Deanne! Does your keyboard have a little wheel just to the left of the, in my
opinion, useless
grave key next to the figure one?
Even the tiniest misplaced touch of this scroll wheel will cause your cursor to
jump all over the
place.
It is an absolute pain in the backside!

Sometimes when I'm writing an email, or writing in MS Word, the cursor will
jump and all of a sudden
I'm typing in the middle of the previous sentence or the previous paragraph.
And I never know the
cursor has moved until I review my text and find it all mixed up. It doesn't
happen too often, but
I can never figure out what makes the cursor jump like that. Has anyone else

Re: [JAWS-Users] netflix online streaming accessibility and jfw?

2010-07-22 Thread Donald Marang
I could not figure out a way to use any of the control buttons in Internet
Explorer. This is because it uses Silverlight, which is not very
accessible. I called Netflix a while back and they verified this and said
they were working on this. They also said if you closed the browser to stop
the movie before it was over, it would remember your place if you started it
up again. For a blind person, the only way to get back to the beginning
would be to continue to the end of the movie and start again!

I have not tried this yetn but I recently heard that Netflix can now ve
streamed to Media Center as well as Internet Explorer. Thhis should allow
the normal Media Center Playback and Volume controls to work on Netflix
movies! Movies streamed to Media Center will also be High Definition. In
Netflix terms, this is 720 pixels high.

Hi
I have successfully watched several movies and TV programs on Net
Flix.

The thing is that to change the volume of the program one raises or lowers
the volume for your web browser. I haven't been able to make any sense of
the buttons in the player. The good news is that if you use alt f4 and
exit

the player during a program, it picks up where you left off the next time
you play it. Rewind, well, I never figured that part out.
I hope this helps.

God bless,

I wish the mouse pad were the cause of my problem, but since not only am I
using a desk top computer, but the problem only appeared in the last few weeks
after I updated version eleven I do believe that there are other factors
contributing to the issue for some or many of us.

Yes, the touch pad can definitely make the focus jump around. I have mine
set to low sensitivity for that reason. The problem doesn't happen too
often, but once in a while it does and it seems to happen for no apparent
reason. A friend of mine also complained of it happening on her desktop
computer. Hmmm. . . maybe it's just one of those things we have to live
with for now.

Thanks very much for the suggestion,

[JAWS-Users] netflix online streaming accessibility and jfw?

2010-07-22 Thread CrisMunoz54
Hello list,

My sighted wife and I are considering sighing up with Netflix. I was just
curious though about the pc streaming aspect, how if at all accessible is it
with stand alone films and or mini series/television shows? Rewind, fast
forward stop, pause volume control, skipping from episode etc... I'm using
the latest JFW 11 release. Obviously for her it won't be an issue, but I
figured I'd ask since I'd like to use the service too...

Thanks,

Earlier today someone reported Business search not working
properly. I have a UPS package on its way and UPS tracking
is not working either. Anyone else tried this lookup the
last few days?

[JAWS-Users] jaws 11 context menu

2010-07-22 Thread northstar1950
for some reason, when i press insert+j for the jaws context menu, i
hear nothing and if i press insert+up arrow to hear the current line,
instead of hearing the current line from jaws, the cursor is moved up
to the bottom of the context menu items. its like jaws is turned off.
o', the reason i know this is happening, i also have an old alva 380
braille terminal that shows whats happening on the screen. my
question is, is anybody else having this problem? its posible its my
wwindows xp settings causing this problem but not sure.

thanks for any response.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Winzip V14.5 and JAWS

2010-07-22 Thread Scorpio Forever
Hi Gary,

Frankly, there aren't many, if any types of files that WinZip does not
handle.

To date, I haven't found any, in any case.

As my friend also said, it's good to have both, if only because some people
prefer to have one zip utility over another, but, having said that, if
you're going to create an archive to share with others, then it's best to
make a zip archive, instead of any other, like RAR or any of the others that
WinZip supports, only because some people can't afford other programs like
WinZip 14 or WinRAR, so they opt to go with the native zip extractor that
comes with Windows XP Vista or Windows 7, which, I'm told does not handle
other file types very well.

Just a note on this, in case you were thinking that one zipping utility
compresses better than the other.

Hope this helps.

Scorpio

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question about windows live mail and how jawsreads it.

2010-07-22 Thread David Bailes
Hi Erin,

this is about the columns command being unavailable on the view menu. In
windows
live mail there's a setting for the display of messages in the message list,
and
the options are automatic, two line or one line. The default setting is
automatic. With this setting, when the reading pane (preview pane) is present
on
the right of the message list, which I think it is by default, then the
messages
in the message list are displayed as two lines, and when this is the case, the
columns can't be adjusted. So the solution is either to set the display of mail
messages to one line rather than automatic, or to change the reading pane to be
either at the bottom or not to be shown.

All these options are set on the layout dialog, which you can open from the
view
menu. It contains four buttons, and when a button is opened, some controls
appear which are relevant. The first button is the reading pane button, and it
is already open. You can tab to a check box for setting whether the reading
pane
is shown, and if this is checked, then a pair of radio buttons follow for
setting whether the reading pane is the right or the bottom.

The option for the message list is available by opening the message list button
by pressing spacebar. You can then tab to a set of three radio buttons.

David.

Hi, everything you suggested worked on my desktop which has windows xp on it.
However, when I opened windows live mail and went to view it said columns was
unavailable. Also, pressing insert with page down only said details but did
not
elaborate.

I have Jaws 11 (the latest version), am using Windows Vista.
. Whenever I research a business, it usually works. That
is up until a couple of days ago. Is something wrong with
the Business end of Research It Feature? I usually use this
instead of a phonebook. It's kind of hard when the phone
book (business feature) doesn't work. . If anyone can help
get this back up and running, that would be great.
