Re: [JAWS-Users] Java and Adobe

2008-08-05 Thread Mark
Hi Larry,
If you are using Internet Explorer you can check the status of Java by:
1. Open your internet browser.
2. Do an alt T.
3. Press o.
4. control tab until you are on the advanced tab.
5. Do a regular tab un til you are on the list of options.
6. Press J until you hear Java.
7. arrow down until you hear the status of your Java.
8. If you need to change the status of Java press the space bar on the
option you want to enable.

I hope this helps.

God bless,
Mark

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Java and Adobe

 Hi Folks,

I am in the process of investigating an income opportunity and their web
site is telling me that I need the latest version of Adobe Flash player
(9.124) and that I need Java script enabled on my machine.
Downloading flash player is easy enough but how do I know if Java is
 enabled
and will either one of these programs mess with Jaws 8.latest. I am
 running
 XP-Pro as my operating system.

[JAWS-Users] Using cross-sheet references in Excel with Jaws

2008-08-05 Thread Williams, Robin
Hi all,
I need to use a cross-sheet reference in Excel for some work I am
doing. I.e. I am in a worksheet, and need to use data from another
worksheet (actually another workbook i.e. a separate file) in my
formulae.
Now according to the Jaws Help for Excel, under Miscelaneous hints, I
can apparently press equals (=) in the cell in which I want to produce
the formula, navigate to the appropriate place in the other file, select
the relevant cells, etc, which sounds fine.
However when I press equals, and go to open another file, pressing
ctrl+o does nothing and indeed the open option is unavailable in the
file menu. I have tried long and hard to solve this and have got
nowhere, am I just making a simple mistake? How can I navigate to the
file I need when entering a formula?
  I am using Jaws 9.0 with Excel2003.
Many thanks for any help.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS reading passwords

It's understandable that when I type in a password, JAWS simply says
star, star, star...
because that's what's appearing on the screen.
Is there a way to hear what I am actually typing in there?

[JAWS-Users] Typing Assistant Software

2008-08-05 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hi all,
I'm trying out a programme called Asyoutype, which basically helps you to
correct spelling mistakes as well as helping you to type better. This is
working extremely well with JAWS 9 so far. You can go to www.asyoutype.com
and download a free and fully functional 30 day trial. Hope this is of some
use!

hi, avast is very accessible and straightforward to use once it's set up. To
get the key, simply contact avast support and explain that you can't
complete their online form due to the visual captcha. they should then send
you a key. Hope this helps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Using cross-sheet references in Excel with Jaws

2008-08-05 Thread Flor Lynch
Look up cross-reference in Excel help for more detail and worked-out
examples on how to do what you want. Either or both do a search in the
Excel Help, or create an Index there by going to the Index tab and tabbing
to and entering on the wizard, etc. if you haven't already created an index.
You only need to do this once. (This is so as to bring up your required
help quickly at any time thereafter.)

Re: [JAWS-Users] Using cross-sheet references in Excel with Jaws

2008-08-05 Thread Brian Lee
Hello robin,

The easiest way to do it is to use the paste special function. Simply copy
the cell with the formula in the sheet or workbook being linked to, move to
where you want the result to appear in the other workbook or worksheet, and
use the paste link command in the paste special dialog box. To do that
press Alt-E to bring up the edit menu. Use down arrow to move to the paste
special choice and press enter. Use Alt-L to activate the paste link
choice. The formula will now be linked to the cell you copied in the other
workbook or worksheet and will change when the original one changes.

You can write the formula in the second workbook or worksheet by using
opening single quotation marks around the workbook and worksheet names, but
if there are spaces in the worksheet name then you will have to use square
brackets as well, there will be an exclamation mark necessary and you will
need to use absolute references. If you need a lesson on this subject I can
send you one off list. However, I think the use of the paste link function
is the easiest for you to use.

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] Looking for Calendar and Cheque Book

2008-08-05 Thread Victor Gouveia
Hi Folks,

I'm wondering if there's a cheque book and/or calendar program that's simple to
use and works on Vista?

I'm going to be getting a new computer with Vista on it, and the latest version
of Jaws, and I need to get these two programs so I can use it.

I am able to download the programs now, so having the computer is not
necessary, as my wife has a laptop with Vista on it, business edition, and
running Jaws 9 that I can play with, so any help would be appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for Calendar and Cheque Book

2008-08-05 Thread tammy cantrell
Victor,
I know you can get a program called Talking Checkbook. It's been around for
a while so I'm not sure if it will work with Vista. Premere Technology
sells it. I feel sure Independent Living, Maxi Aids and L S S Groups do
too.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Looking for Calendar and Cheque Book

 Hi Folks,

 I'm wondering if there's a cheque book and/or calendar program that's
simple to use and works on Vista?

I'm going to be getting a new computer with Vista on it, and the latest
version of Jaws, and I need to get these two programs so I can use it.

I am able to download the programs now, so having the computer is not
necessary, as my wife has a laptop with Vista on it, business edition, and
running Jaws 9 that I can play with, so any help would be appreciated.

2008-08-05 Thread Mark
Hi Patti,
If you could send me a copy of the excel check book and calendar I
would appreciate it. What a blessing to have these features in an accessible
program.
 Thank you.

God bless,
Mark
