[JAWS-Users] JAWS and Statistical Package for Social Science (spss)
Hi, I'm doing some science research at the Faculty of Economics. Has someone any expirience using IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (spss)? Is it accesible and how it works with JAWS? If so, how to find some JAWS Help topics? Thanks in advance! Best Zumreta For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [JAWS-Users] Opening a thumb drive in Wind7
Hi Mike, Thanks for the advice, I kinda knew it. I had a couple thumb drives from the NFB that I wanted to delete and use them for something else. You hit it on the head, it was a cheap thumb drives Jorge -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Michael Boyd Sent: Thursday, July 02, 2015 9:51 AM To: Jaws-Users Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Opening a thumb drive in Wind7 The Device with Removable Storage Expanded, is not the drive itself, only the heading of the area that contains removeable drives. You should find your drive listed below this, and if you do not, then the computer is not recognizing your drive. Try unplugging it and then putting it into another USB port. If you cannot get the computer to recognize it at all, then you will need to try another computer. If this does not work, then your drive is probably bad. I have had generic drives and ones like Kingston to suddenly stop being recognized by any computer that I would plug them into. Unfortunately in this case, you have probably lost whatever you have on the drive. Hopefully not the only copy of the files. Note that some drives these days are said to be Windows 8.1 compatible, and if this drive is one of these, it will most likely appear under your Local Drives heading with the hard drives. So, I been pressing the content menu and entering on O for Open. Then, I get a insert disc dialog and I cancel out. It's been like a 50 50 chance to open the thumb drive. Can someone help me with a better way to open it. I looked in the properties and didn't see anything really, besides being a bit unsure? [JAWS-Users] new iTunes
Question for whoever has jaws 16 and new iTunes. Can your jaws tell you about your list when you go to a author and tab to see the different books under the author? For me, jaws 15 does not do so. I get edit and nothing when I go up, down, left or right with the arrow. Holger Fiallo For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

[JAWS-Users] windows security center cannot be started
I think I got hit with a virus, it first started by zapping my jaws 16jaws could not start the icon was on the desktop.. I had to reinstall jaws 15 and then I ran a vipre virus scan. all seemed well except my windows security center won’t turn on. vipre doesn’t even show in the action center. defender doesn’t show either. I went to my windows update and executed it and jaws announced updates cannot be run. do I need to reinstall, I have a healthy system image on a removable harddrive. but isn’t the restore process unaccessible to jaws users.? Kevin, Restore is mostly accessible. I think that to view the entire list of available restores it requires the use of JAWS cursor, but been a while since I did it. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows security center cannot be started
restore is accessible but I already tried that to restore to yesterday, but the restore failed. I was talking about a system image. windows doesn't recognize the system image as a restore point I think you must restore an image in safe mode the techs do not recommend modifying the regerstry for safe mode to use sound so I'm guessing it’s a no go for jaws users. -Original Message- From: Alan Robbins Sent: Thursday, July 09, 2015 4:23 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] windows security center cannot be started Kevin, Restore is mostly accessible. [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Windows 8
Hello Gang: I have been encouraged to stay away from Windows 8, mainly, because I am told it has no start menu. And, that access to software is difficult. Does it have the standard desktop? In other words, how do you get to your software? I usually access my software with windows 7 by going to the desktop with: Windows key plus the letter m. How do you do it with windows 8? Are there really problems with it compared to windows 7? The only things I use a great deal are MS Word, MS Outlook for e-mail, and Internet Explorer.
