[JAWS-Users] help needed with sound taxi

2013-06-23 Thread Suey
Hi can anybody help me out with using sound taxi please? I am trying to convert
some audio files, I’m using win 8 and jaws 14 and have installed sound taxi pro
along with the jaws script for it. I am managing to select the files that I
wish to convert, then it asks for my audible info which I enter but Jaws won’t
read anything out to me after that. I have tried looking for an online tutorial
for jaws users but there doesn’t seem to be any. I can’t even seem to access
any settings or menus. Can anybody explain to me how to set it up so that any
file placed into the chosen folder wil automatically be converted into a format
of my choosing? And also, where will the converted files appear? Thanks to
anybody who can assist

Re: [JAWS-Users] Can't pull up this internet article with JFW

2013-06-23 Thread Steve
True, but don't confuse the Sun Oracle Java script with the Adobe Java
add-on tool. They are entirely different bests.

I have uninstalled Oracle Java when the security flaw was exposed last
January. I haven't encountered a website that has caused me any issues
since then.

I am cognizant that there are instances where cross-platform apps use Java
and that there are times when Oracle's Java is mandatory. In those limited
cases, I would install it with a browser, then only use that particular
browser for those instances and use another browser for all other web
activity where Oracle's Java isn't necessary.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

In my message from Friday about using the Voice Adjustment dialog, I should
have added that when you change the voice person and tab to the save as

have).. Then you will be able to switch between them by using the
JAWSkey+control+s change voice profile dialog.

To use the other Vocalizer voice, you need to go to Voice Adjustment from
the JAWS options/Voices menu. Choose the Vocalizer profile and tab until it
says Voice Person. Arrow up or down until you hear the voice you want.
Then tab to save as and press enter.

Just an update, I quit JAWS and re-loaded and now, under the language menu
and voice profiles, there is one Daniel voice but the female voice is not
showing up, does anyone have any idea on what I could be doing wrong please?

Many thanks in anticipation,

Hi friends,

I have just installed two Vocalizer voices to try with the latest 14.4004
version of JAWS.
Can anyone tell me how I actually change the voice from eloquence to these
voices please, do I need to change the voice profile or can I just change
the voice on the fly?

Many thanks in anticipation,

2013-06-23 Thread Don Cher Bosch
Tim- Are you referring to Scripting of JAVA Applets? Mine is set to
'enabled'; but I've wondered about JAVA because the IE status line often
says things like JAVA void or something like that and it has made me wonder.
I've never manually installed JRE on this new computer after reading and
hearing contradictory things about it on this list and from FS tech support.
Is it required for IE to work well- and is it installed automatically with
IE or do I need to download it?

To get it working you have to go into your IE tools menu, Internet options,

[JAWS-Users] jaws 14 with itunes 10

2013-06-23 Thread Kelsey Nicolay

Hello,
I posted this question before, but it somehow didn't make it to
the list. I am using itunes 10. I honestly do not like the new
itunes so I'm reluctant to switch. I am currently running JAWS
14. I am able to accomplish tasks like importing and just
recently have figured out a way to use the itunes store.
However, I need some suggestions on how I could independently
accomplish syncing my ipod. I know it's a standard usb
connection, but the problem is knowing when it is safe to remove.
Are there keyboard commands for this? Also, how can I create
playlists in itunes? I am able to click the button for new
playlist but I don't see a way to select specific songs.
Finally, does anyone know how to burn CDS in itunes? For example,
if I've created a playlist that I want to burn to a CD, what
steps would I follow using JAWS?

Thanks,
Kelsey Nicolay

[JAWS-Users] WebVisum version confusion...

2013-06-23 Thread Don Cher Bosch
The current version of FireFox seems to be 2.1; and the current version of
WebVisum is 0.9; but

states that it Works with Firefox 3 - 5.*. I did think there were later
versions of FF, what am I missing?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Can't pull up this internet article with JFW

2013-06-23 Thread Don Cher Bosch
Guess what??? That G8 article site I could not get to with IE and JFW14 came
up immediately with my just-now-installed FoxFire browser and JFW14... so it
is definitely a browser issue!

I use BitDefender (a very good security program) but my computer was a
custom- so may not have any JAVA installed. I will take your suggestion and
check.

That depends on if your computer is name brand. With them it comes with
java, but as lot have ben un installing it because of viruses.
If you got a good anti virus program don't worry.
If you want to see if you have it or to install it go here,
http://www.java.com

You can test and install if need be.

True, but don't confuse the Sun Oracle Java script with the Adobe Java
add-on tool. They are entirely different bests.

I have uninstalled Oracle Java when the security flaw was exposed last
January. I haven't encountered a website that has caused me any issues
since then.

I am cognizant that there are instances where cross-platform apps use
Java and that there are times when Oracle's Java is mandatory. In
those limited cases, I would install it with a browser, then only use
that particular browser for those instances and use another browser for
all other web activity where Oracle's Java isn't necessary.
Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

This may or may not fix your problem, but does explain about the use
of java. Sense the big virus bug scare. Everyone has ben removing or
restricting the usage of java. When you do this don't except web
pages to act normal or work at all.
To get it working you have to go into your IE tools menu, Internet
options, security tab menu. Under custom... you can adjust this
  option for

java to work. When you stop java from working it also stops java
script from working. Those are 2 highly used languages on the for web
pages now.

Ok, when I opened up that page, probably due to my browser's
security settings using IE8, it gave me a warning that the page I
opened (Google) was trying to forward me to another page (Quartz).

I clicked on the second link, and the page opened. It had a blob
about this not being a supported browser, but the bottom heading, a
level 2, was the article on the G8 Not Paying Terrorists.

I can get to the page without a problem- but the article is not
there- just another link to it. Activating this second link
yields nothing. I'm not using Google as my home page, not sure if
you are saying there is a relationship between Quartz and Google
  or what.

Your link was badly broken up in the retransmission. Try bringing
   it up

   in
Firefox, or using the FREE alternative nonvisual screen-reader.
Google now likes tpo format its pages to accord with Chrome.
