Re: [JAWS-Users] A question about a hotkey

2010-02-01 Thread jason smith

Hi Maria,
sometimes when the Jaws find command doesn't work. I do an insert F7 to
bring up a list of links on the page. And then use the letter P to skip down
to the previous page link. Or the letter N to skip down to the next page
link. They are often at the bottom of the links list anyway. But this is not
always the case. So pressing the corresponding letters I just mentioned can
help.

Hope that gives you another option.

Best wishes Jason

In IE-7 Alt+right arrow will move you foreword one page and
alt+left arrow will move you back one page.

Using Jaws 9.current and Windows XP-Pro.

doesn't seem to be

This is straight from what's new in jaws. Virtualize Current Window
The Virtualize Current Window keystroke is now INSERT+ALT+W. The previous

The keystroke that is now used for the word index was the CTRL that you are

Is there a JAWS hotkey for quickly moving to the next or
previous page of a
multiple-page website?
At work I need to move between pages and don't find it
efficient to deal
with the next or previous page links.
I tried the alt left arrow or right arrow, but that didn't
work. If there isn't such a hotkey, I humbly suggest such an
animal.

what about using the find command, control F and type in the word page.

Yes, and to keep the FB page a little cleaner, when you are finished
typing
your comment at the top of the email, if you do a control shift end at
the
end of your comment, it will delete everything under your comment so
that it
don't repost all that stuff to the web site.

In addition to what Anne has already mentioned, there is now a new option
that Facebook is gradually making available. If you have your settings
structured so that you receive comments to your status updates by e-mail,
you can reply to that email, and it will show up as a comment. This
feature

is not available for all accounts; if it is available for you, the email

Re: [JAWS-Users] macro recorder

2010-02-01 Thread David Griffith
Yes
I downloaded that but it did not appear to work with Jaws. The buttons are
read out but do not respond when you press the space bar or enter key.
I have actually today found the record.exe and recorder.dll files of the
Recorder utility from an old version of windows M E. The application appears
fully accessible with Jaws 11 in XP but I am not sure yet whether it
actually works with Word 2003. I will keep on experimenting. It allows you
to set a shortcut key to any macros you set up so it is potentially very
powerful. I wonder why Microsoft dropped it from XP?

[JAWS-Users] List Guidelines Reminder

2010-02-01 Thread Moderator
Hello and welcome to the JAWS Users list. This list has been created for The
purpose of discussing all aspects of the JAWS for Windows screen reader
Program.

So everything that pertains to JAWS is fair game. Such as asking about what
software packages work well with JAWS or how to make them work even better
with
scripts, keyboard short cuts and so forth. Another example could be
requesting information on how to do something in Microsoft Word, which as we
all know
works very well with JAWS, but you need to know how to do a certain task or
want to learn a way to accomplish it more efficiently.

Now this is a very important point in my opinion, asking the list for exact
instructions every time is not a good thing to do for a major reason. It
creates
a dependency situation even if you don't realize it does. The ideal place I
am hoping the list will arrive at some day is that everybody no matter how
new they might happen to be with JAWS or computers will have the confidence
to try things on their own, and yet feel if they get stuck the list will be
there to help put them back on track. Trust me when I say that help is
quicker to arrive for somebody who is well known to ask for it last than
first.
So try it yourself first what ever it might happen to be. If you get stuck
then let the list know what you've done to try and resolve your current
dilemma.
Then I'm sure help will arrive with in short order. Next a post asking if
there is a software package that does a specific task and works well with
JAWS
is perfectly fine.

The rules of conduct are quite simple and straightforward. Be polite and
Patient with others. There will be absolutely no fighting, and no bashing of
Freedom
Scientific on here at all. If you have a problem with them then I suggest
you take it up with Freedom Scientific directly.

Please try to keep subject lines relevant and descriptive as possible. Also
any news letters except those that directly pertain to JAWS should not be
posted
to the list prior to receiving moderator approval.

Attachments are removed before any message is sent to the list. This is done
for your protection. The message list might state that there is an
attachment
but in fact Mailman does remove them.

When contacting any of the list moderators privately please be descriptive
in the subject line as to the purpose of the message. Many of us simply
delete
messages from people we don't know. At the present time there are over 450
subscribers to this list, so we can't possibly know everybody on here.

Also, if you have a question for the list that falls within the guidelines,
then post it accordingly. Don't contact the management team with questions
that
are more appropriate for the list itself. Your question may or may not
receive an answer for a number of reasons.

Everybody should familiarize themselves with the content contained in the
footer message that accompanies every message posted to the list. There you
will
find the group web address along with some other relevant information
pertaining to contacting the management team ETC.

Occasionally there might be some difficulty with your email address and you
may receive an email from the Mailman program asking you to reactivate your
account. Please do not simply delete this message. Instead open it and
follow the directions to reactivate your account. If you do not after
receiving
a number of such messages then we will figure that you no longer wish to be
a member of the list and remove your email address.

The discussion of anything illegal is absolutely forbidden, along with
flirting or other such inappropriate activities. this is not a high tech
swap shop
or anything of that nature at all. This means that goods and or services
will not be bought or sold using this forum. If you know a given subject is
off
topic then don't post it. Simply placing off topic in the subject line does
not make it all right. Cross-posting is not permitted, and members should
only
post in the following manner:

Using the TO: field with only one list address. The SUBJECT: field should be
short and to the point without including any member names.

The reason for this is that in cases where people setup their message rules
to go by the To: field often times such rules get fowled up and in effect do
not work properly. Also cross posting might allow you to reach many lists at
the same time but the fact is such a post might not be on topic for each and
every list. This practice does nothing but clutter up such lists with
unwanted off topic messages along with annoying the list moderators. Lastly
please no jokes, virus warnings, recipes, safety tips, or pleas to help
dying
kids, should ever be forwarded to the list.

No auto responders are to be used on this list! Those who use auto
responders for vacations and so forth must make sure that this list is not
included. Any person who sends an auto response message will be removed!

My hope is that this li

Yes you can use Firefox and Webvisum for those captchas. IE does not
get, and cannot be, removed when installing Firefox. The only importance
is which browser Windows uses as its "default". Anyway, you can get
started by going to www.webvisum.com and creating and account there. You
can get the latest Firefox from www.getfirefox.com. Hope this helps.

[JAWS-Users] Accessible Macro Utility

2010-02-01 Thread David Griffith
Dear list

Does anybody know of an Accessible key recorder Macro utility.
Windows used to have such a utility in the old days but this does not appear
to exist any more in XP. It was I think simply called recorder, and enabled
you to record key strokes to automate repetitive tasks.

There is such a utility on give away of the day today but it does not appear
to be accessible with Jaws as pressing enter or space on the buttons does
not appear to do anything.

Essentially I scan a lot of documents and there are a number of find and
replace commands that I then have to execute in word to make these documents
most readable in Word. There are 8 find and replace commands I use and they
are always the same so it would be very useful to put these commands into a
macro rather than doing this for every chapter I read.

Try doing an insert 3 to bypass your Jaws keystroke and then do an alt m.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] key stroke in outlook 07

hotkey.
