Hi,
I installed the update! I do not like it. You can buy stuff from the
store, but it is kinda complicated, and I can't figure out how to listen
to the songs. Like, to preview them.
You go to the itunes store and then in the search box, type something like
"Boys like girls." If you know the name of the song like "She's got a
boyfriend now." Type in "boys like girls she's got a boyfriend now." If
you know the name of the album type the album name "Love Drunk" for
example or the artist and album "Boys like girls love drunk."
Then press enter. Next tab till you hear the album you want. Press enter.
hen it will say something like View full album. Press enter then ctrl+end
to go to the end of the screen. Press tab and you should hear it say "buy
love drunk." For example and then tab again it it will say "Buy Two is
better than one featuring Taylor Swift." and I am assuming then you press
enter on the song you wanna buy. It sould take you through the whole
album.
If I can figure out more, I will let you know. And, I was just using that
artist/album as an example on how to use the itunes store.

I've been running Jaws on a Macbook. It does not have an application key. I

Hi Scot,
I am using JAWS 10.x and the latest version of IE. . So, I hope that I
will be able to help. One thing I have found is that it is best to write a
message post in HJPad, use the spell check, and then paste it in the
message

box. This is the best way I have found to get around the forms mode
issues.
In JAWS 10 and higher there is an issue where you have to do a JAWS key
plus

escape to refresh the screen before the box appears to paste the text of
your message. I hope they will fix this in JAWS 11.
Hope this helps. If not write again and I will give it another try.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Quick start for jaws?

2009-09-11 Thread dgcnc
The reason it doesn't work is the fact that you have more than one version
of Jaws. It has nothing to do with XP since I'm running the same thing. Your
start menu doesn't know which version to start when you do Windows J. I
understand that because several versions back, I had the same situation of
having two versions.

This doesn't have to be complicated. I have not set up anything special
on
my computer. I only have one program beginning with the letter J. So, I
press the Windows key which opens the start Menu. I press the letter J
and
off it goes. I'm pretty sure I don't have to press Enter but do it so
much
that I don't think. I share a computer with a sighted person and Jaws
gets
turned on and off at least a dozen times a day. Not a problem at all! I
have
offered to have a different account for my sighted friend so they don't
have
to deal with Jaws and they say why bother since it is working so well to
switch it on and off.

If you need more specifics, you can contact me directly.

You must first assign a hot key for Jaws.
Place the cursor on the Jaws icon, then press the applications key then
press R for propritys.. Then tab until you hear short cut key. At that
time you can assign the hot key combination you want.
Most people use control, alt, j. Then tab to apply, press space then tab
until ok, then space .

Yes, use control plusalt key plus the j key at the same time. In about
10 or 15 seconds after you press that key combination, you should hear

[JAWS-Users] IE8, Firefox and check boxes in JAWS 11 beta 2.

2009-09-11 Thread Jimmy.
Has anybody noticed that in JAWS 11 with IE8 or Firefox, when on a page with
check boxes, that if you change the status of the check box, jaws does not
report that change unless you tab away and back to the box?

For example, on the gmail site. If you are going through messages and
checking some to be deleted, JAWS does not tell you that it checked the box.
It does say when you land on it that it is unchecked though. Anybody else
seeing this happen?

Hi David,

If you can't find your application key or your keyboard doesn't have an
application key, go to the Jaws 6 Icon on your desktop and press the
keystroke Alt + enter. This keystroke will put you into the shortcut
properties dialogue box. Hope this helps. Take care.

Usually control+alt+J. I don't know about jaws 6 since my

[JAWS-Users] Solved: Problem with adobe reader 9

2009-09-11 Thread Jeronimo Schöber
Hello,
It just came to me:
I had suppressed all refreshing of web pages within the jaws configuration
manager found in the tools menu of jaws. Under html options > miscelanious you
can choose to either suppress all refreshing or just refresh every 60 seconds
or refresh as needed. Suppression of all refreshing produces the problem that
turning pages in an adobe PDF document is NOT reflected in jaws output neither
speech or braille display.
This apparently must be considered a bug since html refreshing and turning
pages in an adobe PDF document should be unrelated and it should not be the
case that suppression of web page refreshing for better readability prevents
access to adobe documents.
If anyone on this list knows about a method of forwarding this to the right
people at Freedom Scientific we would all benefit.

