[JAWS-Users] External Drives & Windows Explorer

2014-03-13 Thread Raj
Hello Guys,
not sure if you tried this, but I find once you select the drive in windows
explorer/my computer, but don't open it. go to property by using the context
menu or using the alt enter key combination.
Once you are there, hold down ctrl and tab to the auto play tab and select
prompt me each time, and tab to the okay button.
If this does not work, it is a problem with the newer window crap!

Re: [JAWS-Users] 2007 Excel column move question.

2014-03-13 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Scott,

I am not sure why it didn't work for you. Perhaps there are merged or split
cells in the worksheet preventing the action. Another method you can try is
to move to the column just after the Names column, press the application
key, arrow down to the insert menu item, press enter, and arrow down to the
column to the left radio button or choice and press enter key. You can then
move to the column you want to move, select it using CTRL+spacebar, cut
using CTRL+X move to the new empty column and paste using CTRL+V. Again
though, if there are merged cells this can cause some problems. The first
method should have worked though so there might be something like merged
cells.

In the method I mentioned in my previous message the keystroke of
CTRL+Shift+= is the command for inserting cut cells. If you want to try
without using the keystroke then move to the column to the right of Names
(after selecting and cutting the information to be inserted) and use the
application key instead. There will be a choice for inserting cut cells.
However, if merged cells exist it might not work. I can't think of any
other reason it isn't working for you. Perhaps someone else can offer a
resolution. If you want to send me a copy of the worksheet I will be happy
to check it out as well. My Email is brianl...@charter.net

Take care.

Select the column you want to move by using CTRL+Spacebar. Cut the column

use the insert command of CTRL+Shift+=. The column being moved should
appear between the Names column and the column that previously followed the
Names column.

I hope it works for you.

Pete,

I don't know about your specific external drive. If it comes up, you
probably don't need to use their software. I am assuming here that you are
talking about a USB external drive.

If you are talking about an external hard disk, you may need to run the
Seagate Disk Wizzard to format the disk so the computer will recognize it.
That shouldn't be necessary with a USB external drive.

Re: [JAWS-Users] How to Delete the Word 2010 Template

2014-03-13 Thread Liuda
I know everyone will be thrilled that they no longer need to hear about my
problem. I have resolved it, but not with this complicated method, however.
I used the Home Tab in an open Word doc. That had the print exactly as I
wanted it to be. I went to Font and did a few gymnastics and accidentally
fixed the problem somehow, finally without dealing with the file in the
Registry. Sometimes, procedures can be too complicated for some to follow
and an easier method must be located. This is what happened for me and I do
thank everyone for their time in trying, though.

Hello Liuda,

Here are steps for trying to reset your normal template without deleting it,
followed by steps for deleting the normal template so it can be created
again when you restart your computer and launch Word again. If you have no
macros or specially created styles then you might want to just delete the
template. Otherwise you can try the first set of steps shown below to
restore the defaults.

Restoring default settings to the template:

1. Type or paste the following into the Windows start menu search box:
%appdata%\microsoft\templates
2. Find the normal.DOTM file.
3. Ppress the application key and arrow down to the Open menu item.
4. Press enter key to open the template.
5. To delete any unwanted text use CTRL+a (the select all command) and
press the delete key.
6. Press CTRL+A again and press delete key again. This deletes the ending
paragraph mark that remains after deleting unwanted text.
7. Press Ctrl+Space Bar. This sets the character formatting for the
paragraph back to its default based on the underlying style.
8. Press Ctrl+Q. This sets the paragraph formatting for the paragraph back
to its default, again based on the underlying style.
9. Save the template.
10. Restart the computer.
11. Exit and restart Word.

Deleting the Normal.DOTM file:

1. Press the Windows key and type or paste the following path into the
search box:
%appdata%\microsoft\templates
2. Find the normal.DOTM file and delete it.
3. Restart your computer to register the changed entries in the registry.
4. Open Word.
The default should be Calibri font with a size of 11 point and the normal
style being used.

I hope you get it working.

Take care.
