Good Day,
I'm posting this question on be half of a friend. She did not realize
what would happen if her Outlook Express folders were compacted and now
she does not know how to access the messages that were in those folders.
She'd be very greatful for any help/advice on how she can again open those
messages. She is running Windows XP and an older version of Jaws (not
sure how old). Hope someone may have some tips.

Thank you,

I was wondering what does alt M do after pressing it in outlook o7?

I created a mute key to mute jaws, so I will never know, unless I delete the

Hi Sarah,

The AVI format is supported by Windows Movie maker so you can use that
program for merging the three clips into one if you want to. I hope it
works out for you.

Hello Sarah,

Unfortunately, I didn't get your latest post until this morning, which
according to your first post is past the deadline for your entry. I hope
you were able to get an extension of time for your submittal.

There is a program called "Winff" that is (w I n f f), which can convert MP4
files to WMV files. If you want me to send you a link to where you can
download it then write me off list and let me know. It is quite easy to use
the program. When the program is opened you can tab to an add button that
can be used to add the files you want converted. You can then use tab key
until you hear the path for the file being converted and the destination
path for the new file. After doing so, you can tab until you get to a combo
box for picking a type of file. If you use down arrow in that box you will
find the choice for Microsoft. Use tab again and you will find a combo box
from which you can pick WMV for the web or WMV generic as the output type.
Use tab until you get to the "convert" button and press spacebar on that
button to start the conversion. Wait for the conversion to stop and there
will be a message when you read the current line that tells you to press any
key to exit. You can then add the WMV files in Windows Movie Maker.

Let me know if you need me to send a link to where you can download Winff.

Take care.

Hello Sarah,

One thing you can do is use Windows Movie Maker. It should be in the all
programs group. If you have Windows 7 then you will need to download it
from the Microsoft web site. When you open Windows Movie Maker use CTRL+I

import a clip using the import wizard, the clip will be added to the end of

select them with CTRL+A and then put them on the story board with CTRL+D.
If all you want to do is make one movie from the three added to the story
board then just go under file menu and use the publish choice. You will be
asked to give the file a name. You will also get choices for publishing to
your computer, to a CD, to be sent by Email, or (I think starting in Vista)
to publish to a DVD. If you choose to publish to your computer a .WMV file
will be created. In the last step of publishing before using the finished
button there is a checkbox that asks if you want to play the movie when you
click finish. If you don't want to then use spacebar on the checkbox to
remove the checkmark. During the publishing process you can also choose
where to save the movie. In Vista the movie by default saves to the videos
folder. In XP the default is likely the my videos folder.

Take care.

Hi All

Is there a Jaws keystroke that will tell you of the battery stasis of your
wireless keyboard, or do you have to wait until it does not function anymore
to change the batteries.

Or is there an area that I can check that will tell me it has got to a
critical level.

[JAWS-Users] Compatibility view?

2010-01-31 Thread rich
Hi all;
   I have XP and 10.00.
I think I have the most recent IE.
I've been trying to put "Free weather" as my home page.
In the past, when IE loaded, "Free Weather" would come up ready to read.
Lately, the title will be "Free Weather", but it does not read until I tab a
few times.
One of the tabs is ,"compatibility view is checked.
I can either keep tabbing or, hit the space bar and the "Free Weather" will be
able to read.

So, what is the compatibility view? and, what should it be set on?
Also, does this setting have anything to do with the home page loading?

Oh, I noticed there are a few web sites listed in the "Compatibility view" and
"Free Weather" is one of them.

Thanks for any help.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Battery status of wireless keyboard

Hi All

Is there a Jaws keystroke that will tell you of the battery stasis of your
wireless keyboard, or do you have to wait until it does not function anymore
to change the batteries.

Or is there an area that I can check that will tell me it has got to a
critical level.

Ray

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 11 & FaceBook

2010-01-31 Thread Ann M. Medlar

Hi again,
To make a comment enter on home and then arrow down and you should get a
list of people's comments. Under the comment is a link for comment enter
and type your message. I think that is how I just sent a comment.
Believe I have saved Jack's directions but Facebook keeps changing so just
go with it.

I am using JAWS 11. If I want to make a comment to what someone has said
on FaceBook, how do I do
it? I am also using the simplified version of FaceBook. I know that's
not exactly what it is

called, but I hope you will know what I mean.

Thanks,
Donnie

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 11 & FaceBook

2010-01-31 Thread Ann M. Medlar

You most likely will use link:
www.m.facebook.com
Facebook is constantly evolving so here is how I make a comment.
One way is to send a message to a person or post th that person's wall or
post to your own status.

I just tried the mobile site and there seems to be some problems.
Anyway thanks to Jack I kept his notes.
Message:
1. go to the link I provided to the mobile site.
2. Enter on "Friends. It should be very near the top of the page.
3. You'll see 4 links on this page. They are, Updated, pages, . Phonebook,
and, . Everyone. Enter on the link that says, "everyone." This will show
all your friends. If you have several, they show 10 per page.
4. once the page is loaded, there is a link below every one of your friends
that says, "message."
Hit enter on that and it will put you in the page to send them a
private email that only they canread.
5. Just arrow down that page and you'll see the name of the person you're
sending the message to, a place for the subject, and an edit field for your
message.
6. After you finish writing the message, tab once and you should be sitting
on the send button. Hit it and you're message has been sent. You're done.
I'll try later to explain other 2 methods. I think I have other notes from
Jack.

Re: [JAWS-Users] window 7

2010-01-31 Thread Sherrie Gosling
This does work and there are separate laptop settings for battery use and on
AC power. So I set mine to never sleep on AC and to sleep in 15 minutes on
battery. And when it does go to sleep all I have to do is to press enter to
return to where I was before.

Hi,
My machine does that often as well.
I think you can try this.
1. CTRL panel and in the search field type in power options.
2. tab until you hear something about changing when the computer sleeps
3. enter on that option and go to the combo box where the time is set.
I'm unsure of the defaults, but mine is set to 15 and if you arrow down to
the end or just press the end key there is an option for never.
Finally click apply/ok whatever option shows.
I haven't tried what I just preached but let me know if this changes
things

for you.l

Hi, whenever I do not use my PC, I think it goes in sleep mode. I have to
press any key to get jaws back and make the PC work. Can I stop this?
