Bring Windows Contacts into focus by choosing it from the tools menu in Windows Mail. The first thing you need to do is to go under the view menu in Windows contacts and press enter on the customize this folder choice. Move to the customize page tab in the dialog box. In the what kind of folder do you want list of choices use up or down arrow keys and choose contacts. Use tab to apply button and then OK. This will bring up the toolbar with the choice for creating a group. From the list of contact names use tab key four times until you hear the organize button announced. Use right arrow key three times to the new contact group button and press spacebar. In the resulting dialog box there are two pages. Contact group tab and group details. Focus should be in the contact group page. You can use tab key to the controls in this dialog box and use the edit boxes for entering names and E-mail addresses of contacts to add to the group, or you can use tab key to the add to contact group button and press spacebar. You can then use tab or shift+tab to move to the list of contacts and use normal Windows selecting keystrokes to select names and then use tab to the ad button and press spacebar. Once names are added just leave dialogs by tabbing to the OK button and pressing spacebar. Take care. When in the control panel, go to programs and features. now when the list comes up. Just arrow to the one you want to remove and hit enter on it. it may come up with choices but tabbing through them will let you pick what you want to do. if no choice then it will just remove it. Most of the vista commands are links, because all vista is just one big web page op. At 08:53 AM 5/15/2009, you wrote: How do I delete a program or uninstall a program from the control panel. Re: [JAWS-Users] how to see the titles of a song in Windows mediaplayer
Hello Andres, I do not use classic menus. You might try turning off the classic menus but leaving Windows Media Player in full mode view. After turning off classic menus then try using the info I sent in my previous post. I have pasted the info below. The list view choice from the now playing menu works for playlists, but I am not sure about for a live stream from the Internet. Also, the info shown below is for Windows Media Player 11. Hello Andres, One way to get a list of songs being played in Windows Media Player is to turn on the list pane. When in Windows Media Player use tab key to move to the Now playing menu button and use enter key or spacebar. Use down arrow in the resulting menu to find the choice for showing the list pane and press enter key. You can then use tab key to the list of songs being played. Use up and down arrow keys through the list. JAWS will say if the song that you move on to with the arrow keys is the currently or now playing song. Take care. I would like to create a backup copy of my C drive and save it to an external hard drive (preferably a USB-powered portable hard drive) so that I would be able to perform a complete system restore in the event of a catastrophic computer failure. Can this be accomplished using the Windows Backup utility that comes with XP Pro? Or are there any other free, JAWS-friendly programs that would be better suited for this purpose? And are there any tutorials that explain how to perform a complete system backup and restore using one of these programs? Thanks for any advice or suggestions. There are no graphics. It is just a straight letter but, when I try to convert it with Adobe it says, Alert, Empty document. Is there something that I can do so Jaws will read this letter? I also tried to copy it but, when I try to select all I get this message, This is a secure document. Selection is not allowed. I had my better half look at the attachment and that is how I know that the letter contains only text. I am running XP/SP3 Home, Office Home 2002, Adobe 9.1, Jaws 10 latest. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much, take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Scroll keystrokes
Hi Mike, What in particular, or how, do you want to 'scroll'? Normally, we' just read or use the arrow or page movement keys in the thing that needs to be scrolled until we get to the point of interest. I also once or twice had to use (hold down) the left-mouse button for an extended period, say, 30 seconds, and I think one also had to have routed the JAWS cursor to PC in that instance. - Original Message - From: Mike Barbara mb69ma...@charter.net To: jaws-users-list jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Sunday, May 17, 2009 1:32 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Scroll keystrokes Hi All, I have been looking through the Jaws help files and can't find the keystrokes for scrolling. Re: [JAWS-Users] Scroll keystrokes
Hi Flor, I use a sound card by Creative Labs, the Sound Blaster Audigy. It has a sound selection page where you can select different ways your sounds will come through the speakers. You can basically make the sounds have more or less reverberation. For example; Ball Park, Cathedral, Living Room, etc. On this page you have to route the PC cursor to the Jaws cursor to actually read the list. When you route the Jaws cursor to PC cursor and arrow up down you can only arrow up or down 2 or 3 choices and you hear scroll down symbol or scroll up symbol. My question pertains to when you come across the scroll up or down symbol are there keystrokes that will achieve this task? Jaws says scroll up or down symbol but, if you try to arrow where jaws says this Jaws just says blank like it is actually reading a symbol and not words. I am truly sorry if my explanation sucks but, I am not very good at explaining these things. I just hope that I haven't totally confused the hell out of you or anybody else on the list! This is probably one of those things that there isn't a real answer for but, I will never know unless I ask. Thanks much, take care. [JAWS-Users] JAWS Sleep Mode
Hi Listers I have downloaded some games from Games for the Blind recently. When I first play the games I followed the instructions to silence JAWS. Se Below. Now when I go into the start menu Jaws won't speak. It works everywhere else though. Can anyone help? Instructions I followed: 1. Open the JFW Configuration manager: Press and hold down the insert key, and press the F2 function key. Usually, the Configuration Manager is the first option in the window that appears. Press the enter key on Configuration Manager, and it will open in a new window. 2. The Configuration Manager window has a menu bar, and we want to open the Set Options menu. Do this by pressing the alt key and the letter s. 3. If you press the up arrow key when the Set Options menu opens, you will find a menu item titled: Advanced Options... Locate the Advanced Options menu item and press the enter key to open it. 4. When the Advanced Options window opens, you will find a check box titled: Sleep Mode Enabled Press the space bar to check this box, and press the tab key. 5. You will now find a check box titled: Unload Synthasizer Press the space bar to check this box, and you are done. Now, just press the enter key to close the Advanced Options window, Press Control S to save these new settings, and close the Configuration Manager window by pressing the alt key and the F4 function key.
