Re: [JAWS-Users] stop jaws completely

2015-07-03 Thread John Justice
Petras,
You will have to do this in two stages. Once everything is set, you won't
have any trouble in future.

1. If your Jaws is on the Desktop, move to it by pressing J but don't open
it
2. Press the Applications key or use SHIFT+F10
3.Press R to open the Properties menu
Note: This menu opens on the Shortcut Page.
4. Tab to the Shortcut edit box and press CONTROL+ALT+J or any other
shortcut key that will be unique to opening Jaws

Now, you are all set to re-open Jaws without difficulty.
1. To close Jaws, press INSERT+F4
Jaws will ask for confirmation that you want to close it
2. Press enter to confirm your choice
Jaws will now stop operating and your sighted friend or helper can use it
without having Jaws speak information and slow down the process.
3. To restart Jaws, press the shortcut key, CONTROL+ALT+J

I hope this helps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] stop jaws completely

2015-07-03 Thread John Justice
Petras,
Mike has the right set of instructions here. The only problem with his plan
is that Jaws will not start at all when you turn on the computer. You won't
know if everything is up and running or not.
There is a way to do this but it's involved with setting up a different User
profile, one which doesn't include Jaws starting automatically.
Arranging User profiles is difficult but not impossible.
If you'd like to attempt that, please let me know and I'll research the
procedure for you.

What will happen though, at least in Windows 7, is that you will be
presented with a page where you have to choose which User to open.

That is a silent display in some cases, depending on how your Jaws was set
up originally.
If, for example, Jaws was set in the Basics menu to Log On At Startup,
then you would hear the User page.

Petra, wouldn't it be better just to show your friend how to turn off Jaws?
That's a simpler and more direct process.

Hello-I am currently using JAWS 14 and planning to move forward when thid
computer dies (probably soon). I have several previous versions that I had
used, including JAWS 11, 12 and 13. I want to use an old version of Sound
Forge 8 and I want to use an earlier version of JAWS. Can I bring back any
of these older versions or did 14 stop them from working?

[JAWS-Users] registry errors

2015-07-03 Thread Kevin Lee
I have various errors on one of my windows 7 computers. I’m running jaws 15 on
it and it’s funny because when I view the programs list in revo uninstaller
jaws 15 is not there. I can not update jaws
the computer seems to run fine, windows updates seems to works.
in the windows control panels programs list I have jaws 11 and jaws 15.
I do not want to run any 3rd party repair programs and sfc/scan now doesn’t
work at all.
I did get a get windows 10 notification in the system tray and I could access
the internet to reserve it. my question is if I run the upgrade on the
computer will that fix all errors?
Email is golden!!!

Re: [JAWS-Users] registry errors

2015-07-03 Thread Michael Boyd
It may repair it or not. It depends on the specific registry key. It would be
best, if you think you could, to manually remove the corrupted or erroneous
keys. But, if you don't feel comfortable doing this, then try the restore.

Just correcting the spelling error, it was getting on my nerves.

I’d believe so! I don’t know why you wouldn’t be able to use WindowsLive

I passed on the previous build after reading about the extraneous
characters in WLM but installed the present build and have no issues
with WLM.

Downloaded the new version from the FTP site and installed it. See no
improvement in Windows Live Mail at all. It stills babbles on saying
everything on the WLM screen. Tom

Hi all, I am using outlook 2010 on a W8.1 computer with jaws 16. Very
often, when I open an email, I am either at the end of the newest email in
any thread, or at the end of any email thread or not. I have to arrow up to
find the beginning of the email. Is there a way to fix this? Jim
