Re: [JAWS-Users] ITunes8 podcast featuring JAWS, JTunes, and Window-Eyes.

2008-09-23 Thread Flor Lynch
Hi Demetry,

Visit the Web site of T & T Consultancy, a UK firm, Web site:
www.tandt-consultancy.com/

and check out the Blog & podcast link
and find out more about what they - the developers of JTunes, JTools, etc.,
do. they also do a periodical audio magazine on CD in MP3 and in
downloadable zip MP3 called InfoTech, which comes out monthly or bimonthly.

In addition, the latest FS podcast MP3 for September (now available from the
freedomscientific.com Web site) features JAWS10 support for iTunes 8
accessibility. It is produced monthly by Jonathan Mosen, a vice-president
of Freedom Scientific (presiding over their hardware division, which
includes the PAC Mate/Omni).

It only inserts a sound if it's not registered.
Once it is paid for and registered, then no sound is inserted.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Web hosting website accessible with Jaws?

The only free space I am aware of is the space that many ISPs offer included
in their email packages. There are a number of lower cost plans out there.
This list and everything that goes along with it is hosted on Hurricane

[JAWS-Users] memo regard the mailman program

2008-09-23 Thread David Ferrin
Some of you may be experiencing delays in your messages being posted here
lately because Hurricane host is performing a few upgrades to their mail
scanning engine. They scan for viruses on the server side to protect their
customers for obvious reasons. Just wanted to make you folks aware of that fact
is all.

[JAWS-Users] "No window is active"?

2008-09-23 Thread Rich Hamel
Hi everyone;
I have XP home and 9.0.
When I shut down the computer, I hit the alt F4 buttons. I get a message that
says no window is active.
It seems to take a long time to properly shut down and I have to alt tab around
to speed things up.
Is this normal? and, Is there a faster way to shut down to get out of different
 applications?

Thank you.

Re: [JAWS-Users] best recording program to use?

2008-09-23 Thread Chris Hallsworth
I said, "the demo inserts a sound every minute or so". That means, if it's
running in demo mode, then it will insert the sound. If you're not running
it in demo mode, then no sound is inserted and your recordings will come out
clean.

I don't think they'll do that. Serotek do it because their software is more
web orientated, whereas jaws is purely a screen reading solution.

Re: [JAWS-Users] SP3 & Word

2008-09-23 Thread Patricia Dunbar
Hello Brian,

I am not sure that this is my problem in the first place. I do have my
original software disk and I did insert it inot the drive when prompted
while trying to do a repair.

I performed a system restore last night and this brought Word back. I now
realize that it's not any error on Word but on Jaws 9 when I open Word
however many times this is during the day, Jaws will say the appropriate
number of times of opening. So last night I had to do 3 reports, for each
time I pressed control N while in Word, Jaws would say, document 1 or 2 or
3.

When I was first hearing this, I thought it was a Word issue, but I realize
now it's Jaws 9.
Word performed as it always has and for that I am relieved to say the least.
I am still not convinced that the windows SP3 doesn't come to play in some
of this problem.
I will however keep your email as I've been proven wrong many times and
might end up eating these words...

Thanks,

Patricia

Well this is interesting, because when someone sent me an email
 regarding
word not working, and one of the solutions was to rename the normal.dot
 to
 oldnormal.dot.
However, when I try to do a search for it, it comes back empty no files
found. I of course followed the instructions mentioned in the email to
 the
letter, but no matches are ever found for normal.dot.
I know where it is as I found 2 occurrances of it in a folder on the
computer's C drive. One is the Normal.dot and the other is,
 $normal.dot.

Sould I do a new search with the $ sign first, or go directly to where
 the
normal.dot is and delete it from there?
I used the windows key, and then went to the search submenu and typed
 in,
normal.dot and tab to search all files/folders, looked in the Cdrive
 this
 is
the method I did to perform this

[JAWS-Users] accessible simple diary and accessible DVD cloning package

2008-09-23 Thread Ciego
I've been using Ample Notice now for about 15 years going back to DOS days. In
fact, the Windows version I'm using in XP Pro is technically for Win 95!

I'm looking for something a little better but not more complicated! AN sort-of
works in XP Pro with JAWS 7 but is limited in that it reads each event but not
the date - I'm sure it used to read the date in the past but I've often found
with the FS 'updates' that one loses bits as well as gaining some. I recently
went back to JFW7 from 9 due to some quirks in Word).

Anyway, A N is effectively a textfile that you can either edit in a text editor
or input directly from the A N screen.

I've literally got years of dates and don't want to have to input it all over
again!!!

Can anyone suggest anything? please? The trouble is, in the past, I have
splashed out on a new package only to end up going back to Ample Notice.

Also, I'm after an accessible DVD cloning package so I can backup my DVDs.

I've tried DVD Cloner and Clone DVD both are either mostly or completely
inaccessible as they use exclusively graphics, ie film strips.

I suppose the writers of such backup packages don't figure blindos might use
movie DVD's? :)

Someone on another list I saw recommended anyDVD but don't want to splash out
until I know it will work.

Much thanks

No, Patricia, as far as I know, SP3 has no effect whatsoever on the
operation of Microsoft Word, at least where Version 2003 is concerned.
However, Version 2007 may be a different story.

Do you have the search set up to show system files and hidden files?

Anyway, since you know where it is and can go to it just do so and
 delete
 it
there as well as the $normal.dot and your oldnormal.dot as well, none
 are
any use to you and Word will create a new template.

Re: [JAWS-Users] "No window is active"?

2008-09-23 Thread Leonard Morris
I don't mecessarily get that message when shutting down but I get it at
different stages of computing. I get the message "no window is active press
ctrl m to return to the desktop." So, sometimes I alt tab away from the
message and sometimes I do the action that the message suggests.

[JAWS-Users] No window is active"? correction

2008-09-23 Thread Leonard Morris
Note: I should have stated "press windows plus m to return to the desktop" Not
ctrl m." Thanks.

different stages of computing. I get the message "no window is active press
ctrl m to return to the desktop." So, sometimes I alt tab away from the
message and sometimes I do the action that the message suggests.

Re: [JAWS-Users] 64 bit version of JAWS

2008-09-23 Thread tim
nope, jaws don't do 64bit ops. you can have 64bit box, but everything
has to be ran in 32 bit mode.

[JAWS-Users] Making JAWS Stop Saying Attachment

2008-09-23 Thread Donnie Parrett
I have looked everywhere on the Tips & Tricks page of JAWS-Users home page for
this info and can't
seem to find it anywhere. I just downloaded AVG 8.0 and JAWS says the word
"attachment" with every
email. How do I get this stopped?

Thanks,
Donnie
