[JAWS-Users] Deleting linebreaks

2009-03-30 Thread Van Der Walt Riana
It has worked for me to just select the linebreak symbol with shift and
the curser key, copy it to clipboard and paste in the find field, then
replacing it with nothing filled in the replacement field, which will in
effect delete the line breaks then enter on replace or replace all.

Hi Eric,

Not sure if you'll get this message, but did you guys resolve the issue
of

the default.jss script file not being able to be compiled with the newest
update?

Just wondering as I don't want to go through what I went through the
other

week with Jaws where I had to get one of your techs to send me a Windows
Installer clean up tool to uninstall Jaws.

Can you please shed some light on this?

[JAWS-Users] Word 2007

2009-03-30 Thread Rogelio Terrazas
I wanted to know if anybody knows the keys to hit when reading alignment. For
example, on a line of typed text you go over three words and it is underlined.
You want to know how far it is from the left margin and it also tells you that
it is underlined. It has been a couple of years since I used my old Office XP.
Ins+f just reads the fonts, line spacing etc.. Any help would be appreciated.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 10.0.1142 update was posted March 30th

All,

This afternoon, Freedom Scientific posted another free update to JAWS 10
release. This was a very minor adjustment addressing a few issues
outlined below. If you did have problems with the Check for Updates
feature installing the build 1139 update several weeks back, you may
wish to just go to the JAWS Download page and download the full version
and install over top of your current version 10. If the check for
updates worked well for you the last time, you should be able to use it
again now and get this latest patch.

The following is a list of items addressed between the JAWS 10.0.1139
update and the JAWS 10.0.1142 update.

* The Yahoo Instant Messenger.jss script file has been updated and
included in JAWS 10 to provide support for the latest version of Yahoo!
Messenger 9. Make sure to download the latest Yahoo! Messenger for full
compatibility with JAWS 10.
* The message history in AOL Instant Messenger and the e-mail
messages in the Gmail Inbox are now visible to JAWS. Previously, the
virtual buffer would appear to be blank if you tried to read message
history or Inbox messages.
* When navigating through the Gmail Inbox, you can once again
select and open an e-mail message by pressing ENTER when focus is on the
text in the Subject column. In a previous release, it was necessary to
turn off the Virtual Cursor or use the JAWS cursor to open the e-mail
message.
* Resolved an issue related to certain Web pages with frames,
which, when updated, created a situation where JAWS would not read the
text present in the updated frame. This problem was reported for both
Gmail and the Webinar software used by the Freedom Scientific Training
department for the new Webinars
 ,
both free and paid, now being offered.
* The default JAWS dictionary file (default.jdf) has been updated
to include the correct pronunciation of two Russian symbols.
* In the JAWS help file, the Using the JAWS Cursor topic now
describes the Real Window and the Focus Window restriction options that
are available for the JAWS Cursor. Previously, this topic only mentioned
the Application Window, Current Window, Unrestricted, and Frame
restrictions.

Re: [JAWS-Users] another quick question about calculator
Were you able to find the calculator? It is under
the Accessories menu which is located in the Programs menu in your Start
menu.
If you use this program a lot you can simply right click on it and create
a short cut and paste it to your desk top.

Once you open the calculator, it is ready for you to put in the numbers.

[JAWS-Users] another quick question about calculator

2009-03-30 Thread Tim

Re: [JAWS-Users] another quick question about calculator
Were you able to find the calculator? It is
under the Accessories menu which is located in the Programs menu in
your Start menu.
If you use this program a lot you can simply right click on it and
create a short cut and paste it to your desk top.

Once you open the calculator, it is ready for you to put in the numbers.

PC Magazine claims IE 8 is 500% faster than IE 7 according to their
benchmarks! I believe that makes it competitive with Firefox again.

I use the RSS feed functionality in IE 7, including automatically
downloading attached files, known to the rest of the world as podcasts. In
IE 7, if an error occurs during its background download process, it does
not have a mechanism to recover / reset. I have not figured out how to
clear the error and have IE try the download again. Similarly, once I
accidentally deleted all the podcasts when running CCleaner. I am hoping
that IE 8 is more robust in this area.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 10.0.1142 update was posted March 30th

2009-03-30 Thread Eric Damery

Re: [JAWS-Users] Website Addresses.

2009-03-30 Thread Erin Pruitt
Whoops! So sorry, I said "Alt" instead of "Control" in 2 places, let's try it
again:
In IE7, I use Alt-D to take me to and highlight the address bar and then
Control-C to copy it, and Control-V to paste it into my message. Maybe that

In IE7, I use Alt-D to take me to and highlight the address bar and then Alt-C
to copy it, and Alt-V to paste it into my message. Maybe that will work in
IE8, too.

Re: [JAWS-Users] I am having problems with thunderbird

2009-03-30 Thread Tim
When writing an email, go to your File menu. Press the down arrow until
you come to the Attachments menu. Press enter and you will have several
options. Most likely, you will want to attach a file. Press enter on
Files and tab through the dialog box that appears.

When you receive an email with an attachment, you can open it by going
to the Attachments menu in your File menu. By simply pressing enter on
this option, you will find a complete list of all of the attachments in
that email.

If you want to confirm that you selected the correct files that you
wanted to attach to your email, the only way I have found to do this is
to first send the message to your Outbox folder. You can then reopen the
message and view all of the attachments. This is, to say the least,
rather cumbersome but it is the only way I have found to make it work.
Perhaps someone else has a suggestion on how to make this work better.

Hope this helps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] IE

2009-03-30 Thread Flor Lynch
I believe it is done somewhere in temporary internet Files. I'd be almost
afraid to have IE save podcasts automatically: On some pages, such as ACB
Radio main menu, for example, you could be trying to download many podcasts
automatically right after each other, so we need to be careful what podcasts
we'd pick for that treatment.

I am not real sure. I guess I need to figure that out if I intend to
protect these podcasts when using CCleaner next time. I have not seen any
place to change this directory.

To adjust the amount of punctuation that JAWS speaks:

1. Open the JAWS menu

2. Select the Options sub menu

3. Select the Voices sub menu

4. Select Global Adjustment...

5. Tab until you hear Voice Punctuation and choose between the options of
None, Some, Most and All

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 10

2009-03-30 Thread Van Der Walt Riana
Perhaps your punctuation is set to none.

If it works like previous jaws versions,
to change punctuation settings, you could either do it in the jaws
verbosity menu from within outlook, where you could change it to most,
or via the Jaws configuration settings under the settings menu, arrowing
to the relevant option.

The insert v option will only change it for the specific application
from which you go into the verbosity menu, the other via the
configuration menu, will change the default, should you invoke that
option at the prompt.
