[JAWS-Users] Using Edcast in IE 11 with JAWS
Hi all, I need to start to use Edcast with JAWS 2018 in IE 11 on Win 7 64 bit and have had no luck at reading most of the content. Learn more about Edcast at: https://www.edcast.com/ I do have access to other browsers, versions of JAWS and Win 10. If anyone has used Edcast and has some tips for me I would appreciate your help Thank you. Bill For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

I noted the same thing when killing explorer.exe let us know if you figure it out. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of JM Casey Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2018 1:59 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Task Manager in Windows 10 is really slow when JAWS is running Hey Dennis. No instalation required really. You can just download it from the sysinternals page, or grab the big zip archive of sysinternals utilities (which includes autoruns for checking startup items and a lot of other useful things that are kind of above my level of expertise). Remember to choose the 64 bit version if you are running 64 bit oS, or some processes will not show up. AS for making it the new task manager, it's done within the programme. Just pick the "replace task manager" item from the options menu. You might still have to make sure the programme runs as administrator. I'm experimenting with this now because I noticed it won't let you kill certain processes, like explorer.exe, whereas the regular task manager does (useful if windows stops working properly because explorer always automatically restarts after being killed). Anyway, I think there might be a way to fix that. If you have problems, go to the path of the programme executable and under the "compatibility" tab of the properties dialog, check the "run this programme as administrator" box. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Dennis Long Sent: January 18, 2018 1:14 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Task Manager in Windows 10 is really slow when JAWS is running How do you install process explorer and get control shift escape to work to bring it up? -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of JM Casey Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2018 7:06 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Task Manager in Windows 10 is really slow when JAWS is running Hm. It also should reassure anyone who might feel weird about replacing a core windows component with something else. Your ctrl-shift-escape key short-cut will still work, too. If these are PDF files, they will open in Edge, because Edge renders PDF’s pretty well. If you want to use Adobe reader to read the PDF’s in, just press Shift+F10 or the applications key, and arrow to open with, and enter on Adobe reader. Re: [JAWS-Users] Task Manager in Windows 10 is really slow when JAWS is running
I guess the term nowadays is "portable". The whole idea is that you can just put it on a flash drive or on any computer and just run it and have it work. I believe I downloaded the entire pack of sysinternals utilities, and put them in a folder in my "program files" directory called "sysinternals", and just run from there. As well as the two pages I linked earlier in the thread, there is a .chm help file accessible from inside process explorer with f1. Below is a Dropbox download link for the installer I used, it's 64 bit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6pi53byrzdi3fm3/vlc-2.2.8-win64.zip?dl=1 Let me know how it works. Take care. Mike. Mike, FYI, my system won't allow me to update beyond VLC 2.6, presumably because I still have Windows 7. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of el...@comcast.net Sent: Monday, January 15, 2018 7:16 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] VLC Player, how to invoke shortcuts Mike and Adrian Mike got it for me, maximize that file. Also, have you updated VLC lately? I wouldn't think updating would be it, but the latest version is, vlc-2.2.8. Is the file you're playing maximized? Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. I used to be able to pause recordings on the VLC Player by pressing the spacebar. Now I can pause only by going into the menus. Same with other functions. Any idea why the shortcuts aren't working for me and how I can bring them back?
