[JAWS-Users] accessible sites Re: Downloading Music Files

2007-12-19 Thread Thomas Sagar
Is Napster JAWS accessible? What other sites out there either pay or free
that are JAWS accessible for music downloads? Thanks.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Downloading Music Files

 Hi David,

I think it should be noted that there are many free music sites that
actually encourage the downloading of music from their artists that are
 featured on their sites.

This is done mostly to get bands out there using this rather new marketing
ploy, and to offer a band or musician the ability to get noticed and offer
 a
platform where agents or music professionals can sample new material for
 sign-ups.

Having said that, there are services that one can pay for music downloads,
such as napster and ITunes, where people pay for the music they download.

I understand that this may not be exactly what that person was looking
 for,
but there are legitimate outfits out there that actually encourage the
downloading of music available from their sites.

Just thought people would like to know that.

 Victor

This is something I am aware of and it is good that you point it out. I was
simply commenting on the phrasing of the original question.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 9 and the run dialog box in Win xp

2007-12-19 Thread Stuart
I have in line auto complete turned on but I have noticed in Jaws 9 as I
start typing a web address in the run dialog box, that jaws doesn’t
automatically read the change in the text. But in Jaws 8 the text was read
as it was changing. I would appreciate some feed back on this as I don’t
have another system to try it on so I don’t know if it’s just the behavior
of Jaws 9 or my system

Thanks in advance

[JAWS-Users] Focus Issues with Jaws 9

2007-12-19 Thread Rhonda Selby
I'm trying to help my boyfriend Steve configure his Vista OS to work as well as
it
can with the new Jaws. There were some problems when he was running 8.0 with
Vista,
but it seems we are having quite a few more focus issues with 9.0. The techs at
FS,
we have talked with 2 different ones now, are doing what they call an
escalation on
the problem because they can't answer why we are having so many problems. They
say it
is a Vista problem, not a Jaws problem, for instance, when trying to use
Contacts
where addresses are stored. Contacts will open, but then give a message that
the
program is not responding, Jaws will not focus at all on any of the items in
the
list view, or speak. I can see why that might lead them to believe that it is
OS
related.

But now when we are trying to do certain operations, such as open the What's
New in
Jaws menu, the computer opens nothing, only makes the clicking sound as though
it has
opened the folder. Also, there are times when we enter on a menu to open it,
we are
simply booted out of the menus altogether, they close, we are booted to the
desktop.

Can anyone tell me if there are certain things in Vista we need to configure a
certain way to get max performance better focus with Jaws 9? Apologies if
this
question has already been addressed.

Thanks,
Rhonda

Re: [JAWS-Users] Certification In Assistive Technology

2007-12-19 Thread Annette
At one time George Mason University was offering some type of distance
learning certification program in Assistive Technology. At the time when I
was working there, we used BlackBoard for our on-line learning. I was able
to use most parts of it with JAWS.

To find out what current programs they have, contact:

Cindy George or Dr. Michael Behrmann
George Mason University
Helen A. Kellar Institute for Human disAbilities

Let me know what you find out.

Hello All,

I am looking for an on line school in order to receive Certification in
Assistive Technology using JAWS. Does any one know of a university or
college that has a friendly web site using JAWS That I could receive this
certification through? Thanks in advance for your help.
