hello there;

yes, ctrl+shift+n, will put you into an edit field where you can just type
the name of a new folder.
this is true for the desktop, and documents.
in my previous message, I gave the long version to create a folder, I
believe it's always good to learn how to navigate different menus.

You can press
Ctrl+shft+n
Type folder name, enter

Or
Application key ass suggested
Or move with alt key to ribbon and tab to new folder button
Or 
Move with alt key to ribbon and tab to quick Access bar. If there is new
folder button then tab space bar or enter or press alt+ corresponding number
of the button
Alt+3 activates third button on the quick  Access bar.

  I have 2 PC's, one is Win7 home and is the main PC.

The other is Win 7 pro.

How can I network the 2 PC's?

I would like to be able to share documents, music, and pictures with the 2

Alt+3 is a Microsoft Word new folder command. It would not work outside 
MS Word.
