Re: [JAWS-Users] compiling scripts or making an executible file

2013-08-14 Thread David Ferrin
Honestly I would be interested myself. Some time ago I was able to create
self installing scripts but then the 64 bit operating systems came out and
what I had at that time didn't work on those.

I noticed that the installer you use was not the same company as what I had,
granted I haven't followed up on such things very diligently but I am still
curious.

Hello David,

I had the same problem until a HIMS tech had me download a newer USB driver.
I am using Windows 8 and a 64-bit system. There is a link below that you
can use to download the USB driver he had me install if you want to try it.
Your display should be in the USB mode. The switch on the side should be in
the position toward you. If it is slid toward the back then Bluetooth mode
is active. Terminal mode using a USB connection is what you want. You
should unload JAWS after installing the USB driver. Put the display in USB
mode with terminal mode chosen. After installing the USB driver you might
even want to turn the display off, unload JAWS, turn the display back on and
get it back into terminal mode using USB and reload JAWS. The link below is
for a zip file. You will need to open the .ZIP file to find the
installation file for the driver. I hope you get it working.

When I did tech support as a GwMicro dealer, you got the Braille Edge out of

Don't know if that helps with the current version, but give it a shot. You
completely unload Jaws with Windows-Insert-F4.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws emoticons

2013-08-14 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Chris,

Here is a list of some emoticons that I have had for some time. It is by all
means not all-inclusive. For some of them it is important that you pay
attention to whether a letter being used is upper case or lower case. Some of
these also require a number pad. For those you put the number lock key in the
on position, hold down the Alt key and type in the numbers before letting the
Alt key up. Remember to turn number lock back off and do a space after using
that method. Some of the symbols are also quite small so you might want to
increase the font size a little. Some of the emoticons have three or four
entries so when you hear JAWS and when reading by line you will hear all of
them. For example, smile has four different entries. The list is shown
below.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] compiling scripts or making an executable file

2013-08-14 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

I can't help with making an executable file to install scripts. But to
manually compile the scripts you have, do the following.

1. Find the script files you have. One of them for each script set should
have a JSS file extension.
2. Go to the start menu, then to all programs, and then to JAWS14.
3. in the JAWS14 menu, right arrow and find explore JAWS. Then right arrow
again and find Explore my settings and press enter. If your JAWS is using
English, a folder named ENU will open. The folder will have a different
name for different languages.
4. Then for each .JSS file you have, copy all the files that have the same
name as the .JSS file with a file extension starting with j into the JAWS
user settings folder, (ENU).
5. While JAWS 14 is running, go to the JAWS user settings folder, press
enter on each of the JSS files to open it in Script Manager.
6. When the file is open, press control+s to save and compile it. Then
press alt+F4 to close the Script Manager. Then go back to the next .JSS
file you want to compile and repeat these last two steps until all the
scripts have been compiled.

Assuming you don't get any compile errors, you're ready to use the scripts
In JAWS14.

[JAWS-Users] jaws v13 repair

2013-08-14 Thread leonard morris
I am using the latest version of Jaws v13. I did a Jaws repair
using the run dialog box command line:

C:\J13.0.1006-32bit.exe /type repair

and after Jaws was reconfigured I rebooted the computer per Jaws
instructions to implement Jaws changes. I was hoping to fix Jaws not
reading Thunderbird menus correctly. For example, when trying to arrow
down in the view menu Jaws keeps opening the tool bar menu options
instead of just going down to the next option such as folders, layout
etc etc. When I switch to Jaws v12 Thunderbird menus read correctly. Why
didn't the repair correct the problems and what could I try next? Thanks.

Yes, I caught that.

I finally went through the repair for nothing, it fixed exactly
nothing for me.
When ever a page loads, I still hear documents, especially when in
Itunes.
I am still blinded to my Mcafee anti-virous software, which was
working fine last week.

thanks for your help, I will email F s support again...

According to the experts on this list I believe you have to cap the C:
drive letter in the command line.

Using the run dialog box, is this the correct way to write the repair
line?

c:\J14.0.5005ENU-64bit.exe /type repair

After hitting enter, and going through all the clicks, it tells me
that another version of jaws is installed on the computer instead of
giving me the repair option.

Any help would be appreaciated...

It don't matter if the drive letter is caps. Just as long as the
command is typed right,

c:\J14.0.5005ENU-64bit.exe /repair
