I used the audio, and it was quite clear. It also said if you weren't
exactly right to just guess. And it worked. I guess it depends on how
clear your screen reader is.

Do you have Firefox? That's what you must have for WebVisum. If you do
have Firefox, I will generate an invitation code for you and send it to you

www.mozillafirefox.org/

However, whether you do or don't have Firefox, thin the last month -
probably after the podcast was put out - there has sprung up a new service,
where it doesn't matter what browser or operating system your using.

Go to www.solona.net/

and you can then go to its Twitter Blog there and read it, if you like. On
www.solona.net You can also go to the learn link, and also the how it
works link. there are also the instructions which are now on the page when

you have logged in. You just register with the site, nothing special,
ensuring that you are not a spam bot. All of this is explained in the
instructions, which may seem more complex in the reading than in the doing.
You get used to operating it.

I have found where the options is to insert a footer in the menus, and I hit

I'm not sure what to do from there. Do I hit Escape? I tried that, and I am
taken back to the document. How am I suppose to know if the footer actually
worked? I don't seem to find it anywhere in the document when I read it.

Not sure about Word 2003, but I believe you go into view menu and then arrow

Re: [JAWS-Users] How to insert a footer using Jaws and Word 2007

2009-05-30 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Liz,

When you press escape key focus returns to the main document and the header
or footer information that you created is saved. In Word 2007 you can still
use the Alt+V keystroke as if you were pulling up the view menu in an
earlier version of the program and follow that with pressing the letter H.
This will land focus in the headers and footers area. When in that area the
ribbon has an extra tab added to it for designing headers and/or footers.
Press Alt key and you should be on the design page tab. Use tab key to go
to the various tools for designing headers and footers. Each of the tools
on the design tab has an associated sequence of letters that you can use
instead of tabbing to the various choices. For example, to break the link
between a footer on page two with the footer on page one you would press Alt
then J then H then K. The J is for the design tab, the H for header or
footer, and the K for the break link choice. Of course you would need the
cursor to be on the page two footer to force the break with the link to the
page one footer. If you open headers and footers with Alt+V followed by H,
you can add page numbers by pressing Alt followed by J followed by H
followed by N U.

In order to use a lot of the tools on the design tab such as the breaking of
links to previous headers or footers your document needs to be set up in
sections.

Again, Alt+V followed by H puts you in the header and footer area of the
document. Escape moves back to the main document and saves information you
added to the header and footer areas. After using Alt+V followed by H a
design tab is available on the ribbon. Pressing Alt should put focus on the
design tab and then using tab key should move focus across the bottom part
of the design tab where you can find different tools to be used.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] accessing the autorecovery task pane with Jaws 10

2009-05-30 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Sherri,

If I remember correctly, the names of the recovered files are shown in the
recovery task pane. Try pressing function key 6 and see if it changes to
the pane where documents to be recovered are listed. If so, try moving on
to the document to be recovered and using the application key to see if you
have choices for opening, saving or deleting the recovered file. You might
also try tabbing in the pane to see if you come to those choices. If you
can't get the info you want in the recovery pane then you can try to open
the recovered file from within Word. Use the open dialog box and set the
files of type to All. If using XP then in the look-in list in the open
dialog browse to c:\documents and settings\your user name\application
data\Microsoft\word, press enter on the last part of that path (Word) to set
it as the active folder in the look-in box, tab three times to the list and
look for files with an ASD extension. If using Vista then in the open
dialog box in Word again set files of type to All and then browse the
c:\users\Your user name\app data\roaming\Microsoft\word and then look for
files with the extension ASD in that folder.

Here is a link to an article by Microsoft on using various methods for
recovering documents. Hopefully, the F6 will take you to the recovery pane
and you can open the recovered documents from there.

Have you tried to press F6? This normally moves between open panes. You
might have to press F6 several times. It will eventually return you to
where you started. However, I seem to remember resorting to poking around
the entire screen with the JAWS cursor until I found a control on the pane

And if that doesn't do it, set JAWS cursor to unrestricted and use it
to search. If it's there, the JAWS cursor should find it. Then rout
PC to JAWS and you're in business. If you're lucky, though, there's
an easier way.

of that path (Word) to set it as the active folder in the look-in
box, tab three times to the list and look for files with an ASD
extension. If using Vista then in the open dialog box in Word again
set files of type to All and then browse the c:\users\Your user
name\app data\roaming\Microsoft\word and then look for files with
the extension ASD in that folder.

Here is a link to an article by Microsoft on using various methods
for recovering documents. Hopefully, the F6 will take you to the
recovery pane and you can open the recovered documents from there.

Hello all,

I am using Word 2003 and Jaws 10. I had the computer shut down
suddenly and it said that documents had been saved in the
autorecovery task pane. How do I get to that? Where do I find the
list of documents? Thanks for any help.

[JAWS-Users] outlook and jaws

2009-05-30 Thread Christy
Hey all.
I wasn't sure if this email had gotten to the list or not. So I'm
asking it again.
I have outlook express and version 9 of jaws.
But when I close outlook, jaws just freezes. Any help on trying to fix
it so it doesn't freeze would be appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] two sound cards with Vista

2009-05-30 Thread Cory B
Hi all,

Just made the leap to vista Ultimate for vista's Media Center and so far it is
great. But, I prefer to have Jaws come through one sound card and the computer
sound come through another card. This use to work in XP but it looks like the
same method does not work in Vista. Has anyone figured out how do do this yet?

Thanks,

Cory

[JAWS-Users] Simple file transfer?

2009-05-30 Thread rcham27

I have 10.00
XP home.
How can I copy a file of JPG photos from my hard drive in to a flash drive,
so I can have someone view them on a digital picture frame?

Is there an import/export setting?
I tried to copy and paste, but that did not work.

Thanks for any input.

Re: [JAWS-Users] two sound cards with Vista

2009-05-30 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Cory,
In the latest build of Jaws 10, there is a soundcard sub-menu,
in the utilities menu of Jaws.
This should allow you to choose the soundcard for Jaws to use.
