[JAWS-Users] Express Batch in Backround
Hi folks, I've check the openbook 8 Users Guide to no avail. The Freedomscientific web site also was of no use. I would like to start an express batch in background and have it read to me as it processes the pages. Even though the guide says we can do this, it does not make it clear, how to tell it to start reading, once the first few pages are ready to be read. It also doesn't tell us how to suspend scanning, when we've grown tiered of standing there turning the pages. Have any of you figured this out yet? If so, would you tell me how to do this? It would make the scanning process a lot less boring! Many thanks in advance! Vicky For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Many laptops, particularly some of the newer ones with larger screens, have separate volume buttons. On my HP, they are on a small metal strip above the function keys. They are not denoted tactually, so I had to up a braille label above the mute, up and down volume controls, and the area where you touch to activate the wireless card. I doubt it, I believe that programme only searches for software hot keys, the sort that creating shortcuts for launching programmes creates. If there are built-in shortcut keys they will be in the computer manuals or some of the help screens. If you have someone who can see they may find some combinations of keys denoted by pictures of speakers with arrows up and down. There are probably others with antenna icons on them for turning on the WiFi radio and things like that, maybe spy glass icons for screen magnification, all kinds of stuff. I used to have a programme which allowed one to set up keys for volume up and down over 10 years ago, I expect it is still out there somewhere but I'd bet there is something on your computer to allow this. - Original Message - From: "Deana" To: Sent: Sunday, December 19, 2010 10:28 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] volume hotkeys? [JAWS-Users] today's daily information
Daily Tip: Repeater Repeater Your small business is doing well, and you've decided to move to a more expansive locale. Unfortunately, these bigger digs welcome almost everything but your wireless network. If you need your wireless network to cover more territory, buying a repeater is an affordable solution. A repeater essentially acts as the middleman between a wireless access point and any PCs beyond the access point's normal range. Many repeaters are compatible with wireless encryption standards, letting you securely grow your network without worrying about unwanted intruders. Daily Term: localization A change in a program made so it will work better for a specific group or function. For example, localization might include changes that take into account a different language, such as Japanese. One such change might be translating commands in menus from English to Japanese. [JAWS-Users] Ad-aware and Jfwv12 or alternative software
Hi, I have used Ad-aware in the past but just installed the latest free version and using Jfwv12 The software scans the computer fine but I can't seem to access the results or read anything on the results page. Is there anyway to work this version of ad-aware with Jaws or is there a better program that does work with Jaws? Thanks, Dale. I set the self extractor to place the files in a location that was not used by any other programs for the purpose of making them easy to find. The directions along with everything else needed will be located there. Once you are finished you can delete that folder or save the files in case you would ever need them again. They will be on the web site though so long as the page is posted on the internet. So which ever method you wish to use it is entirely up to you. [JAWS-Users] yesterday's daily information
I just got to it right now, never the less here it is folks. *** Daily Tip: Max Out Your Notebook Power Notebook battery power is precious when you're traveling, so make the most of your last charge by following a couple of tips. Run as few programs as possible. That includes shutting down any programs that plop icons onto the system tray on the bottom-right side of your Desktop. Add more memory. Additional RAM lets your machine compute more efficiently. And consider investing in an extra battery. Be sure to compare prices between retailers, though, because batteries cost a lot of money and prices vary wildly from store to store. Daily Term: local-area wireless network More commonly referred to as WLAN. This is a network that uses wireless means to transmit data from one point to another, rather than by using a more traditional wired LAN configuration.
