Lenny,

It is a bit tricky to find that add to cart thing. If I recall, it isn't a

Do a search from the top of the page with the word cart in the Jaws search
box and see if that doesn't help.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

jaws just jumpes over it. I can not fine it withb b for buttons or even

I just called and they will not process an order over the phone for

Ok, I just looked. I brought up an item from the Rakuten email.

If you do a jaws search for cart, it will find the add to cart link. Right

2013-03-14 Thread Dan Rossi
You have to be pretty flexible when doing things on the web these days.
You cannot assume that everything you think should be a button, or other
forms control actually is. IE, just because most shopping carts have a
cart button, the cart button can appear as a link on other sites. I have
found that, unless it is a familiar site to me, I always arrow around
instead of just tabbing or using hot keys to move about the page.

You would have shortly after your hard drive was trashed. Like I said it is
not really possible for a blind person to use the program since it must be
ran from a floppy disk at a DOS prompt, and there are other reasons that it
wouldn't work all that easily.

I will say this Jim gave a couple of us a good chuckle.

[JAWS-Users] sluggish computer after hours of idle time

2013-03-14 Thread leonard morris
I have a HP laptop 32 bit windows seven with jaws v13 which is about six
years old. I think that might be the major problem itself. (smile)
However, the computer works well as long as I am doing something on it.
But, if I leave the computer for more than two hours or more without
accessing anything the computer becomes very sluggish to the point it
freezes and I have to do a hard reset with the power button. What I mean
by very sluggish is the arrow keys in a list of emails might take two
minutes or more to go to the next message, or alt tab might take a long
time to switch between programs. As for jaws the Braille display shows
information about a minute or more before I get speech. Having know
programs open and just sitting at the desktop and then trying to access
something doesn't resolve the sluggish issue. So, when I do the hard
reset and reboot the computer the computer will act normally. I am
typing this email with no issues but I bet if I went away from the
computer and tried to continue typing this email in about two hours it
would be a sluggish painstaking disaster. Let me list some things I have
tried and if anyone can add some additional task I should consider let
me know. Below is a list of stuff I have tried too resolve the issue.

1. Did a full (MSE) virus scan. No threats were detected.
2. Did a full malware scan. No issues were found.
3. Defrag showed know issues.
4. Checked disk for errors. Its set to correct any known issues after
the scan.
5. Did a system restore when the computer appeared to work normally.
this did not correct the problem.
6. Yelled and cursed at the computer and the dern thing just ignored me.

2013-03-14 Thread Chris Hill
First thing I'd do is go run the housecall free online virus scan from
www.trendmicro.com, always good to have a second opinion. Next thing
I'd do is find out where the machine blows air out, and sucks it in;
with it turned off block the fan with a paperclip so you can't spin it
too fast and blow in through the output ports with a can of air, it
could be full of junk and overheating.

[JAWS-Users] Accessing Embedded Attachments with JAWS, A Work-a-Round

2013-03-14 Thread Annette Carr
Recently there was a discussion I believe on this list about the problem of
not being able to access e-mail attachments that are embedded in the body of
an e-mail instead of being attached in the header. I do not remember seeing
a solution to this problem, so I am sharing instructions that I have
recently came up with to address this issue.

When you can't find an attachment that you know has been attached to an
e-mail, most likely the problem is that the document is embedded in the body
of the message. This happens when the message is created in Rich Tex Format
(RTF). JAWS is unable to find documents when they are attached in this
manner. If you follow the below steps, you will be able to access the
attachment.

1.Open the e-mail with the embedded attachment.

2. Use Control+f to forward the e-mail with the attachment.

3. Type your e-mail address in the To field and press Enter.

4. Press and release the Alt key to activate the ribbon.

5. Use the Right and/or Left arrows key to navigate to the Format Text
tab.

6. Press the Down arrow once to move to the Lower Ribbon.

7. Press the Tab key 5 times to get to the Format Group Box.

8. Use the Up and Down arrows to navigate through the 3 buttons, HTML,
Plain Text and Rich Text. Note that JAWS announces that the Rich Text
Format button is pressed. This confirms that the problem is that the
attachment is embedded in the body of the message instead of attached in the
header.

a. If you select HTML by pressing Enter when you are focused on it,
you will be returned to your message and you can Tab through the header and
find that the document is now attached in the traditional way and JAWS can
now find it.

b. If you select Plain Text by pressing enter when you are focused on
it, you might encounter a dialog box letting you know that some features are
not supported and asked if you want to continue. Tab to continue and press
Enter. You are returned to your message and you can Tab through the header
and find that the document is now attached in the traditional way and JAWS
can now find it.

