[JAWS-Users] Windows 8 and messengers
Hi all, The only messenger programs I can get alerts when someone pages me are Skype and Windows Live. Thank God, FB is integrated with them. Does anyone have any clue why I can't get them with JAWS 14 in Windows 8? The built in messaging app that comes with Windows 8 is totally inaccessible for me. Has anyone been able to make this work or had any of these problems? Thanks For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Reading File Size on the Status Bar
In the old days, especially in XP, it was possible to hear the number of items selected and the total size in Windows Explorer shown in the status bar. In Windows 7, if I press Insert + PageDown, I just hear the number of items selected. I think the normal behavior in Windows 7 is the total size appears in a pop up if the mouse hovers over the status bar. On my computer, the JAWS cursor can not pick up that text either. Does anybody know of a Windows 7 or JAWS setting that will place the total size on the status bar? -- *Don Marang* Vinux Package Development Coordinator - vinuxproject.org http://www.vinuxproject.org/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

[JAWS-Users] Query reading the status info in Outlook 2010
Hi All, I have Outlook 2010 running with Jaws 14, on Windows 8. On my previous installation, on Windows 7, when I pressed insert and numpad three, JFW would read the number of items in the folder, and the number of unread messages, if any. I know at the time I tweaked something in outlook to make Jaws see this status info, but I can't seem to remember what that was now. At present, when I press insert and numpad three there is silence. Has anyone got the quick fix to re-enable the reading of status info? Many thanks, Stuart Lawler For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Selecting noncontiguous files
Wondering if anyone else has noticed the following problem with the final release version of JAWS 14. When attempting to select noncontiguous files from a list using the ctrl key and then the space bar there is no speech. As soon as I hit the ctrl key to select the first file JAWS is silent. This is happening on my win 7 64 bit Home Premium system. My XP system is fine. Anyone else notice this on their Win 7 64 bit machine?
