Re: [JAWS-Users] the word problem

2013-08-21 Thread Brian Lee
Hi Lenny,

When in the processes page of the task manager see if there is a More
Details button. I am not using Windows 7 but I think there should be such a
button that will show more of the running processes. Even if you find the
Windword.exe processes and end the tasks that really will only cause you to
not have to restart your system. You might also want to check your folder
where documents are saved and see if the owner versions of documents are
being deleted by Word when you close documents. These files start with a
tilde followed by a dollar sign and then the rest of the file name. If
these are not being deleted by Word because of documents not being shut down
correctly then the type of error message you are getting can result.
Deleting them and restarting your system might or might not help. You might
consider doing a repair on the Office installation. If you have Microsoft
Office go to Programs and Features in the control panel. In the list of
installed programs find Microsoft Office. If you have Word that is not part
of an Office installation then find that program in the list. Use the
application key and choose the "change" menu item. In the resulting dialog
choose the repair button and then follow prompts. It will take a while to
complete.

Hopefully, this will work for you.

Take care.

Hello Lenny, When you opened the task manager did you go to the processes
page tab? It sounds like you might have just checked the applications that
were open in the application page. Use Ctrl with tab key in the task
manager to get to the processes tab and then check the list of items for
more than one listing of the winword.exe process. Use the end task button
if you find winword.exe.This might not be the case but if all you found
were listings for the 3 applications that were open at the time then you
might not have been in the processes page of the dialog. I hope you get it
worked out. Take care. Brian Lee

[JAWS-Users] found the duplicates for the word problem

2013-08-21 Thread Lenny McHugh
Brian, Ok I first located a file in my documents and opened it I then
launched word and entered a test line and alt f4 I was able to save the test
file with no problems and as soon as it was saved the open document popped
up. I tried to close word and the file in use message came up In the
processes now there are two WinWord I ended the first event and was able to
end word with alt f4.
Thanks for your help, it is a pain but better than the forced restart of the
machine.

Never tried ctrl Z for that purpose. When I want to recover a deleted
email, I go to the deleted folder and either read it right there, or if I
decide I really wanted to keep it, I use ctrl shift V to move it back to
the in-box on another folder for permanent storage.

Outlook

Hello list,

So I had been meaning to write about this for a while as I wonder if
others experience this same issue with Jaws.

When I’m in the inbox list box for an email account in Outlook and am
going through the various messages, I sometimes delete an email I wasn’t
sure I wanted to delete. Being subscribed to many mailing lists and
whatnot, my inbox fills up very quickly and especially in the morning for
example, I blaze through all the emails and threads that are of no
interest to me.

Like I said, when doing this, I will sometimes go a bit too fast and
delete a message that I maybe wanted to read or wasn’t sure if I heard the
subject line correctly. In these instances, it’s easy enough to press the
control z command and the message will reappear. This is with a pop3
account configuration by the way. When I press the control z command, the
message will often enough pop back up without an interruption and I can
continue my cleaning out of my mailbox. There are times however, when
invoking the undo command that Jaws will go silent for a while, my system
will get a bit sluggish and jaws will sometimes outright crash.

There is no rhyme or reason to which emails I wish to recover that trigger
this Jaws behavior. It can be a standalone message, a reply to someone
else’s inquiry, etc.

Do others in fact deal with this problem and is there a way to fix this? I
have experienced this issue with prior versions of Jaws (I’m using the
most recent release on a 64 bit Win7 laptop) In both Outlook 2003 and 2010
and on other computers.

Thanks,

I don't get those messages until I try to close Word. Pressing escape will
usually get you to the main Word screen. If I then try to exit, I get the
message that changes have been made that affect the global template. I

Subject: [JAWS-Users] PowerPoint 2010 Notes & JAWS

Hello All,

At work I am using PowerPoint 2010 and JAWS 12 with Windows7. I need to
read the information in the Notes Pane of PowerPoint. The JAWS 12 help said
to use Control+Shift+n, but it does not work. FS Tech support confirmed
this and said that they think that this problem has been fixed in JAWS 14.
Does anyone know if this is the case? When using JAWS 14 can I create
and/or edit notes?

Thanks,

Annette

Re: [JAWS-Users] Issue with Jaws and undoing a delete action in Outlook

2013-08-21 Thread Cristóbal
I find invoking the ctl z command quicker as I don't have to tab back and
forth and arrow to different folders. Especially since it's just for a quick
review to make sure it wasn't something I wanted to read or to double check
that I read the subject line correctly. I do use the shift+ctl+v command to
save messages, but that's something else and I've never had problems with
Jaws going quiet or freezing up on me when using it.

Never tried ctrl Z for that purpose. When I want to recover a deleted email,
I go to the deleted folder and either read it right there, or if I decide I
really wanted to keep it, I use ctrl shift V to move it back to the in-box
on another folder for permanent storage.

Hello list,

So I had been meaning to write about this for a while as I wonder if others
experience this same issue with Jaws.

When I’m in the inbox list box for an email account in Outlook and am going
through the various messages, I sometimes delete an email I wasn’t sure I
wanted to delete. Being subscribed to many mailing lists and whatnot, my
inbox fills up very quickly and especially in the morning for example, I
blaze through all the emails and threads that are of no interest to me.

