  Ming,

  You
should test JAWS to see if it is able to  switch first
using the Surf's Up page. You might switch  to
Eloquence first to test this and then read this page:
  http://www.freedomscientific.com/Training/Surfs-Up/Languages.htm

  If the synthesizer language
 is
switching as expected, then JAWS is set
 up right to do it.
  This would indicate that
the markup on the other page you  are reading might not be
correct. Did you try it with JAWS  15? If it works in one,
but not the other, I would say it is  a JAWS issue for
 sure.

  Hope
  this helps,

Re: [JAWS-Users] junk mail

2014-09-24 Thread John Justice
Sugar,
1. Which operating system are you using?
2. Which version of Jaws do you have?
3. Finally, what are you using to read your e-mail?

If you are using Microsoft Outlook, the problem is simple enough. But if
you are using ILM, that might require a bit more manipulation.

4. Are there certain e-mail messages that are going to your Junk folder
that you don't want to go there?

If that's the case, with most decent e-mail programs, you can set things up
so that the sender is not treated as Spam.

The only way I have found to get Jaws to read that information as you would

Re: [JAWS-Users] [Bulk] Is there a way for JAWS to determine the completion status of a iPod syncing project?

2014-09-24 Thread John Justice
Don,
When I'm syncing my IPod 5th Generation, if I tab along, there is a section
in ITunes which indicates the completion of the project by listing the
percentages. "46% completed" The display is similar to the one given which
shows how much of a disk burn has been completed.
That only works with ITunes in the most recent builds however. If your IPod
has IOS 7, you should be able to find that information.
However, if you are using an older IPod like Version 3, the information is
not available in the same way.

With iTunes and an iPhone, the status is shown if you tab and then just sit
on that field when you find it. It only takes from a few to perhaps 20-30
seconds then and then you will hear the familiar iTunes sound indicating
completion.

2014-09-24 Thread Mario Brusco
well, you're going to login to your web mail account and basically identify
those emails that are marked as junk as safe messages. this also applys to
emails from mailling from lists. how? you'd have to see how to do this
according to how your account directs you to do so. if alot "junk" emails
are coming from a mailing list, I'd suggest to tackle this first.

Listened to Eric & Jonathon on FS cast regarding how affordable tablets are
becoming. I liked the sounds of the Dell Venue Eric was describing. My
question to Eric or anyone else on list that has one
is:

1. How much sighted assistance is required in setting it up out
of the box?

2. How do you actually get JAWS on it? With a regular computer
one can insert the CD and you are good to go. I'm sure tablets do not have a
CD. Possibly put a copy of the exe file for JAWS on a flash drive to
install?

3. With Window's 8.1 can narrator give you enough to get JAWS up
and running.

Hopefully some answers here on list or feel free to contact me off list at:

arobb...@blindhandyman.net

best,

Al

Hello, let me try and answer some your questions.
As far as installing The software, it is done like any other machine that does
not have a CD drive. So, what you want to do is you want to download the
software from the website.as far as activating merrier, I cannot help you here,
as I do not have a touchscreen device. However, when I can tell you is that I'm
sure that there are custom jesters to do this.once narrator is running though,
it does support full touchscreen access.in my opinion, much much better than
previous Versions of narrator with Internet explorer.there are, however, custom
gestures implemented to help you navigate explore with touchscreen. Sorry that
I could not be more helpful in the situation. I hope this at least helps the
little.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Tablets

2014-09-24 Thread Eric Damery
I put my answers below Alan.
Eric

1. How much sighted assistance is required in setting it up out
of the box?
** It can be done without help but does require some time. You really should
get a short cable that does Mini USB (that connect to the Venue) to USB Female
so you can move files on from a USB drive to install JAWS that way rather than
having to download in the beginning.

2. How do you actually get JAWS on it? With a regular computer
one can insert the CD and you are good to go. I'm sure tablets do not have a
CD. Possibly put a copy of the exe file for JAWS on a flash drive to install?
** I move files on and off the device with the USB drive connected as I
mentioned above.

3. With Window's 8.1 can narrator give you enough to get JAWS up
and running.
** Yes, this is what I suggest to get you started. Use Narrator to set up a
Blue Tooth Keyboard so you can then have been access to JAWS to get the
installation done and start setting up the Tablet. On the Venue, you can toggle
Narrator on and off, but pressing the Windows Key (small button on the top of
the unit on the right side) and while you press that, you press the up Volume
button, second button down on the right edge. (the top button on the right edge
is the power button, this is just below the mini USB port).

Listened to Eric & Jonathon on FS cast regarding how affordable tablets are

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws language detection

2014-09-24 Thread Eric Damery
Ming,

You should test JAWS to see if it is able to switch first using the Surf's Up
page. You might switch to Eloquence first to test this and then read this page:
http://www.freedomscientific.com/Training/Surfs-Up/Languages.htm

If the synthesizer language is switching as expected, then JAWS is set up right
to do it. This would indicate that the markup on the other page you are reading
might not be correct. Did you try it with JAWS 15? If it works in one, but not
the other, I would say it is a JAWS issue for sure.

Hope this helps,
Eric
