Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 2018 won't keep focus with IE in some webpages
Thanks, Patti, you've given me a very constructive workaround, and I'll use it. Still, it's an extra step and a distraction. Let's say I'm copying seven items of information from different parts of a webpage. With previous versions of JAWS, I could rely on focus staying where I'd left it on transferring each item to a Word file. This is already a tedious process that requires concentration. Your idea will help, but it's still an extra precaution I shouldn't need to take based on earlier versions of JAWS. Note for anyone following this thread. You can set a temporary placemarker in a browser with control-shift-k. As I recall, it is replaced each time you set a new one or close the window. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of patti Sent: Sunday, April 15, 2018 9:37 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 2018 won't keep focus with IE in some webpages How about using place markers, so when you go back to that page, all you have to do is press the letter K. Re: [JAWS-Users] Reorder message column in thunderbird using Jaws
Hi Cuong, I don't run Thunderbird, but I saved this note just in case. From: adam morris Column presentation Go to the message list. go to the very top of it with the home key. enable touch cursor, now go left until you hear select columns to display... button. Press enter. This opens the menu allowing you to check and uncheck columns. If you want to rearrange the columns, go left past that button and you'll find the header items like subject and the like. Find the one you want to move, press the keystroke to lock mouse button, with laptop layout that would be shift caps lock num row 8. then left or right to the colum you'd like to place this before and press the mouse lock toggle again. Note that the columns are read in the same order regardless of their actual position when using touch cursor. You'll have to try to move it, then go back to pc cursor and navigate the list of messages to see if you did it. If it fails, try dragging other columns around the one want to move instead and see if that works. It's a bit messy but can be done with a little time and a big dose of patients. [JAWS-Users] Remote JAWS
Hello all, I am using JAWS 17 on one of my laptops. Lately it sometimes opens with the announcement, "Remote Jaws" I close it and it returns to JAWS for home use. The other day I had a blank screen that said nothing when I pressed insert-T so I closed it with alt F4 at which point I heard the announcement, terminating tandem connection. [JAWS-Users] little memo for everybody
I just wanted to remind everybody that when contacting the list moderators the most efficient manner is to use: jaws-users-list-ow...@jaws-users.com The above address will reach all of us where as if you write to me or one of the other guys who say for example happens to be on vacation and I know that sounds far out there as nobody would want to take a break from their respective computers, but let’s just say if it did happen that way. Your request might not receive an answer in a timely manner. Other than that little glitch things have been running quite smoothly around here for an extended period of time. Which goes to the lists’ longevity, 12 and a half years already. Now if you have a reason to contact one of us privately or don’t mind the possibility of waiting for a reply then go for it. OK I have rambled on long enough and remember go Penguins. David Ferrin Life is what happens after you have already made other plans. Hi Judy/all, Because I sent something similar to our group, I do not know if your reference concerned my posting (a male in that case), but I never received a reply and I have still problems with Amazon, being unable to access my account from my new Lenovo computer, because they need verification, and the purported code sent to my email address just never reaches me so that I can continue. I also wrote to their helpdesk and received no reply so far. So, I am really puzzled as it only happens with Amazon.
