any

On June 9, my computer was completely destroyed vy a viscious worm which
entered it when I attempted to watch a video of Glenn Greenwald
interviewing
Edward Snowden. Everything was so damaged that Carlos H, who is the
sighted

person who cares for my computer, had to completely wipe clean the hard
drive and re-install everything, including Windows 7. I am now attempting,
with great difficulty, to get things to work so I can do the really
minimal
things that an old lady like me, does with the computer. I have Windows
7,
Jaws 13, and I E 9. I now have Office 2007 which means a whole other
bunch

of questions but first:

I have a few initial questions that someone may be able to comment on. I
must add, that I use Magic, at an extremely high magnification, 21, to
supplement Jaws.

Many of my emails and the Library at Audible.com, look different than they
did, and some are difficult or impossible to access. One example is, I get
news updates from the New York Times. The format usually is a headline, a
short summary, and then a link. It is now saying it is in a table and I
can't read it, not even if I go into table mode. This has occurred with
several emails which usually consist of headlines, followed by summaries
and

then links.

In one of these emails, Reader Supported news, Jaws keeps repeating the
same

thing over and over again and won't read line by line of the content with
insert 2. It will read if I move word by word with control arrow.

Another problem, I tried to download the Humanware Companion Software
which

I had before. I found the link, pressed enter on it, and nothing happened.

Is there something that I should ask Carlos to fix that relates to how
things are displayed? Can anyone suggest why the companion software might
not be downloading?

Re: [JAWS-Users] mouse over how to

2012-12-06 Thread Angel
I had a similar problem. There is a web site on which I wanted to create
an account. I was told to hover my mouse over a spot which Jaws announced
was a mouse over section. I forgot the key stroke to accomplish this using
Jaws 10. So, I called Jaws technical support to provide for me the answer.
When I activated the mouse over section, I was unable to cause it to be
sufficiently active to create the account. I was told by Jaws no change.
Or something to that effect. I had to have my daughter create for me the
account.

How does one make Jaws hover over a link to open it, my employee
self-serve

page has one and I can't access it, it is called myself and so far, I have
to get someone to come mouse it for me, not particularly what I'd like to
do

since some personal information is supposed to be stored there. Is this a
mouse-over even if it isn't announced as such?

Also using Jaws 9 at work.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Internet Explorer Landmarks

2009-06-05 Thread angel
I have been having these same difficulties. Those landmarks have screwed up
more than one search for me. Jaws won't read past the sponsored links no
matter what I do. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. Or some
box I need to have checked or unchecked in the Jaws configuration manager.
I will be looking forward to reading the answer.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Internet Explorer Landmarks

Hi Folks,

Anyone have any idea what a land mark is on a web page?

I'm assuming it has something to do with it's navigation or some such, but
a

site I've been accessing on a daily basis for the last year or so seems to
have screwed up to the point that I can't access it the way I used to.

For example, one of the data tables that house the message lists are not
displaying properly, and I can't click on some of the links, particularly
in

my mail options page, which is important to me and how I view my mail.

Some of you may be familiar with this change as I have noticed it on
Yahoo's

mail servers page.

Those with an A T T/SBC Global account may notice this type of change.

Can anyone tell me if this is related to Internet Explorer 8 or not, or
whether this is yahoo's fault, as I have noticed that they tend to make
changes to their website without our consultation.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks.

There are a few blind folks in this area but we are the only blind couple

upgraded there web site, so they think and it is no longer blind friendly.
I an't even get to our local store or the store ads. The store is in
Cleveland, Texas and the zip is 77327. Would you all take a look and see
if there is any way I can use the site? Here is the link to the site.

 Hi mark
I think what he was maybe referring to is the registration process for a
yahoo id to be able to have that for messenger.
I think they now started using the darn captchas for that. I have hab mine
for a long time, so was able to do this without the captcha hurdle.

Wesley, what you are, and have been, apparently referring to is Yahoo
 chat.
This is different from Yahoo Messenger. First, Yahoo Messenger does not
have any captchas at all, and secondly, apparently no one on this list
 uses
 Yahoo Chat.
