Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator, How To Turn It Off!

2016-06-08 Thread Kimsan
The CTRL alt delete isn't that the old taskmanager command. Let me see what
it does here.
Haha, took me to the lock screen, thank goodness I remembered my password.
If you are talking about the task manager, then it's CTRL shift escape and
locate the processes tab and after locating calculator, tab to end task.
However, if you are not, then just pay me no mind and I'll go back under my
rock. lol

Mike, a few suggestions:

When I've encountered a failure of alt-F4 to close a program, sometimes
alt-tabbing out of that window and bringing up the windows list with JAWS
key+F10 gets me back to that window. I press enter, and then suddenly alt-F4
works again. If not, an alt-spacebar plus x (window maximization) and then
JAWS key+escape (refresh) between the Windows list and the windows close
command might work. Unfortunately, not always.

Another thought: You can bring up the list of running apps with
control-alt-delete. Arrow down (in this case) to calculator, then tab over
to "close" or the equivalent. (I tried testing this while writing this post,
and almost lost the message as a result, so I can't conveniently confirm the
exact wording.)

Looking over your steps, I wonder why you close the main IE window before
the download has completed. Sometimes doing so can interrupt the download,
which happens, for example, on the BARD website. Besides, if you plan to
continue using IE, you could resume from that window. Kimsan's control-t

Re: [JAWS-Users] VLC media player?

2016-06-08 Thread David Moore

Hi Vicky,
I will tell you how to get started with VLC Media Player. I have used it for
some time, and love it. First of all, after it is installed, you should make
VLC your default player. If you are using win10, press Windows +I and press
enter on system and go down to default programs and press enter. tab to your
audio player and press the space bar and press the space bar on VLC after
you have tabbed to it. Do the same with your default video player. VLC will
play any audio or Video file you can imagine. Now, just press enter on a
media file in your collection, and it will open in VLC. Here are some key
commands to get started. Holding down the shift and tapping the right or
left arrows, will fast forward or rewind a small bit. If you hold down the
CTRL and tap the right or left arrow keys, it will fast forward or rewind by
a bigger margin. Holding down the CTRL and pressing the up or down arrow
keys will increase or decrease the volume. If you use JAWS, you will have to
press Insert+3 on the numbers row first to pass this key through to VLC.
Next, I strongly encourage you to go through the first three menu options
and keep track of all key commands you hear. You will be able to control the
player a lot through the first three menus. To get to the menus, just press
the alt key. you will love it, and it can even play DVDs and Blu ray DVDS.
Take care and let me know if you have more questions.

Hi David,

Thank you very much. I was asking for someone else, & assumed they had
tried Alt + F4. I started the calculator & Alt + F4 does the trick. This
person had to reboot the computer to get rid of it for whatever reason.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Repairing JAWS

2016-06-08 Thread Jim Flusche
Yes, already having a copy of Jaws 17, executable file on the C drive.
Type Windows key+R, for the run dialog.
Paiste the following string into the run dialog, for the latest Jaws 17,
followed by the enter key:

C:\J17.0.2211ENU-x64.EXE /type repair

Now if your version of Jaws is different than above, just change the numbers
to the correct version, do not change any thing in the jaws repair command
line.
After pressing enter in the Run dialog edit box, if done correctly, your
users account should pop up. Tab to yes, press the space bar. Now the Jaws
window will come up. Follow the prompts to repair your version of Jaws. Yes
having your punctuation set to at least, "Some", will help to understand
this line.LOL.

Pretty sure it's

JAWSxx /type repair

Where xx is your current version of JAWS.

If that doesn't work, try gluing the words "type" and "repair" together.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Tooltips

2016-06-08 Thread Mario

in windows 7,
launch the control panel,
type s or arrow to and enter on the sounds applet,
control+tab to sounds tab,
tab to the treeview where the first item should be "windows opened",
type s 3 times or arrow down to system notification,
press alt+b to browse for the location and sound you want.
the rest is fairly common to follow. I think wav files are the only
format that's accepted for a system sound.

I don't know how to assign system sounds in windows 10. hoping someone
who is using windows 10 will post on how to setup/change system sounds.

Combo box, and arrow to the desired length. it is not recommended to
exceed 30 seconds because of security concerns. I suggest 15 seconds
which should give you enough time to left click the notification as soon
as JAWS announces it, if it is set to show it's icon in the notification
area (system tray). some notifications are only set to only briefly show
notifications which do not allow interaction, for which JAWS will
announce, unless JAWS is already reading something, like a document or
article. this is why I have associated a sound when notification
balloons arise.

Thanks.

How to check all gmail messages should one want to do that, especially
if one wants to delete or archive them? I am using gmail html basic
with both JAWS 14 and 16 versions.

Your help is appreciated in advance.

Betty

You don't have to be crazy to run a list like this, but it does help.

If they feel the need to ask how to do that then I imagine they would do so.

Since nobody up until now has asked, well you get the message.

It would be kind of nice if you would tell people how to fix the issue
of posting below, You know some people may not know how to fix this problem
in their email clients.

Hi friends,

Is there a shortcut key in JAWS to read the last tooltip or system tray
popup notification or balloon if you have missed it?

2016-06-08 Thread Betty R. Moruthanyana
Hi gentle people
I find this as if you are saying to me that I posted my message to wrong list.

I still think that I posted it to the right list and need to be helped.

I may not be the only person who cannot fix the problem.

I use jaws to find the check box but I can't.

Please don't shoot at me, instead help me. It will be nice of you to
direct me to the right list if this is not, rather than shoot at me.

With respect
Betty
