[JAWS-Users] How to priortize search results in win 7

2016-07-28 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi All,

Is it possible to prioritize which programs come to the top of search
results in windows 7? For example, when I begin typing downloads in
the search box, I would like the downloads folder to be the first
suggestion in the list rather than the third or fourth. Is this
possible?

Thanks,
Kimber

[JAWS-Users] New message sound

2016-07-28 Thread Mark Brett
Hi, When I get a message from a person or group that I have not set a rule
for it to go into a folder so it stays in the inbox I get a new message
sound.

If I get a new message from a person or group that has a rule to put it into
a folder I don't get a new message sound.

How can I set outlook 2016 to play a sound regardless of what folder
receives the new message?

Many thanks

Hi, if you use the download folder that often, perhaps you can put a
shortcut to it on the desktop?

[JAWS-Users] Saving a file from a Dropbox link

2016-07-28 Thread The Iowa Gal
Hey people,

I'm using I.E. 11 and outlook 2010 with Jaws 16.0.4468. When I enter on a
link to download a Dropbox file, I cannot locate the "save" button. I land
on the file as it is listed at the top of the downloads list but tabbing
around does not land me on the usual "open" or "save" buttons. Dropbox is
the only place I have this issue. Downloading from other sites, such as
BARD, Bookshare, etc. clearly show the buttons. I tried using my Jaws
cursor, I right click on save and it asks if I want to remove the file from
the download list.
Obviously this is a real pain in the rump, as I need these files and
downloading them is hit or miss at best. If anyone can shed some light on
this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Norma

Re: [JAWS-Users] New message sound

2016-07-28 Thread Mario
a suggestion: I don't use Outlook 2016 but from a note I made for
Outlook 2013, it appears that a sound needs to be assigned to the filter.
when creating/editing a filter (rule), there should be a setting that
can specify a sound to be plaied when the filter is automatically or
manually used. I don't know if there's a setting that plays a sound for
all incoming emails regardless if it is filtered or not.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws and decTalk access32

2016-07-28 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

Dectalk Access32 was originally sold and serviced by Hinter Joice, which is
now Freedom scientific. But I doubt that it is still available from them.
There was also a version sold by GW Micro, the makers of WindowEyes. But
JAWS quit allowing that version to be used somewhere around Jaws 11 or Jaws
12.
Dectalk Access32 from Freedom Scientific works fine in Windows XP. But as
far as I know, it will not work on any subsequent version of Windows,
(Vista, 7 8 or 10). So I'm a little surprised that it is still available in
JAWS 16 and 17, which cannot be used with Windows XP.

There are a couple of things that claim to be Dectalk, but to me the voices
are not Dectalk. The first one is an external synthesizer named Dectalk
USB and the second is a software synthesizer called Dectalk Sapi5. I don't
have any detailed information about either one of these options.

I see that in the synthesizer and braille manager you can choose decTalk
access32 software. do you have to buy decTalk access32, and if so from
where, and how much does it cost?

DecTalk sapi5 is free but doesn't sound much like original decTalk,
don't know what they did to it. and decTalk access32 works fine in
windows 10.

[JAWS-Users] Saving A File From A Dropbox Link

2016-07-28 Thread Mike B.
Hi,

After pressing enter on the download link, have you tried pressing the right
arrow key to the save option? Also, sometimes a download link takes you to
the Dropbox website, & when this happens you need to arrow down the page to
get to the download button.
Take care.

And, for the record, Dectalk USB is, or was, astoundingly expensive, but
nothing like the old Dectalk from the defunct Digital Equipment Corp.
