[JAWS-Users] Surface Pro Users: Feedback Requested.
Hi Guys, I am Amar Jain, an advocate based out of Mumbai, India. I am working with a corporate law firm in Banking Finance along with Capital Markets. I am facing the challenge of taking notes while on a client call or in a meeting in a comfortable way. To sort that out, I am considering to buy a Surface Pro Tablet on an urgent basis which would give me the portability as well as full fledged features. Since the Surface Pro is not available in India yet, I would request for your valuable feedback in its functioning with Jaws, as I have none to try my hands on. I have heard one major issue is that of keyboard lag sometimes. Any feedback will be deeply appreciated. Regards, Amar Jain. try to find it out through run dialogue box. Hit in run, say for e.g. D: or F:, depending upon the drives in your system. Make sure that the drive is powered on properly, meaning all electrical connections are made and any power buttons are switched to the on position. Also, make sure that the drive is plugged into a USB 2.0 port, and nothing less. This actually helps you with my next point, which is that if the drive is not self powered, meaning there are no electrical cords to plug into an electrical socket, then you can only use a USB 2.0 port, or else, get a USB cord with two USB male connections on one side so you can plug it into two USB 1.0, or 1.1 ports, as that's the only way you'll get the drive to have enough power to run. Hope this helps. Hi, Judy. I simply want to put a member on moderation. Is this going to be possible? What's with these buttons collapsed anyway? There once were people who were so interested in helping screen readers survive at Yahoo. A Moderator's Central group was even created where questions could be asked and answered. Now, what can we do to combat this when we should have equal access in whatever way it takes to moderate a group just like our perfectly sighted counterparts. I have nobody with sight to call upon and I am on my own. Next option is to contact Yahoo somehow and find out how we can do all operations that everyone else can do. There is a huge Yahoo installation about 5 miles from me and I am so tempted to go knocking on doors soon. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Yahoo
Hi, as far as I can tell there is no way to put someone on moderation now. I have tried to go on and take someone off and as you said, that button for management is collapsed, doesn't work. When I try to activate it, it won't read what is on the screen. I have contacted ACB about this, thinking that it is to the point of a large organization getting involved here because it is getting worse. Yes, years ago, people left Google to go to Yahoo because it was more user friendly for us. My understanding is that their new CEO is a former Google administrator. I would be glad to talk to you, as this is getting kind of off topic for the jaws list. Anyone interested write me at bunchkinb...@sbcglobal.net. Re: [JAWS-Users] external portable harddrive
the program cannot be used by keyboard navigation which means using the tab key and the alt key to navigate the menu bar. do you know of an assessible program that will work? -Original Message- From: Steve Sent: Saturday, April 12, 2014 10:51 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] external portable harddrive Yup, I have an idea. If your disk is not shown, then you have two possibilities. I'm amazed that it doesn't recognize, but I've had experience with other Seagate drives that run in an external enclosure. First, find the DiscWizard program on the Seagate website. http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/discwizard/ Second, to get an external disk running with Windows, look at this article on how to use the disc wizard http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/201943en?language=en_US Steve Lansing, MI - Original Message - From: Kevin Lee klee...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Friday, April 11, 2014 9:30 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] external portable harddrive I bought a Seagate Expansion 500GB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 from amazon thinkinking it would be just like a flashdrive. I received it and opened it and connected it to my computer and I got the normal computer is detecting your new device, then computer device driver installed successfully. then I searched in my computer and I could not find an icon for the drive, in other words its not there! anyone have any insights about what I need to do? I already searchedSeagate for answers with no luck or even an email support contact. email is golden ! Re: [JAWS-Users] external portable harddrive
You'll have to use the JAWS cursor for much of this. This is what I've done many times for these disk wizard programs and it still works out. Not sure Mike. Under personlize, I have my computer set on windows 7 basic, I am not sure if this would make a difference or not. -Original Message- From: Mike B. Re: [JAWS-Users] View Toolbars Settings
Hi Jim, Well, after checking again today the menues show so, as long as that is good I guess it doesn't make any difference what does or, does not show in the Toolbars. Thanks again for your input. Take care. [JAWS-Users] jaws and websites
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has had experiences with newer vs older versions of jaws and how accessible a website may be. I fully understand that it seems that websites that used to be accessible are no longer accessible, sometimes it seems like overnight. But I wondered if anyone noticed if it had anything to do with how current a version of jaws you are using. Meaning that it is accessible now with the latest jaws but not say, with jaws 13. For years I have shopped on LL Bean website, at least I could look up info and call in an order, but for the last couple weeks I can do nothing on their website. I can't search, there are all these click to hide boxes and weird stuff I can't get anywhere. Any thoughts or observations? Thanks.
