Re: [JAWS-Users] Making a selection in a combo box

2008-04-18 Thread Rosemarie Chavarria
Hi, Lisa. Try hitting insert control home to take you to the first form
field. Then hit enter to go into forms mode. If you're in a combo box,
open the list box with alt down arrow. Once you made your selection, hit
alt up arrow to close the list box. That should highlight your selection.
I did that today on the Albertsons web site.

Hope this helps.
Rosemarie

Sometimes you need to use the combination of Alt and down arrow to open a
 list in a combo box.

[JAWS-Users] Strange GMail Problem

2008-04-18 Thread Marvin Hunkin
Hi.
okay, for starters, have looked on gmail, help pages, and have
searched google, and have read the online help in outlook express 6,
but some real strange problems.
now some times, when using the gmail web interface, some times i get
copies of previous messages, and when i am using outlook express, it
downloads all my previous messages i had sent, and set outlook express
advanced mail settings, and unchecked leave a copy on the server.
so if there are any expert gmail users, who may have encountered this
problem before, how did you fix those problems?
just starting to annoy me, and have noticed this for several weeks.
so gmail users, got any answers?
i am a bit stumped.
cheers marvin.

Hi Carla,

There is a free program called ExpressRip that will let you rip a CD
into mp3 or wave format. You can also choose what bit rate to use for
mp3's all the way up to 320 KB. It will go online to the CDDB database
and find the artist and track info of the CD's.
I'm not sure if this is what you used or not, but it's a really nice
program considering that it's free.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] c d program help

I used to have this program on my computer before it crashed. It was
very jaws friendly. I don't remember which one it was. I thought it
was win amp, but maybe not. Here's what
it did. I opened the c d drive, dropped in a c d. It came up with a
menu of save disk to hardrive, play or whatever. When I would select
save to hard
drive. It would then, look and give me choices on the album title,
artist, year, etc. Now when I drop in a c d, I only get the choices to
use windows
media player and that is not the program I used before. I've tried
using the win amp, express burn and no luck. Does anyone have any
suggestions or an
answer.
thanks so much,
Carla

[JAWS-Users] Message rules question

2008-04-18 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi All,

I have filled out my message rules just like the Audio Tutorial and the
instructions on the Tips and Tricks Page say to do for both JAWS-Users and

 Hi guys,

I have a problem with my system tray on my laptop. When i go into it, Not
all the time, but most of the time, not all of my icons are appearing. For

 fix
 this?
Also I know there is a way to get to my options for selecting what appears
in the system tray, by going to the run... dialog. I just can't remember
what i need to type there. Can someone refresh My memory Please?

Hi RJ,
I have tried it with both brackets. In your example you typed [jaws-users].
On the subject line it reads [JAWS-Users]. In reading the subject line 1
letter at a time all the letters in Jaws and the U in Users are capitalized
so that is the way I put it in the choice you spoke of in the message rule.
Are these entries case sensitive? Thanks for your input.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Message rules question

2008-04-18 Thread Jack Lowe
Something to keep in mind when it comes to message rules in OE. Even
though Jaws might read the subject line like a sentence from left to
right, they are actually headings to columns.
For this group, I went into the message rules and in the first section,
you have 12 choices. I chose the 3rd one down. Where the message body
contains specific words. Then when you have to fill in that field, I
just put,
jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com
Then every time a message from this group comes in, it sees that rule
and moves the messages to their proper folder.
Sometimes you have to play with different settings to find the one that
works. I've been setting up message rules in OE for several years.
After you do it a few times, you get the hang of it.
Jack

Hope this helps,

Subject: [JAWS-Users] System tray

 Hi guys,

I have a problem with my system tray on my laptop. When i go into it, Not
all the time, but most of the time, not all of my icons are appearing. For
an example, my battery percentage is not always there. Is there a way to
 fix
 this?
Also I know there is a way to get to my options for selecting what appears
in the system tray, by going to the run... dialog. I just can't remember
what i need to type there. Can someone refresh My memory Please?

 Thanks yawl,

As far as battery status, couldn't you just use JAWS key+shift+b to find
that out? That should take care of that. As far as icons not showing,
can't exactly help you there.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Message rules question

2008-04-18 Thread Victor Gouveia
Hi Jack,

I think the best bet for message rules is the subject line. I don't think
your method is full proof.

Consider that if a person belongs to a large number of lists, and,
invariably, you will get talk on another list about another list, and
suddenly you find that other list's messages in the other list's folder, and
you lose track unless you're listening to the subject line.

Another example I can give you, is that the Blind Computing list makes
reference to the Jaws Users list in the footer, so what's to stop those
messages from going into my Jaws users folder?

You would literally have to be very attentive to the subject lines each and
every message.

I can cite more examples, but I think you get the idea.

In variably, most, if not all e-mail lists, will have the name of the list,
or some derivative in the subject line, so I think that would be your best
bet, as talk of another list in the subject line is very rare indeed.

Victor

Hello,
If you use that key combo to tell you your battery status it will say
battery status not found if the battery is fully charged.
Sincerely,

Re: [JAWS-Users] System tray

2008-04-18 Thread Carlene Knight
It looks like JAWS says that when asked for the battery status in that fashion
if the machine is fully charged and plugged in instead of saying AC power as it
does when I look in the system tray with insert f11. . When I unplugged and
restarted it, it gave me the status just fine.