Like I said, when doing this, I will sometimes go a bit too fast and delete
a message that I maybe wanted to read or wasn’t sure if I heard the subject
line correctly. In these instances, it’s easy enough to press the control z
command and the message will reappear. This is with a pop3 account
configuration by the way. When I press the control z command, the message
will often enough pop back up without an interruption and I can continue my
cleaning out of my mailbox. There are times however, when invoking the undo
command that Jaws will go silent for a while, my system will get a bit
sluggish and jaws will sometimes outright crash.

There is no rhyme or reason to which emails I wish to recover that trigger
this Jaws behavior. It can be a standalone message, a reply to someone
else’s inquiry, etc.

Do others in fact deal with this problem and is there a way to fix this? I
have experienced this issue with prior versions of Jaws (I’m using the most
recent release on a 64 bit Win7 laptop) In both Outlook 2003 and 2010 and on
other computers.

Re: [JAWS-Users] problem installing the mirror driver

2013-08-21 Thread David Ferrin
Good news, somewhere in the over 100 updates the driver in question was
upgraded to the most recent version and a repair of JAWS solved the problem.
It took almost an hour and a half to install all of the updates but it is
functional and life is only slightly less aggravating.

Thank you again guys for your replies. You should also know that even if it
turns out that I don't need this kind of information it never the less gets
filed away for the future BYNK.

Hello:

Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific Technical Support.

Following is the information I told you about during our conversation
today.

JAWS 14.0 mirror driver requires that the file “WDF01000.sys” be version
1.11.xxx. This file is located in c:\Windows\System32\Drivers. You can find
the version by right-clicking on this file. Choose Properties and then click
on the Details tab. For product version, as an example, mine says File
version 1.11.9200.16384.

In order to update this, please click on the following link that will take
you to Microsoft’s Support article on how to download and apply the
update.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2685811

After the WDF file has been updated to the current version, The Freedom
Scientific mirror driver, from JAWS 13, will need to be uninstalled.

>From the Start Menu, in the Search field, type device manager and then
press Enter.

Tab to the Treeview and press the letter D until you get to Display
Adapters.

Expand this and locate the Freedom scientific mirror driver. You may find
more than one. If so, remove all of them until the only item remaining is
your video driver.

Once the Freedom Scientific mirror driver has been removed (select
"uninstall" from the application context menu, or the Actions menu), you
will need to run a /type repair on JAWS 14.

To run this type of repair, please do the following:

Download and save JAWS 14.0.4004. In your case, you already have the file,
so you can skip this step, of course.

http://www.freedomscientific.com/downloads/jaws/jaws-downloads.asp

Next, navigate to where you saved the file; and, press Shift+Application
Key on the j14.0.4004 file and choose “Copy As Path”

Then, open the Run dialog with Windows key+R.

Paste the file in and at the end of the line, put a space and then /type
repair.

Your line should look like the following:

"C:\Users\xxx\Downloads\J14.0.4004-64bit.exe" /type repair

Press Enter.

Restart the computer when prompted at the end of the repair maintenance.
You should no longer receive the Freedom Scientific mirror Driver message.

Upgrading my wife's system to windows 7 home premium from XP pro and the
mirror driver insists upon failing no matter what I do.

I know the video is working fine because she is getting resolutions up to
1600 which makes her icons like dots on the screen but it just won't take
the mirror driver. Obviously this effects doing anything at all with the
JAWS cursor and in other places.

Her device manager is happily reporting everything is fine and trying to
locate newer drivers than what 7 has by default has cost an entire evening
without any success other than to keep us from enjoying our evening. If
anybody out there has an idea please speak up. I checked out the FS
documentation on this subject and no luck on that front.

I know silly me for thinking that I have done this before 3 times the fourth
should go smoothly, ever been wrong it has happened to me.

Try updating the video driver. If you only have the 16 bit option showing.
Then windows is working off of a generic video driver. This happens a lot
with upgrade from xp with old dated hardware. Then do your repair on jaws.

hello Bill;

well, here's how I do this.

1, create new message, ctrl+n;

2, alt+a=accounts,
now a list of my accounts comes up,
I arrow to the account I wish to have the email sent from, press enter,

now tab to the subject and continue with your message.

Really? I just tried that, it doesn't work for me. Exactly where do you hit alt
A?

hello there;
if you create a new message, then press alt+a, now you should be able to select
which email account you wish to send from?
also, you can choose which profile is the default, and you can have outlook
always ask at startup of the program.

If you set up your Gmail account for IMAP, rather than POP3, Outlook will
automatically create a separate inbox and set of associated folders for it. To
do this you must go into your preferences or setting area in Gmail on-line, and
set it for IMAP. Then you have to create a new account in Outlook using the
Tools Email dialogue box, and make sure Outlook has all the correct settings
for that email provider.

As far as sending, you can change which account does the sending in that same
Tool/Email set up area. You can also set it up to send from different addresses
depending on which in-box you are in. It's a pain to set this all up, and you
may need to experiment a bit to get it right, but I've done it, and it is
doable.
Bill

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Outlook 2007 And Multiple Accounts

Hi friends,

does anyone have any instructions on how to use Microsoft Outlook 2007 with
multiple email accounts please?

Basically I have two email accounts set up, a BT account and a GMail account.

At the moment, messages from both accounts come in to my inbox and I would like
to separate them out if possible in some way.

Also, when I send a new message, it seems to go from the default account which
is the BT one, do I have to use some sort of send as command if I want to send
the message from the second GMail account which is not the default account?

Many thanks in anticipation for any help.
