Re: [JAWS-Users] Wondering if I am still on or nothing is happening.
David, Thank you for clarifying this. As the leader of the group, I understand that they are your rules and they need to be followed. I just wish that people would do what they are to do and not make the rest of us suffer because they cannot understand and follow them. The guidelines are what they are and if they don't like them, well too bad. Have a great day everyone and can't wait for more valuable information to come through here. Also, Vipre Rescue Scanner is a free tool offered by the folks at Vipre that does a deep scan of the computer. It's a free utility, and also comes up as the first result of a google search. Microsoft accessibility support also uses this tool as of late. Beware that the scan usually takes 3 plus hours to complete, depending on how much data is on the hard drive. It detects quarantines and deletes automatically. You can select to run automatically from the download, or save to and run from your pc. dp -Original Message- From: Londa Peterson Sent: Friday, November 13, 2015 11:10 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Removing System Healer with Malwarebytes or SpyHunter Try Hitman Pro instead. [JAWS-Users] Removing System Healer with Malwarebytes or Spy Hunter
Hello list, So I dont know how, but it seems I have some malware on one of my desktop machines called System Healer. Browser hijacker, redirector, false positives with prompts to buy protection tools, etc. In any event, Looking around on how to remove it, I come across the solution of using Spy Hunter. Im a Malwarebytes user and on this particular machine, I simply hadnt gotten around to installing Malwarebytes (oh well). I downloaded and ran a demo version of Malwarebytes (V 1.75) but the machine comes up clean even though I still see System healer on my computer. My question is this, is there a way to specifically target a process or folder or file to scan and quarantine with Malwarebytes? Searching around, I can select a drive or type of scan (full, quick or flash), but cant find anything to target a particular folder/file/process. That aside, has anyone used Spy Hunter and have they found it to be accessible with Jaws? In my case, JFW 17. Naturally, the scan and detect aspects are free, but removal is only with a license. Im not against paying for a malware tool. Ive got a paid version of Malwarebytes on my personal laptop, but before I go and shell out $30 or $40, Id like to know whether I would even be able to use it at all without calling over the sighted wife to the rescue. Alternatively, has anyone dealt with this program and were they able to remove it from their system with any particular tool that is reasonably Jaws accessible? There are manual instructions on how to remove System healer, but they involve delving into the registry, other system files and so on. Id prefer not to go that route if possible. Re: [JAWS-Users] Wondering if I am still on or nothing is happening.
David, If you again find that you need to turn the list off to make a point, or for any other reason, may I suggest that you post a warning before you do it. I had just made a change in my membership so, when I did not get any emails from the list I thought that it was something that I had done wrong. I worked trying to get the list back for quite a while. If I had known that you felt you needed to close down the list I would have felt better waiting for you to turn it on again. I, personally, think that you do a good job running this list. I can only wonder how much time it takes you each day. But this list is a helpful, -no nonsense place where I can come and learn about Jaws. I want to thank you for all of the work you put in to make this a good place to come to to learn about Jaws. I think that the vast majority of people on the list feel just as I do. It is a shame that one or two rotten apples can ruined the pie. As for me, I say, Thank you. [JAWS-Users] JAWS 17 problem
Hi List, I am new to this list, but I have been using JAWS for Windows since version 3.5. Since I upgraded to JAWS 17, I am having a problem that I had when I first installed JAWS 16 last year; that problem got fixed in the first revision of JAWS 16. The problem is that JAWS 17keeps crashing without warning when I am using Outlook 2013, Internet Explorer 11 and Word 2013. Sometimes it comes right back; other times I have to press Windows m to get JAWS back; still other times, I have to unload JAWS with Insert F4 and then use my hot key, Control alt j, to bring JAWS back. I finally gave up last night and went back to JAWS 16 until this gets fixed. Any help or insight will be appreciated. Re: [JAWS-Users] An audio tutorial on Google Chrome
Hi all, I forgot to mention that you do not even need to have dropbox to download the tutorial from the link I gave you. You don't have to know how to use it or anything like that. All you guys need to do is enter on the link in the email, and a page will come up. Go to almost to the bottom of the page and there will be a download link, and press enter on that. Now, you can save it where you want on your computer. That is it. If you guys want to learn how to use Drop Box, I could teach you that in my next tutorial. Take care, and I hope you can download it and all will learn a lot about Chrome. I am now using it as my default browser. It is an hour audio tutorial and I go over all the basics of Chrome from browsing, to saving and getting to book marks, saving pages in different formats, downloading and saving files, and much more. Londa, Ok, found where they are and I "think" this is the same as Windows 7 but did not see them there this morning. Go to in a user account: Documents/app data/local/Microsoft/outlook Once there, you will see a .pst folder for each IMAP account Hope this helps.
