Do you (or your brother) see any error message when JAWS doesn't read
it? If you do, it may be helpful to know it. have you gone
throughadobe's accessibility options? Reader Options? Are the pages
normal sized, or large? (If large, then that could be causing more
delay. the way around that is to have Adobe process just one page at a
time.) in any event, if you have OCR capable of recognizing pdf that
will likely do a better job with the particular pdf.

Listers,

I have installed and uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe reader9.3, and
am
having the same problem; wich is, Jaws isn't seeing some of the
scannings.
My brother is telling me that the document is there as clear as day
but
Jaws12 just isn't seeing it. Now other scanning of the same document
jaws

does see and read.

When Jaws doesn't see the document the message is, alert, know
pages. But
the pages are there! I also know that the pages are there because
when
Adobe is putting the pages in order Jaws will say how many pages there
are,

and again, my brother reads.

Can someone tell me how and why, is Jaws12, reading some scans and not
reading others of the exact same document?!

This is a health document and I really want to have it in PDF form,
it's

about 70 pages which is really nothing for adobe or jaws to handle.

Well, Please forgive me for such a long post, but I need this help.

Thanks! To all.

[JAWS-Users] Yahoo Messenger Scripts, a new update 1.6

2011-04-30 Thread Emanuel Boboiu (Manu)

Hello,
I updated Yahoo Messenger Scripts.
The actual version is 1.6 and these scripts work with JAWS 12 or earlier,
Yahoo Messenger or earlier.
If IE is updated since April 2011, the keystrokes Alt + Numbers don't read
the last messages found in current instant message window.

Emoticons are read.
Alt + Control + M works to search for an emoticon.
Control + Shift + Enter work to click the last link/url found in the instant
window, if that is sent by friend, like a Youtube clip.

Download it at:
http://www.pontes.ro/en/scripts/index.php

Press H until JAWS says Yahoo Messenger Scripts.

Hello. ok let me make my self clear. I am running IE 7, Windows xp, sp 3 and
yahoo messenger 10 with jaws 11. and the scripts don't seem to work at all.
as I have said time and time again there were scripts that were on the jaws
users page at one time that were written by rampcure and in hanced by
jetendra for yahoo messenger and those scripts worked like a dream. I think
they were for yahoo messenger 8 though but they are no longer on the sight
though. and before some one asks yes I did try downgrading to yahoo
messenger 8 and still it didn't work. when I would open up yahoo messenger
and I had the scripts it would say yahoo messenger welcome to yahoo
messenger scripts in hanced by rampcure and jetendra and then it would say
yahoo messenger again. then when I would go through my contacts list I would
be able to see who was on line and hit f 6 to hear jaws say typing window
and message window. I can do all of this now but the difference is that with
those scripts that used to be on the jaws users page I was able to read what
people were typing to me and what I was typing back. another thing that they
would read were the messages at the top of the message window that said that
who I was talking to was using a older version of yahoo messenger and that
serten features would not be available. I am not hearing this now either. I
also when I send a message am not hearing the message that I send when I hit
enter. before it would say something like michverrier says hi if I hit enter
and landed in the message window I could arrow up and read what I sent now I
am un able to do this. so I hope that if some one out there has these serten
scripts that were on the jaws users page and can send them to me that would
be grate. they are no longer there and there is also nothing in the tips and
tricks page about setting up yahoo messenger to work with jaws either and
there used to be as well. well I hope that this finely explains what my
problem is and that I will be able to get some help with this. from Mich.

if you would update the scripts, i can give some feed-back like after a
while, let's say in a longish conversation, alt keys work very
problematically. If you test the scripts on win7 and particularly on
chatting, that would be awsome.

You implement the repair option by putting a slash repair after the full
path of the filename. They took the actual repair command out of the tools
option back in Jaws 7 or so.

Dear List,

Since the update is flaky, I downloaded the full version but am getting a
message saying that I must uninstall 12 before executing the latest file.
What happened to the repair option? Thanks.

Cher

I remember that part, but had used the .exe to run a repair before- even
after they took out the other repair option- or so I thought.

They've taken out the automatic repair option from the past few versions
of JAWS.

Uninstall that then. Ask questions later!

Yes, I ran the .exe file- but instead of recognizing the previous install
and asking what I wanted to do, it informed me that I must uninstall the
current version first. I thought that running the .exe was the only
remaining way to do a repair?

The repair option is in the exe file, not the program.

So, even though you said full path, would it just be jaws12/repair from the
run dialog?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Why won't the JAWS .exe offer the repair option?

2011-04-30 Thread Mike Barbara In Arcadia
Hi Cher;

I'm sure you know this but, for those who might not.

The steps below are the best, most in depth, and most thorough way of
repairing Jaws according to Freedom Scientific Tech Support.

1. Place a copy of the Jaws executible version that you want to repair into
the main root of the C drive. For example; If you are running Jaws11
most recent you would paste a copy of J11.0.1430-32bit.exe into the main
root of the C drive. To open the main root of the C drive, go to
the desktop, press enter on My Computer, press enter on Local disk C, and
now you have the main root of the C drive open.
2. With the Jaws .exe pasted into the C drive, highlight the .exe
, and press F2 as if you were going to edit this line of text. now press
control + C to copy this Jaws executible, press escape to close the edit
field, and press Alt + F4 to close the C drive.
What you want to do is place just the title of the Jaws version into the
Windows Run Dialogue box and not the file. If you were to place the Jaws
executible into the Run box without copying as you did as per the
instructions above you would have pasted the whole file into the Run Box
instead of just the title.
3. Now that you have just the title copied to the clipboard, press Windows
key + R to open the Run Dialogue Box. Type, remember to type a capitalC ,
C:\ without the quotes or
spaces and press control + V to paste the Jaws title, press your end key to
take the cursor to the end of the title and type in the following /type
repair without the quotes but, with the spaces . Below is what your line
of text should look / read like.

C:\J11.0.1447-32bit.exe /type repair

Read character by character to make sure you have put in the proper spaces,
Forward back slashes and text. press the home key to go to the front of
the title and press enter to start the repair.

A 2nd way to do the same thing.

Hello Jim,

You might have already resolved the problem, but if not here is a link that
you can use to download the newest update for your 64-bit installation of
JAWS. Information about performing the repair is shown below after the
download link.

ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/JAWS/J11.0.1430-64
bit.exe

After downloading the file you can do the following steps to repair the
installation:

1. Use Windows key with R to bring up the run dialog box.

2. Use tab key to the browse button and press spacebar.

3. Browse to the downloaded JAWS setup file and press enter key.

4. Use tab key to move to where JAWS says open colon edit combo, press
the end key and then press spacebar.

5. Type in /Type repair, (that is first type a slash followed immediately
by the word type then a space and then the word repair.

6. Use tab key to the OK button and press enter key.

7. Follow the prompts.

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] STRANGE PROBLEM WITH LATEST JAWS BUILD

2011-04-30 Thread John Justice
I Just installed the latest build of Jaws 12 and it locked up my computer so
badly that David and I had to perform a System Restore. I'm not sure what
happened but David says that he is running the same software on his Windows
7 machine without a problem.
Maybe someone can figure out what might have happened.
I'm using Windows 7 professional, Jaws 12 and Outlook 2003 on a 64 bit
system.
Suddenly, the cursors wouldn't focus on the message. It was there but both
the PC and Jaws cursors were frozen.
I could find the message with the Invisible cursor but it was way down the
page and all kinds of other non-related things were on the same screen.
Does anyone have any idea what was going on?
