Sometimes lately when I do a Google search, there are search results
listed, but JAWS skips over them.
It will review my search line, then jump to the links for 1, 2, 3 and so
on at the end of the list of search results.
Pressing H for headings, or U for unvisited links won't get me to the
search results either.
I'm using JAWS 11.
Does anybody know what might cause this?

Tom

the solution for that is to disable your antivirus software or figure
out how to tell it that the scripts aren't malicious. I've had no
problems at all either with or without the scripts. And Microsoft
Security Essentials didn't flag the scripts as malicious at all. Sorry
you had those problems. But, I will say that, before rushing out and
getting the alpha of 3.1, just be aware, if you aren't already, that the
alpha version may be less stable and have more bugs than the stable version.

Sorry I don't have a link for that version of thunderbird.

[JAWS-Users] Help with Avast V5 and Jaws

2010-02-21 Thread Elaine
Hi guys

my apologies if this question has been asked before, I've recently upgraded to
Avast V 5 and am running jaws V9.

I was able before the upgrade to use avast after changes had been made to the
GUI.

unfortunately I cant appear to change any options within this version of avast.
jaws cant see the window and is very limited when trying to read the page with
the jaws cursor. I can see some links I think they are for various options
such as changing graphical mode for example, but I cant appear to get to it.

does anyone know if it can be altered to allow me to use the program? or is it
time to go find an alternative anti virus that will work with jaws.

any help or advice would be appreciated.

thanks in advance

Elaine

Re: [JAWS-Users] reading pain

2010-02-21 Thread Brian Lee
Hi Kimsan,

Freedom Scientific suggests that you have the reading pane set to being
either at the bottom of the window or turned off. The following is from
JAWS help:

When using JAWS, the Outlook Reading Pane must be set to the bottom of the
window or disabled. If the Reading Pane is set to the right, it forces the
Message List Headers into Two-line mode, and only the first line is
announced.

To set the Reading Pane to the bottom of the window, or to disable it, do
the following:

Open Outlook.
Press ALT+V to open the View menu.
Choose the Reading Pane sub menu.
Select Bottom to set the pane to the bottom of the window, or select Off to
disable the reading pane.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] reading pain

2010-02-21 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Mitchell,

I am not sure if you want to know how to add a contact from a received
message or to save a contact entry that you are creating. In order to save
a contact from a received message, first open the message from the list.
When the message is open hold down the Alt key while pressing the 1 key
twice and then release the Alt key. With the cursor in the from field use
left arrow to move on to the sender's name. Press the application key and
use down arrow until you find the choice for adding the contact to your
contacts list and then press enter key.

If you want to know how to save information that you have entered into a new
or modified contact listing then you can simply press Alt+S when the fields
have been filled in.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] memo regarding the membership count

2010-02-21 Thread ROSEMARIE CHAVARRIA
Hi, Kimsung,

All I meant was that this list is wonderful and the team is doing a beautiful
job of running it. I already apologized to David and he understood what I was
trying to say. I would never deliberately bash another list. Each one is good
in its own way. I could understand you saying something if I had bashed Freedom
Scientific or Jaws or something like that as to be abusive but I'm not like
that.

Just wanted you to know where I was coming from.

Hi, John,

I totally agree. Not only that, but Jaws for windows is what most people
  use
for doing their jobs efficiently. I don't really know of any company
employees that use another screen reader.

David, I'm not surprised at all. jaws For Windows outsells any other
screen
reader at the rate of 9 to 1. Given that alone, if someone learns that
there is a place where their unusual or difficult Jaws questions can be
  answered, why not join it?

If you are not getting the information make sure that system restore is not
turned off. Go to control panel then system. go to the system restore tab
and make sure that the first box is not checked. checking that box turns
system restore off.

Um... how did I know someone was going to ask that.
Well? One place told me to do a system restore but when I go into do a
system restore I don't get the dialog to pick a date to restore the system.
I can't do a system restore, it seems like.