Thanks in advance
and best regards

You must first assign a hot key for Jaws.
Place the cursor on the Jaws icon, then press the applications key
then press R for propritys.. Then tab until you hear short cut key. At
that time you can assign the hot key combination you want.
Most people use control, alt, j. Then tab to apply, press space then

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS-Users-List Digest, Vol 50, Issue 24

2009-09-11 Thread First CRC Tom Vos
Albert,
I don't know any way of getting Office 2007 on 2 computers legally
without purchasing two licenses.
It is possible to buy a multi license copy, but that is still likely to
cost more than 2 licenses.
The trial version that came with your computer may be the cheapest way to
go for that one.
If you try to install Office 2007 with the same product key on two
computers, you will be denied the second time around. This is because,
when you install you have to connect online to Microsoft, and they keep
track of that sort of thing.
The cost is steep, but a place like Best Buy is likely your best bet.
There are websites that offer deeply discounted copies of Office by
download, but I would not trust them
Since Office 2003 is giving you some problems, the change might be worth
it.
Office 2007 has a bit of a learning curve, because it uses ribbon menus
instead of pull down menus, but I have found that it is not difficult to
learn, and works very well with JAWS 9 and especially with JAWS 10.
If you take that step and want some hints on adapting to the 2007 format,
feel free to contact me.
Blessings,
Tom

2009-09-11 Thread dgcnc
I think your real question is how many keys do you get when you purchase
Office 2007. I would encourage you to contact the store where you are
thinking of purchasing the software and ask them to check their product
packaging. These companies put out different versions and promotions and
all. My brother bought a copy and got 3 keys on the particular version of
Office 2007 he bought. But, since yours could be different, find out from
the store regarding the product you want to purchase. If that store doesn't
want to tell you, call another! The store who gives you good customer
service then gets your business. Don't take somebody's word on this who may
not know what they are talking about for your specific situation. Know what
you are buying!

good morning everyone.

Yesterday, I asked the list, if there was anyway that I could install
after purchasing the program for office 2007 with the product key that
they provide you with, if I could install it on my desk top computer. If
not, does anyone know how much an additional product key for me too
install it on my desktop computer would cost? If you remember from my
post yesterday, I got a netbook computer which has a 60 day trial period,
which will enable me too use the program and then afterwords, I have the
option to either install the program through there online process, or by
purchasing the program on cd, or dvd if I buy it through another store.
I'm not trying too get the program for free without paying for the product
key or extra license if that is what's required, but I just need to know
for informational purposes, just how much an additional product key would
cost, or how much it would cost too purchase another license for the
program would be if that's what I need.

I'm having a lot of trouble with the version of office 2003 that I
currently have on my desktop computer here, along with a lot of trouble
using outlook express 6 which I'm using in conjunction with office 2003.
So, that's why I'm asking the above question as it relates too office

You must first assign a hot key for Jaws.
Place the cursor on the Jaws icon, then press the applications key then
press R for propritys.. Then tab until you hear short cut key. At that
time you can assign the hot key combination you want.
Most people use control, alt, j. Then tab to apply, press space then tab
until ok, then space .

Yes, use control plusalt key plus the j key at the same time. In about
10 or 15 seconds after you press that key combination, you should hear
the message, jaws for windows is ready.

[JAWS-Users] Would anyone happen to have the answer too the following question that I posted to the list yesterday?

2009-09-11 Thread Albert Cutolo

good morning everyone.

Yesterday, I asked the list, if there was anyway that I could install after
purchasing the program for office 2007 with the product key that they
provide you with, if I could install it on my desk top computer. If not,
does anyone know how much an additional product key for me too install it on
my desktop computer would cost? If you remember from my post yesterday, I
got a netbook computer which has a 60 day trial period, which will enable me
too use the program and then afterwords, I have the option to either install
the program through there online process, or by purchasing the program on
cd, or dvd if I buy it through another store. I'm not trying too get the
program for free without paying for the product key or extra license if that
is what's required, but I just need to know for informational purposes, just
how much an additional product key would cost, or how much it would cost too
purchase another license for the program would be if that's what I need.

I'm having a lot of trouble with the version of office 2003 that I currently
have on my desktop computer here, along with a lot of trouble using outlook
express 6 which I'm using in conjunction with office 2003. So, that's why
I'm asking the above question as it relates too office 2007.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Quick start for jaws?

2009-09-11 Thread Flor Lynch
It is a good idea nevertheless to create a shortcut key for JAWS when
you install it, so that when it's been unloaded you can indeed bring it
up with one key combo (such as ctrl-alt-j).

it also may take a little time for JAWS to load up, whichever method is
used.  Another method is to use the run dialogue.  press Windows key;
type r; and then type jaws10 (or your JAWS version); and then press
enter.

Hello Josh and David,

Sorry, but this is incorrect.

All jaws versions one installs, create an icon on the desktop, so if
you
have nothing else on the desktop starting with a j, pressing that
letter

when on the desktop, will select jaws and you can then just enter.

So without speech, pressing windows key with m, then j and then enter,
should run jaws.

You don't have to create a different hotkey.

Regards,

Riana

David,I don't believe there is a hot key automatically assigned to
JAWS

when
installed, so unless you have assigned a hot key I believe you will
have

to
use Narrator in order to turn JAWS back on or another option if you
have

JAWS set to automatically start when the computer loads up then you
may

try
a restart. David this information is going by the assumption that your
wife
used the Jaws key + F4 to unload JAWS or the exit key to unload JAWS,
that
is the only information I know about it I hope this helps or someone
else is
able to offer more information on this matter and we both can learn
something from it. Josh

If your wife is sighted simply have her place the cursor on
the JFW Icon and press enter.
