Re: [JAWS-Users] Winamp and WMP 11

Hi, just to confirm Vista comes with WMP11 and I doubt very much that
it's downgradeable.

If you use WMP use 10 not 11 if you want to make an honest comparison. Media

will be stuck with 11.

if it does what you need it to do, then by all means keep using it.
I do find that it is easier to set up play lists in Winamp though. Also I
like being able to create bookmarks within a file easily in Winamp.
I also like being able to skip forward or back in 5 second intervals in
Winamp not to mention the ability to jump to any point within a file.
You can probably do all of these things using WMP, but I'm not totally sure
 about that.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Winamp and WMP 11

 Hi,

I have been looking at just about every version of winamp over the last week
or so. I used to use Winamp several years ago but when I purchased a new
Laptop I tried using WMP 11 and have found it very good.

Please can somebody explain to me what I am missing by not using Winamp!

I do realise that it all depends on what you wish to do with your player and
that most of you will just think, Oh well whatever works for you but in my
case, Rippping, Burning using a Library, creating Play lists etc all are
very accessible using WMP but to be honest although I have had some success
with Winamp versions which includes using down loaded scripts from the site,
I am coming to the conclusion that WMP 11 is the thing to use.

Please tell me why most of you prefer Winamp and why you may think it is
better than the standard Windows Player.

Look forward to hearing your comments.

 regards

 Graham

[JAWS-Users] video card query

2008-01-27 Thread Estelita
Hello Listers,
I'm backed again after a while of being off.
At last, I fixed myself with newer JAWS and that is version 8.0.
Now, I'd like to have my desktop PC built so I can have choice of OS and other
bits on it, and perhaps you knowledgeable people on this wonderful list can
give me information of things that I might need.
My question is: what is the proper video card that will work well with the
latest JAWS?
Thank you.

[JAWS-Users] Columns, JAWS and imaging .

2008-01-27 Thread rcham27
I have 9.0 and XP home.
I use Text Cloner on my scanner.
When scanning or reading material in columns, or even PDF on the web, JAWS
does not seem to pick up the columns, and reading a document can be
humorous if not impossible.
Is there anyway around this dilemma?

Thank you.

I don't think this is a JAWS problem; rather it is the reality that in most
instances scanning software gives you an output that ignores the
 formatting
 of the source document.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Trojan virus in AVG vault

2008-01-27 Thread Faisal
once the trogent is corentined, it can't harm your computer. thus, you
have nothing to worry about. However, if you still feel necessary to
delete it, you can do the following:

1. open AVG, then open the virus valt.
2. arrow down to the trogent, and hit your delete key. If your can't
find the trogent, but sertain its there, try going to file, actions, and
hit enter on empty virus valt.
Hope this helps.

 Hi,

place the jaws currtsor on the graphic, but when I go to lable it Jaws
says it is not on a graphic. I've had a sighted friend verify that I am
on the graphic.
If I press the left mouse button of Jaws, it performs the function of
the graphic. I have set the verbosity to all graphics. I even
tried having them identified automatically and Jaws didn't find any
graphics. I'm using JFW 9.0 and Windows XP. Any ideas as to why Jaws
 won't recognize the sgraphics? Thanks!

[JAWS-Users] memo to both list of high importence

2008-01-27 Thread David Patricia Ferrin
I just spoke to my web provider, he told me that the new server should be
installed soon although he didn't give me a time table as of yet but he said he
would. So what this means for those of you out there is that the web site is
going to be down for a while unfortunately until the current situation is
finally resolved. The lists are not effected at this time. You'll know more
when I know more.

Any ideas how to make this thing talk?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Graphics not recognized

2008-01-27 Thread Mitch Galloway
Hi Linda,
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but no luck. Jaws just says
graphics 0 for all the graphics on the page. Strange thing is I have a
different version of the database on my home computer and Jaws recognizes
the graphics. I'm beginning to think that it is either the version of the
database or the video card.

Hi,

Maybe you can move the mouse with the simulation keys. Either that or route
jaws to pc and when the jaws cursor is on the graphic, press left mouse.
I'm struggling with something like this myself.

 Subject: [JAWS-Users] Graphics not recognized

 Hi,

I'm trying to use a database program that uses many graphics. I
place the jaws currtsor on the graphic, but when I go to lable it Jaws
says it is not on a graphic.
Thanks!

 Mitch

Re: [JAWS-Users] Pandora.com

2008-01-27 Thread Marilyn Walker
Al, I checked this and it is intriguing but not easily figured out. There
is a hugely long faq list that attempts to answer lots of questions but not
the ones you and I would want answered. I am not informed on streaming
stations, etc. I had to exit under the file menu to get that bluegrass
stream to quit fiddling over the jaws voice. So, I'd say that you should
investigate further and e mail the pandora guys at their contact address.
The bluegrass, by the way, was top notch. marilyn

Subject: [SPAM] [JAWS-Users] cloudmark and jaws

Well, I downloaded and installed the version for outlook express. I was
really surprised how it installed. It set up for all inboxes. I have my
main and 5 sub accounts. The first account removed 3 spam messages. Then
my wife's account removed 75 messages and my daughter's another 35. In my
main account it removed 2 and missed one. Here is where I thought that I
would have a problem with jaws. I had a little trouble figuring out how to
block it. After toying for a while I left the pc cursor setting on the
message. Then activated the jaws cursor and went to the top where the tool
bar is. I was able to read the tool bar for cloudmark and with the jaws
cursor clicked on block and it worked.
I have 15 days of the trial version and the utility costs about $40 I
 think for a year.
When you block a message it is sent back to their server and added to the
 list for all users.
Also when you install it creates another folder under each identity for
spam. You can look in this folder to make sure that something was not
 accidentally marked as junk.
Right now I am leaning to purchasing. On their website there were a few
things that I had a problem reading. I sent the information about
 accessibility to them.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Top and Bottom Edge Alert Question

2008-01-27 Thread Victor Gouveia
Hi Carlene,

While I can appreciate you getting tired, the fact is, when I am going
through my e-mail, Jaws says bottom when I reach the end of the new e-mails
I have to read.

My friend enjoys this fact, and she and I agree, that when you are going
through 400 e-mails, you want to know when you've reached the end of the
list, instead of Jaws just stopping and not saying anything.

We have checked her verbosity settings, and they indicate that top and
bottom edge alerts are set to sound, but again, there is no sound or speech
when the bottom of the e-mail list is reached. Victor
