OK! I tried the Costco hearing site using Jaws 2018,Win 10 and IE 11. No problem at all. My problem then would seem to be with Windows 7 or a Jaws 2018 problem With Windows 7. Re: [JAWS-Users] Id a blank character
Hi Ann Marie, A nonbreaking space is used to keep text together. When used between two words instead of a regular space the two words can be forced to be at the beginning or end of the same line. Nonbreaking spaces can also be used to produce different alignment of text on the same line. The code you would enter on the number pad while holding down Alt key is 0160. You can enter a nonbreaking space by holding down CTRL with shift keys and pressing spacebar. The nonbreaking spaces should not be removed when replacing paragraph marks with tabs. You don't want to replace nonbreaking spaces with tabs because when converting to a table using tabs as column dividers you will end up with unwanted columns and text that is meant to be together in the same column being separated into different columns. I went to the web site you sent me and I think I found a way to get the information pasted with vertical bars dividing the columns. When pasted in Word I think the text can then be converted into a table and the vertical bars used as column dividers or they can be changed to tabs that can be used as column dividers. The site is quite difficult to navigate and copying information isn't really a straightforward process. Perhaps you can send the link to this list and see if someone else can offer a way to handle it. I will Email you privately as well but I won't be able to spend time on this until later tomorrow. Take care. The code given is 13. However, you actually need to use 013. The 13 is the code initially used as a carriage return. If you turn the number lock on, hold down Alt and type 13 on the number pad followed by a space, you will likely get an 8th note. (♪). Instead you turn on the number lock, hold down Alt while typing 013 and you get the paragraph mark. If using 013 in a Find and Replace dialog box in Word you would need to put a caret (shift on 6) before the numbers. However, using caret followed by a lower case p does the same thing. Take care. Hi Brian, I cannot seem to get the procedure you have after word instead. There is a non breaking space code 160. When I replace ^013 to ^t the non breaking 160 also changes to a tab. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] maximizing a window in IE?
To add to what Adrian & John have posted: I was reading a tutorial by David Bales at; http://goo.gl/uu3XW In this tutorial he talks about using the, Windows Key + Up Arrow keystroke for maximizing windows. Apparently in Windows7 you can invoke this keystroke on any window you want to maximize & Windows7 will maximize the window & remember the setting so you don't have to maximize it again. This maximize keystroke only maximizes the window during the current session of the computer use. You can also use the keystroke, Windows Key + down arrow, to restore the window. It won't remember the maximized window after a reboot or restart. Hope this helps. Take care. Mike Take care. Mike. Dodgers, try again next year! Sent from my iBarstool. I wanted to let you know that my Outlook 2016 address entry issue which was causing Outlook to crash has been resolved, at least for now. I worked with Corrie from FS Support, and they are aware of the issue. The temporary work-around is to run Outlook in safe mode. Here are the steps for doing this: 1. If you are in Outlook, close the program. 2. Then, press windows R to go to the run dialog prompt. 3. Type in outlook.exe followed by a space, and then /safe and hit enter. 4. Then, exit out of Outlook and go back again, and everything should function normally. I'm not totally sure what safe mode is, but Corrie said it has something to do with eliminating add-ins that are active when Outlook is running normally. I also asked Corrie about the problem I'm having with being unable to navigate entries in an Outlook e-mail group via the arrow keys, and he said that FS is aware of that issue as well. He indicated that we should all stand by for future Jaws updates that will be aimed at correcting these issues. Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 2018 with Windows 10 mail app?
Respected Marry, the matter of fact is that using windows 10 mail app is very easy and handy. It will not give you tough time as outlook 2016. Another very important thing is that David wrote a very good tutorial using windows 10 mail app. You can use this app no matter what brouser you are using as your default brouser. This program will work with the composition of people and calendar apps. In my opinion, you will not find any issue if you use it with JAWS 2018. I'm interested in the use of the Windows 10 mail client with JAWS. Because of issues with the Edge browser, and the fact that this mail app is apparently based on that engine, I am thinking that it might not be all that great with JAWS until the underlying Edge issues are fully solved.
