 Hello,
I guess I haven't been following this thread as closely as I should
 have.
Right now I'm using AVG free 7.5. Will I half to stop using that at
 the
 end
of the month? Why won't it no longer work?
 Take care,

Re: [JAWS-Users] AVG question

2008-05-10 Thread Kevin Chao
Carlene,

it appears that from doing a Google search that AVG Free 7.5 Support will
end on May 31. It is recommended that all users who are currently running
7.5 upgrade to 8.0. I have tried out 8.0 under the latest build of JAWS,
9.0.2152 and think that there is some work to bbe done under AVG 8.0 to
allow for the same kind of access that exist under AVG 7.5.

I think that I will switch to Avast when AVG 7.5 is no longer supported. To
obtain more information or to obtain Avast, please visit:
http://www.Avast.com/

Thanks,

Kevin

[JAWS-Users] A Tribute to MOMS!

2008-05-10 Thread Mike & Barbara
MAMA/MOMMY/MOTHER/MOM

This is a truly BEAUTIFUL piece please

read this at a slow pace, digesting every word and in

leisure...do not hurrythis is a treasure...

For those lucky to still be blessed with your Mom,

this is beautiful. For those of us who aren't, this is

even more beautiful. For those who are moms, you'll love this.

The young mother set her foot on the path of life. "Is this the long way?"
she asked. And the guide said: "Yes, and the way is hard. And you will
be

old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the
beginning."

But the young mother was happy, and she would not

believe that anything could be better than these years. So she

played with her children, and gathered flowers for

them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and

the sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried,

"Nothing will ever be lovelier than this."

Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was

dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother

drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said,

"Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come."

And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and

the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary.

But at all times she said to the children," A little patience and we are
there."

So the children climbed, and when they reached the top

they said, "Mother, we would not have done it without you."

And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up

at the stars and said, "This is a better day than the last, for my

children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave
them courage

Today, I 've given them strength."

And the next day came strange clouds which darkened

the earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped

and stumbled, and the mother said: "Look up. Lift your eyes to the light.

" And the children looked and saw above the clouds

an everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the

darkness. And that night the Mother said,

"This is the best day of all, for

I have shown my children God"

And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and

the years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent.

But her children were tall and strong, and walked with

courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her,

for she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill,

and beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide And

mother said, "I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end

is better than the beginning, for my children can

walk alone, and their children after them."

And the children said, "You will always walk with us,

Mother, even when you have gone through the gates."

And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates

closed after her. And they said: "We cannot see her

but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She

  is a living presence..."

Your Mother is always with you She's the whisper

of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach

in your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand

on your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives

inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop.

She's the place you came from, your first home; and

she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love

and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can

  separate you.

Not time, not space... not even death!

PASS THIS ON TO ALL THE MOTHERS & CHILDREN YOU KNOW.

MAY WE NEVER TAKE OUR MOTHERS FOR GRANTED...

Pass it on to the men too because they have mothers too

[JAWS-Users] considering purchasing

2008-05-10 Thread carla jo
I sent this to David earlier and he said it was okay to ask the group for your
opinions.

Hey David,
I am wondering about any programs that convert wma files to m p 3. My trial
period of switch has expired and I am considering purchasing it. Any advice?
Also considering of bundling that program with the express ones, I really like
them also. Wasn't sure about posting this to the list. If you think it
would be okay to post, let me know.
thanks,
Carla

Here, here, although this is all on topic for the list I was sort of getting

Wouldn't it be a lot simpler and cut about 40 e mails about the same issue
Just for everybody to go to _www.avast.com_ (http://www.avast.com) and read
the info off the website? It would be a good experience for folks to look into

No, the pro in avast has nothing to do with xp pro. it is just a name for
their software. because the avast pro is for businesses and stuff who need
to purchase the software.you ncan just download the regular free avast home
and then do the freee key registration.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Replacement for AVG

2008-05-10 Thread Marilyn Walker
The point about avg is that after May 31 it will not be updated at all
whether or not the user is sighted. To use avg, you'll have to use version
8 and, of course, your sighted help could set it up and check it from time
to time. At present v. 8 is not accessible with jaws but we hear that avg
is working on it. marilyn

Hi:

Does anybody know about any AVG antispyware compatibility issues with JAWS? How
are we going to know if there are any fixes? I guess we'll just have to keep on
trying until it's right.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Replacement for AVG

2008-05-10 Thread Carlene Knight
Hi:

I need to read the whole thread before replying, but I do have a question. If
AVG is installed without JAWS being on, will it run and update without errors?
I'm aware I couldn't change settings ETC, but my husband who is sighted likes
AVG and he could assist me with settings if we ever need to change them, which I
can't foresee in the near future.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Moving to previous page break in MS Word

Hi
I am in a situation where I need to move from one page break to the
next in an MS Word document. The page up and down commands do not go to the
page breaks. They only go up and down by a screen of text. In the documents
I am using the amount of text between the page breaks veries. I am using MS
Word 2007 and the latest version of JAWS 9. I tried to look in the short cut
keys for JAWS and MS Word but didn't find any thing. Any ideas are
appreciated.

God bless,

Try control page up and down.
This will not work after you use the find command though.

I would be interested in opinions from the group as to a rank ordering
from
most to least of anti virus programs that are JAWS friendly that have
 been
tried. Since many of us will need to abandon AVG by the end of the
 month
this information may be helpful in selecting a replacement. I for one
 have
not tried any other paid or free program since going from Norton to AVG
 a
couple of years ago. Any help would be appreciated.

 thanks
 Al

[JAWS-Users] Problem in opening the drives from "My computer.

2008-05-10 Thread prateek aggarwal
Hello, myself prateek.
Hey mr. vijay! Well, I'm too a new member and writing first time to this list.
As you told, you're having problem with your drives, I think it's a
issue of system volume information. You might be knowing that the
system volume information helps windows to open drives.
In such a case, when a open with dialog appears whenever you try to
open your drives, try to reinstall your windows.
If still problem remain same, then please contact to your hardware
engineer because it may be a issue of harddisk too.
Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Replacement for AVG

2008-05-10 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hi Lisa, from what I've read Grisoft will stop supporting AVG 7.5 from May
31 In other words, it'll still work, but you won't be able to update it,
affectively leaving your computer vulnerable to viruses and other threats.
Get yourself a copy of Avast and the vulnerabilities will be taken care of.
Hope that helps.
