Hi David,
Well, looks like I owe Mandy an apology, since I thought all you would have
to do in the new settings center
was type a word you were looking for, and it's great capability would find
it.
If you can't find this setting with a word search, and weren't familiar with
all of Jaws settings,

how does one effectively use the settings center?
Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

Well in the first list is all the scripts that
you have, and in the second list is the jaws

and make your choices to save.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Disabling Mouse-Over.

2011-04-16 Thread Flor Lynch

Rick,

one either types another word into the search edit, such as 'indicate'
as in, 'indicate element attribute'; or one tabs into the Tree View of
JAWS 'applications' (of which there are 20 at this point). From the list
here one goes into Web / HTML /PDFs, and, within that branch, then one
right-arrows into Miscellaneous when one gets down to that. (Now this
group 'Miscellaneous' is not the same as the other group of
'miscellaneous' settings further down the tree of applications!) The
indicate element attribute checkbox is, by default, checked. Sometimes
knowing that a link is OnMouseOver (and not a straightforward
'clickable' link) is important, as the extra info that that link
contains is accessible only by 'hovering' the 'mouse over' it. (In JAWS
the OnMouseover keystroke is Ctrl+JAWSKey+Enter. It doesn't operate if
the indicate element attribute checkbox is unchecked. )

I'm sure everyone found it as interesting as I did. I never knew when or how
the list started. I really found the JFWLITE list helpful and I was so lost
when it was no longer being updated. Then I heard about the JAWS-USERS list
and hear I am!!! I have to say, I find it every bit as helpful as the
previous one. Thanks to you and your buddies for creating and maintaining
such a great list.

i was also explaining for the benefit of other readers, those who don't
know what mouseover is for. I might also add that, more often than not,
the extra information available because of OnMouseOver links either
isn't text or the onMouseover is for decorative effect. However, I've
come across some Web site where there was specific information available
only through the OnMouseover links.

Hi David,
Well, looks like I owe Mandy an apology, since I thought all you would
have
to do in the new settings center
was type a word you were looking for, and it's great capability would
find
it.
If you can't find this setting with a word search, and weren't familiar
with
all of Jaws settings,
how does one effectively use the settings center?
Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

[JAWS-Users] Windows 7, automatically connecting to an unsecure network

2011-04-16 Thread Russ Hubley
Hi everyone,

I realize that I have posed this question before, but with sighted
assistance, I have more information that may help to solve my issue. (Can be
found after #4 below.)

Here are the steps I have used

1. From the system tray, enter on the internet connection. (Away from home,
this will say that internet connections are available.)

2. Enter on network and sharing center

3. Enter on the connect to a network link

4. Arrow down to the unsecure network and enter. I here, Connect button.

On this screen, below the network name there is a checkbox that is
unchecked. I tried tabbing, using the applications key with no success.

Is there a key command that will land me on this checkbox so that I can
check it.

Thank you,

Russ

Hi Stewart,

It sounds like Outlook took over as your default email client, according to
the error message that you posted. Below are the steps that Flor Lynch
posted on how to correct the problem.

From: Flor Lynch

Seeing as you're using outlook Express in nrormal email, try this: Close
outlook Express. IMPORTANT: close Outlook or anything in outlook that
may be running. Go into Control panel; Internet Options; then shift+tab
and then right-arrow along to the Programs tab. press the tab key into
the dialogue. You come to the email programs combo box. Choose outlook
Express from the list by highlighting it, tab through the dialogue, and
press spacebar or enter on the OK button to make the change. You should
then - doing what you're doing - be enabled to send mail via outlook
Express from My Documents.
Flor

Hope this takes care of the problem. If it doesn't, let us know. Take
care.

[JAWS-Users] question: Number Row or Num Pad

2011-04-16 Thread Alan Dicey

Dear Friends,
Please help clear up a debate I and some friends had concerning those folks,
using JAWS, and who must be very fast on their Keyboards, and will need to
use numbers a lot during a telephone conversation, i.e., Customer Services,
Reservationists, Telephone Sales.
Do those of you who fall into these categories for employment use the
Number Row to input numbers while speed typing to keep up with a person on
the telephone,

Or
Do you hit your Num Locks Key, and use you or number pad?

I myself would feel worried about using my Num Pad, as I often use the
Num Pad for JAWS or Windows commands, even routing PC to JAWS.

And I might forget or might get tired of turning it on and off all the time!
Although I must say, I input numbers much faster using the Num Pad!

Thanks for any comments.
