Dear Barbara,
I know this sounds ridiculous, but since you are planning to purchase a
new keyboard anyway, you have nothing to lose!

What worked for me more than once, is:

I went crazy on the key, that did not work!
Like I mean a Woody Wood Pecker, on steroids!

Hit it about 20 times hard, with your finger of course, what do you have
to lose!

Seriously, I did this a couple of times on keys that nothing else worked
to get them working, and

Eureka!

Worked!

Good Luck!

With Best Regards,
Alan

Hi,
Here is an easy test for that questionable escape key.
You can use JawsKeyboardHelp by pressing the keystroke Jawskey plus
numrow1

and then press the escape key to find out its function.
Jaws will tell you what that key, and most other keystrokes is supposed
to

do. and if you hear nothing the keyboard is probably damaged.
You toggle this mode off by pressing JawsKey plus Numrow1 again.
This will work even with your key echo set to none.

Jon

Hi Dale!

I have this freezing on my PC, but not my laptop. And in rare cases I
have a blue screen after the freezing. And it is allways the sound card
driver, that causes the bluescreen. My laptop has a ADI soundmax chip
and the PC a creative Soundblaster X-FI. I am not absolutely sure, but
it seams that, at least for me, it is the sound blaster that causes Jaws
to freeze.

frequently the only solution seems to press the power button and
re-boot.

I still have not installed Jaws 10.

So far I have not identified a cause, I suspect sometimes it comes
from arrowing about too quickly although why it happens I am not
sure.

Hi all
Just wondering has anyone found this problem, I could be doing
anything, today I've just been navigating the internet trying to
search in combo boxes, using messenger, and also just generally
navigating web pages, and I find, that sometimes, for absolutely no
reason I can figure out, jaws will just stop talking and can take
some time to start talking again, in order for this to happen I
normally press insert t but sometimes I will just wait, anyone else
finding this problem?
And if so, what did you do to fix it?
I'm running vista home premium.
Thanks in advance,
Kerie Doyle

Personally, if someone gave me a DVD with that program on it, i'd put it
into a food processor and grind it until it was powder. I tried it, hated
 it
with a passion, then tried norton, and hated that too. once I switched to
AVG, this machine worked like it'd been reborn or something. those
 programs
are resource hogs to say the least.

Insert control s brings up a dialog that allows you to choose what
synthesizer you wish to use. One of these options is no speech.

Hi Alex. Do you have to have jaws 9 for this to work as alt J does not have
any effect on my computer. I would like to shut the speech off in jaws, when
someone sighted is working on my computer, but I need for jaws to return
speech. I also need to know how to get it back again. Thank you so much for
your or anyone's help with this. I don't want to unload jaws. New member

Sorry, this isn't what he wants to do. He wants to mute speech and still
 use
his Braille display. He doesn't want to quit jaws.
To do this, hit alt j to bring up the jaws menu. Go down to the language
submenu, then choose change synthesizer, and enter on no speech.
 Cheers
