You might be able to get part of an install done with a screen reader,
but if you want something that is fool proof, you will want to consider
making an unattended installation file. Believe me, when done right, it
can save you time and work. If done wrong, it will make you pull your
hair out.

[JAWS-Users] not understanding how to drag and drop with jaws

2014-07-21 Thread Joanne
I read up on this and I know the key command of insert, control and num pad
slash, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Is there a detailed tutorial or
can someone walk me through every step? When I'm in the folder that needs
items dragged i get a message to go to the folder where you drop the items but
I can't get it to drop. Do you select the folder first and then just go to the
folder and drop it there without first using the jaws keystrokes in the folder
I want to drag? In other words, I select what needs to be dragged, stay in
that folder and do the jaws command. Then I go to the empty folder and do the
command a second. I guess my thinking is you have to do it once for dragging
items and then another time in the drop folder. Please help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] not understanding how to drag and drop with jaws

2014-07-21 Thread Mario Brusco
drag and drop is basically for sighted users who use the mouse and klick on
things instead of using the keyboard. for us blind users, we usually use
cut/copy and paste. see Tom's answer. just to add, ctrl is an abreviation
for control key, control+x is to cut, control+c is for copy and control+v is
to paste. these keystrokes are windows commands, not JAWS commands, which
are generic/global to what ever program you use in windows.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Vipre Antivirus

2014-07-21 Thread Mike Boyd

I have been using Vipre Internet Security with JAWS since it first came out
on the market. Back then, when you bought the software, it was good for the
life of the computer, and I still have the same one. So, because of this, I
get the latest upgrade every year, so I now am running the 2014 version. It
works great, and is the most accessible anti virus software that I have ever
seen. All parts of it are accessible with JAWS, I use JAWS 15, and it is
simple to set up the scan schedule, which you can set it up to scan every
day if you wanted to and choose between a quick scan or a deep scan. A
manual scan is also easy to perform as is setting up the firewall to block
or allow all sorts of things. I recommend this software to anyone who asks.

I also have Vipre Internet Security 2014, but find that I need to use the
JAWS cursor to review a bit to get an idea what I need to do. I find it a
bit disorientated in the settings tab for scanning. I wonder if there's a
bit of scripting that can deal with this issue. I hope it's clear as to what
I'm trying to say. Somebody should make some scripts that facilitate the
areas where the JAWS cursor is needed.

I'm not really complaining (or maybe I am), but VIS seems to be the most
accessible than other Internet security programs.

I also wonder if I do encounter a virus or other malware, what Vipre will do
and how JAWS will react in regards to interfacing with the alert.

no, it's not free. it does cost, I'm not sure of the current cost, but I
think you can get the antivirus for up to 12 computers for a one time cost
of $99. or pay for a 1, 2 or 3 year subscription for included phone support.
the $99 only applies to the antivirus. the Internet Security is based on a
subscription.

I'm not really complaining (or maybe I am), but VIS seems to be the most

I also wonder if I do encounter a virus or other malware, what Vipre will

I have been using Vipre Internet Security with JAWS since it first came
 out
on the market. Back then, when you bought the software, it was good for
 the
life of the computer, and I still have the same one. So, because of this,
 I
get the latest upgrade every year, so I now am running the 2014 version.
 It
works great, and is the most accessible anti virus software that I have
 ever
I recommend this software to anyone who
 asks.

There some jaws cursor work to be done, but most of the other big names are not
even accessible with the jaws cursor. Vippre is very accessible, and you only
need minimo jaws cursor activity.

Hi, I did read somewhere, and can't remember where, that it is possible to
actually drag and drop using jaws. I think this is what Joann is referring
to, not cutting/copying and pasting. When one is on a website where you
are

trying to select something and can't do it because you have to drag
something and drop it into your cart or whatever, can you actually drag
and

drop with jaws? If so, can someone explain how from the beginning? Thanks.
