: Hello,
: Xp was great, but windows 7 is very accessible. What you need to
: do is have someone change everything over to classic view. This
: will make everything look and behave just like xp. I did this
: when I was using vista and use windows 7 now and my cousin did
: that for me. It works great. You don't even know it's windows
: 7. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
: As a word of caution, if you are using an earlier version of
: JAWS, you may find that it is not fully compatible. I han into
: this issue when I got windows 7 last year. I was using a version
: of JAWS 11 that was not fully supported, so I was getting some
: error messages, but JAWS still worked. My cousin just called
: Freedom Scenentific and they let him download a newer update that
: fixed the problem. So like I said, use windows 7 in classic
: view.

Especially on JAWS, it doesn't scaille up like it was meant to from what I see.
It doesn't go up the scaille like I would guess it should when it says JAWS in
other words.

Below are several notes with examples of Jaws singing. Read character by

There is probably some ASCII numeric representation, but I'm not sure what it

position your cursor on the reverse quote mark. Press Numpad 5 three times
quickly and JAWS will speak the ASCII or code equivalent of that character.

Now when you want to type it, just turn NumLock on, hold down the Alt key and
press that code as a 4-digit number (use a leading zero as necessary).

Meh, It kind of works but not like Decktalk. Very cool though. I wander how you
could get to hold a note. It was just like sticado what it did. People don't
sing like that but for perhaps 2 or 3 notes if ever. Very cool though I say
again. It does still work though I just tried but it was too sticado. Now
we're on that subject though, you guys know when this would come in handy? When
you are reading lyrics to a song. Now how does that grabb ya? Think about it.
Have JAWS actually sing the xsong rather than just reading it. Or wrap if it's

Yep. Though I'll check it out. It would be cool if you could do it with
Vocalizer though. I'd love to hear Jenn sing. Ah Jenn. I don't get why they got
rid of her. She was so cool. Maybe I just have some nostalgia towards her
because she was the voice of the manuals for the PTR1 and PTR2. She was the
actual guide voice of said devices. I'll check this out though. Though if it is
the message I remember frome a long time ago, meh it only kind of worked. It
wasn't like Dektalk.

It's still a question of making the synth sing, in this case the version of
Eloquence used by JAWS. The coding may not work well or at all with other
synths.

Hi team,
This is srinivas from Bangalore India. I am new to the list and this is

I need your suggestions/guidence to overcome from the challenge with JAWS.

Friends, I recently Joined IBM India. There my profile is to assign the
insidents/tickets to the resolver groups from the tool called Rimidy.
For that, I need to open the another tool called Cytrix. from there I have
to open Rimidy. Apart from that, there is no another way.
My challenge is, Jaws is userly friendly till I open Cytrix. If I click
Rimidy from there, Jaws is not saying anything. Not even time, title etc.
But it will say log on frame. After I enter user name and password, it will
say starting rimidy. Thats it. after that, If I navigate with arrow keys or
tab key it will not say anything.

If I restart the Jaws and press insert f1 twice, it will say help topic is
not available.
I am not aware how to overcome from this challenge.

Friends, I need your suggestions/guidence in this regard as earliest as I
need to submit the report to my manager regarding the accessibility.

So friends, Kindly help me in this regard as soon as possible.

Call me if you have any clarifications.

With best regards,
Srinivas MVLES.

Hi team,
This is srinivas from Bangalore India. I am new to the list and this is
first email.

Saddly the question is more how do you get eloquence or Real Speak or

has tried. I know this was an awesome thing people just loved to do with Dek
Talk. It is very hard to do too from what I remember too because Jonathan
Mozen interviewed the guy that use to do it. Someone did it on the last
episode for 2008 of main menu. I loved that little show they made up with
the rushins taking over, killing Paull and Windy and stuff. Grinn. Saddly it
disappeared though. Then Harry sings at the end end. It was very funnty.
That's when the other guys show up. It was mad funny. But like I said, that
episode of main menu is gone. It's like it never happened.

Remember, the biggest helper to you with Windows 7 is the way the start menu
works.

Just press your windows key and start typing part of what you're looking
for. Example, shut for shutdown. As you press the downarrow key you will
see different results, just enter on the one you want to execute. You can
always add more letters to the initial string by just typing them.

This is really great for finding a program, or a file where you know part of
the name but maybe don't remember which directory it is in.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Switching From XP To Windows7

2014-01-05 Thread Steve
Those are totally your opinions, and are not backed up by any reputable
computer experts.

The vast majority of programs work with Windows 7 just fine; Windows 7
already has vastly improved security over XP and it will continue to get
security updates through 2020, whereas there will no longer be security
patches for Xp as of April 8, 2014. After that, XP will be increasingly
vulnerable to hacks and exploits. I don't use a ton of different programs,
but I've yet to encounter any major programs that didn't work on Windows 7
including a couple audio editors.

If you must use an XP system after that date, you will be much safer if it
is an isolated system.

Below are my opinions.

Don't switch to Windows 7. It's just a big hastle. I've had a Windows 7
machine for two months, and I still don't use it regularly. Keep getting
automatic updates if you must, but I believe that the XP security risks
are hiped by Microsoft to try to push people toward more modern, bloated
operating systems.
From my experience, you will see all sorts of error messages when trying
to instal your favorite programs to Windows 7. Some programs you use every
day will no longer work, some not even in compatibility mode.
It seems to me that Windows 7 was not made for a power user but radically
simplified and coolized to simplify the computer at the expense of
efficiency.
For all around grunt work (sound management, music ripping, document
editing, PDF viewing), I'll put XP against Windows 7 any day.

2014-01-05 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Kelsey,
Actually, if you have your updates set to "automatic", you can choose
when they are installed, such as daily, or a particular day of the week, and
an approximate time.
This is true of both Windows XP and 7.
Note:
If you have your updates set to automatic, you will not have an opportunity
to review them before they are installed.
Not all updates are necessary for every system,
I have found this to be true especially in Win7.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Tomorrow's another day, another way!
and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved!
