Honestly, I don't know why I am making a huge deal out of this as I am deaf

Kimsan,
I can not help you with the sound on your headset, but if you hook up your
laptop to your stereo the music and jaws will come out through the speaker.
I hook up the laptop from the ear port and connect it to the auxiliary port
on the mini stereo.
I use a #2 wire adapter on this system.
Yours might be different.
I have never hook it up on the big stereo downstair yet.

(sleved cockring adapter radio shack, it comes in any length and adapter
sizes)
That is what I use to DJ here at home (Low budget on WMP iTunes)

Don't knock until you try it!

Ok, so your head set is a USB connecting type
So, if you follow my way connecting from the ear port to the stereo
auxiliary it should work, I think.

[JAWS-Users] Problem with OCR

2014-09-21 Thread Greg Wocher

Hello all,
I am running JAWS 15 on a windows 8.1 laptop. Recently I installed the
new JAWS16 beta and for some reason the OCR did not install. So I tried
uninstalling and re-installing it a couple of times with no avail. The
OCR component would not install. I uninstalled it and went back to using
JAWS 15 and to my surprise now the OCR component won't work on it
either. When I did the uninstall I made sure to not uninstall shared
components. Everything else works though. How can I get back the OCR in
JAWS 15?

Thanks,
Greg Wocher

[JAWS-Users] a free driver recovery program

2014-09-21 Thread David Ferrin
I just recently found a program called Win driver expert, and since it's
free to distribute I'm going to post it on the server most likely tomorrow.

I haven't done an audio tutorial for quite some time because nothing has
crossed my desk I found interesting enough until now. I believe I will start
work on a recording this week as well if time permits as it will be a short
week.

It pulls out all non-Microsoft drivers which is all you really need and save
them to their own directories. It is not as elegant as say Driver Magician
but it is free so the price is right for anybody who can't afford the more
expensive alternative.

Since the JAWS documentation (including JAWS help) is replete with
different names/abbreviations for each of its features and conceptuals,
that is one small reason it pays to read many of them, as they tend to

Jorge,
What you're describing is known as a keyboard shortcut, or shortcut
key.
In the context of JAWS, JAWS 'Quick Keys' are extra navigation keys
(such as
h for heading, etc., available in Microsoft programs and in accessible
Web

Hello Rick,
I thought that was the way, you set up a quick key command.
Like, when I shut jaws off with insert + F4,
I can bring jaws back with the quick key of, control + alt + J and
then
enter.
Otherwise, you will have to Shut down and restart to bring jaws up
again.
That was the old way I was using to bring jaws up again after I shut
it
down, until I learned to set a quick key command for jaws.
If, you don't set up a quick key command, you'll never bring it back,
unless
you can pull a rabbit out of a hat LOL!
And it works for any program in your start menu.
If, I want, I can go to any program with a quick command, without
using the
desktop command.

That's what I thought was the question asked?

Tom,

quick key command:
Select a desktop icon and press shift + F10 and arrow down to
properties
and press enter.
When, the screen changes:
Tab to the box that is asking for the quick command.
If, it is Jaws, just press control + J and the alt is added
automatically.

Now, tab down to apply, then shift + tab up to OK and press the
spacebar.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] a free driver recovery program

So my question is. Does this program go online, and pull a database of
drivers? And save them? Let me know. Thanks, Doug.

It pulls out all non-Microsoft drivers which is all you really need
and save them to their own directories. It is not as elegant as say
Driver Magician but it is free so the price is right for anybody who
can't afford the more expensive alternative.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with OCR

Hi,
I don't know how to get a new one, but if you run a repair of jaws 15, you
should be able to install it again.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Problem with OCR

Hello all,
I am running JAWS 15 on a windows 8.1 laptop. Recently I installed the new
JAWS16 beta and for some reason the OCR did not install. So I tried
uninstalling and re-installing it a couple of times with no avail. The OCR
component would not install. I uninstalled it and went back to using JAWS 15
and to my surprise now the OCR component won't work on it either. When I did
the uninstall I made sure to not uninstall shared components. Everything
else works though. How can I get back the OCR in JAWS 15?

Thanks,
Greg Wocher
