thanks

For now, try doing it from MS Outlook instead. This works a lot better from

 Hi,
I wanted to ask people. I have jaws9 installed. It wont read messages
that I have composed but jaws8 will.
Is there a fix to this for Jaws9? I don't want to have to switch all
the time back to jaws8. 9 is so much easier to use with vista.

Hi Jeffrey.

I am using Thunderbird 2.0.09. It's the newest upgrade. I was not
aware of JAWs scripts for it. Maybe that would solve some of my
problems, especially when I am trying to compose an email, and JFW won't
read certain fields that I have filled in. It's especially anoying as
it's intermittent. Are these scripts on David's site?

Hi,

Is it possible for you to access any of the settings in the program? For
example, can you access the firewall settings easily or can you easily run a
full system scan?

I would like to use the new features that are in Norton Internet Security
2008, but most reports I have heard have said that it is not easily
accessible with a screen reader.

Thanks,

Actually I was just looking at this right now.
If you turn on your Jaws cursor, you can left click on any of the options
and they work fine.
There isn't any access with menu bar or applications menu, but the jaws
cursor puts you right where you need to be.
I just ran live update and system scan with no problems.

 Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS9 and thunderbird 2

 Hi,
I wanted to ask people. I have jaws9 installed. It wont read messages
that I have composed but jaws8 will.
Is there a fix to this for Jaws9? I don't want to have to switch all
the time back to jaws8. 9 is so much easier to use with vista.

 Thanks for your help!
