2017-08-25 Thread JM Casey
Well, yes, and I'm not fighting or even being snappy. I know there are a lot
of messages and ... tha'ts part of the problem. I see this kind of thing on
message boards all the time, too, where people try to start new threads to
discuss something that's already being discussed (on the first page even)
because they don't read the stuff that's already there. Anyway, hopefully we
are all done with this now for the rest of the year. Haha

I'm not slagging any person in this thread and certainly not Rose, who has
been really forthcoming and helpful to those in doubt/with questions, but
this thread is getting so incredibly long and repetitive because some people
just don't seem to read all the messages in it. I don't know how often this
question about the ribbons has been asked in the last five days or so, and
how many people have writtten in, sometimes multiple times, explaining how
to turn them on, off; how to know if they are already on or off, explaing to
everyone else that you can use them or nont use them as you like and it's no
damn difference to them, and so on, and so on. I think a moderator already
asked this: Can we please put this topic to rest now?

If you use the setup wizard you will have a choice to turn it on or leave it
off. Also under quick setting, insert V, it will let you know its status,
pressing spacebar on that setting will toggle it.

Hi Dave, you are wrong, I never said a blind person must use the Jaws
virtual ribbons. They can use them or not use them, this is a personal
choice. However, in my opinion, I think they would benefit, from using the
Jaws virtual ribbons. You are the only person being dogmatic about not using
the Jaws virtual ribbons. Let all members try using or not using the Jaws
virtual ribbons for themselves. Quit putting words in my mouth. I said, in
my humble opinion, I think new Jaws users would benefit from using the Jaws
virtual ribbons and its simple layout, in all the office 365 products. So,
seems to be your way or the highway. Why don't you give the virtual ribbons
a try yourself? Smiles.

Rose,

Agree completely. It's fine for folks to tell of their experience with a
particular feature, but to insist that a particular method is best for a
blind person seems to be dogmatic.

I am totally annoyed with a new version of Jaws when it is set at defaults

I switch the keyboard echo off. However, I hate hearing the space, and I
turn off echo because it does not keep up with my typing speed but I'd never
tell any of you to work the same way I work.

Same goes for the ribbons issues, try working both ways if interested and
decide which works for you, not your mate, not your coworker but for you.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and Outlook: Jaws doesn't say unread

2017-08-25 Thread Fernando Gregoire
Hi Morne,

The problem, as you were told, is that the Outlook reading pane which
displays the message at the side of the message list is turned on by
default.
You can change the option Tom said, or more convenient in my opinion, turn
off the reading pane completely. This seems me more convenient because the
navigation becomes faster when Outlook stop processing each e-mail in which
you navigate to in the background.
To disable the reading pane go to the View tab and, in the Layout group,
press SPACEBAR in the Reading Pane option. In the drop-down menu which is
opened, choose Off.
I can't tell you the exact access keys for quickly accessing this item
because thei're different in English compared to Spanish Outlook which I
use, but the Helpful Hints section on the JAWS help topic for Outlook these
keys are indicated, despite that I'm sure of the names I mentioned if you
want to run through the ribbon.

Hope it helps!
