Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre, Getting It To Show In System Tray

2013-10-26 Thread Rich

Hi Mike,
I am considering either Vipre or Quick Heel as my anti virus.
How did you decide on Vipre?
How accessible is it with JAWS and, most importantly, how well does it work?

Thanks for your feedback and comparisons.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Router IP address?

2013-10-26 Thread Steve

Go into the router screen. Look at the first table, click Wireless link.

When that opens, look for the security combo box. It should have security
enabled. Then, choose security type, strongly recommend wpa and you can use
tkip/aes. Then, there is a radio button where you can use the password that
is part of your gateway label, or you can select the custom password and
choose one that you would use for your security key.

Then, when you click the Save button, you will need to enter the UVerse
Gateway password to save those settings.

The procedure for a regular router is similar, except you generally enter
the administrative password before it will let you see those settings, and
each router's screen and options will vary slightly.

UVerse standard is 192.168.1.254

You will need to know your modem password to save any changes you make in
the configuration.

Yes, if you have wifi it is better than good to encrypt it. You don't
want a neighbor getting on your network and downloading porn.

Hi all,
How does one find the IP address of a router?
This was issued by AT&T Uverse.
I am wondering if it is good to encrypt the router for safety.

Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre, Getting It To Show In System Tray

2013-10-26 Thread Mike B.
Hi Rich,

I decided on Vipre by listening to others using it & that it is also highly
rated, if not #1, by Consumer Reports magazine. i like the program very
much & find it very Jaws friendly. There are some instances that you need
to route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor & use the left mouse click button,
particularly in the Scan Settings tab / page to chec & uncheck some scan
settings preferences. If you have a home network you will need to make some
changes in the Vipre Firewall. I'm still learning my way around the program
but, all in all I like it very much. Website link below:

http://www.vipreantivirus.com/

They have 2 different versions. Vipre AntiVirus & Vipre Internet Security.
The Internet Security is the AntiVirus program plus other added features
that you can read about on their website. We're running the Vipre Internet
Security suite.

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] Auslogics Issued, Resolved

Hi All,

Just to let y'all know, Auslogics has sent me an email stating they're in
the process of refunding my full purchase amount & will work on making
Auslogics Boost Speed 6 as accessible as Boost Speed 5. I won't hold my
breath about Boost Speed 6 accessibility in the future but, it's nice to
know that they honor their money back guarantee without any hassle.
Take care.

I agree. I have been using Vipre for about 4 years and find it to protect
my computer really well and it works good with Jaws. I use it in
conjunction with Malwarebytes and between the two programs I have never had

Re: [JAWS-Users] In Firefox, is there a way toupdate plug-ins?

2013-10-26 Thread Flor Lynch

David,

Firstly, when you start Firefox, if there are updates to its add-ons,
you will (or should) get a notification to that effect and the list of
add-ons will open. So you choose the add-on you want to update, and (I
think) tab to and activate update button, separately for each one. Not
all of them are updated at the same time, and some not at all or only
rarely.

[JAWS-Users] Does JAWS14 work or not in Word 2000?

2013-10-26 Thread Flor Lynch

Hi,

A friend, not on list, wishes to read back documents in word 2000 with
his newly installed JAWS14 on Windows Xp. Can he do this? He finds that
although JAWS will echo what he types, when he reads the document with
JAWSKey+DownArrow JAWS reads nothing, saying 'blank' when he goes line
by line. We know JAWs DOESN'T OFFICIALLY SUPPORT that version of Word
any more, but does that mean also that JAWS14 doesn't work with it?