9. Use the Alt+s command to send the message.

10. Once you receive the message you can use your Up or Down arrows to
navigate to the new message, and press enter to open it.

11. Use Shift+Tab to move to the attachment field in the header.

12. Use the Right arrow to navigate to the actual attachment and press
Enter to open it.

NOTE: If you anticipate only needing to read this document only this one
time, you do not need to actually send the message to yourself. Skip adding
your e-mail address and just tab to the attachment and open it.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS and Google Docs

2013-03-14 Thread Marvin Atkins
Hi all,

My wife is interviewing for a job through the Kidney Foundation in Canada
and this employer uses spreadsheets which she is to access through Google so
am I correct in assuming the employer must be using google Docs? Is Google
Docs accessible with JAWS? I haven't had time to look at this spreadsheet
yet but thought I would get some ideas from the list. My wife uses JAWS 12
on a windows 7 64-bit laptop and I believe she is using IE 9. I will be
looking at this spreadsheet on a XP desktop using JAWS 13, IE 8 and I have
never tried Google Docs before.
Any thoughts will be appreciated
Thanks,
Marvin

[JAWS-Users] jaws and visual studio 2012

2013-03-14 Thread Don Raikes
Hi all,

Does anyone know if visual studio express 2012 is accessible using jaws 14?

I am going to need to do some c++ development on windows soon, and if I can get
the VS express 2012 suite of tools to work for me that would be great.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] using iTunes to put a ring tone on my phone

2013-03-14 Thread David Ferrin
I'll try and answer you in this message because after multiple attempts at
doing an audio tutorial covering this topic I must admit it keeps coming out
like I am stumbling around which unfortunately is not too far from the
truth.

First be in I tunes and focus on the file in question, then hit the
applications key and pick get info. Then control tab until you land on the
information tab. There is where it will say GW meta data, so delete that and
type in what ever you want to call it. That will show up in I tunes as the
name of the ring tone.

I found it mostly by accident more or less. I thought why not nothing else
was working at the time so let me look in this sub menu, hopefully this will
solve your problem as well.

Re: [JAWS-Users] sluggish computer after hours of idle time

2013-03-14 Thread tim
Check your power settings, because it looks like your going into
sleep mode and jaws don't act right in that mode with some types of computers.

At 01:34 PM 3/14/2013, you wrote:
I have a HP laptop 32 bit windows seven with jaws v13 which is about
six years old. I think that might be the major problem itself.
(smile) However, the computer works well as long as I am doing
something on it. But, if I leave the computer for more than two
hours or more without accessing anything the computer becomes very
sluggish to the point it freezes and I have to do a hard reset with
the power button. What I mean by very sluggish is the arrow keys in
a list of emails might take two minutes or more to go to the next
message, or alt tab might take a long time to switch between
programs. As for jaws the Braille display shows information about a
minute or more before I get speech. Having know programs open and
just sitting at the desktop and then trying to access something
doesn't resolve the sluggish issue. So, when I do the hard reset and
reboot the computer the computer will act normally. I am typing this
email with no issues but I bet if I went away from the computer and
tried to continue typing this email in about two hours it would be a
sluggish painstaking disaster. Let me list some things I have tried
and if anyone can add some additional task I should consider let me
know. Below is a list of stuff I have tried too resolve the issue.

1. Did a full (MSE) virus scan. No threats were detected.
2. Did a full malware scan. No issues were found.
3. Defrag showed know issues.
4. Checked disk for errors. Its set to correct any known issues
after the scan.
5. Did a system restore when the computer appeared to work normally.
this did not correct the problem.
6. Yelled and cursed at the computer and the dern thing just ignored
me. (smile)

ah, yes, just so since if you delete the partition you have no drive just
a storage device

and no, its old tech and no longer truly applies correctly.
