I've run the install as admin and changed the compatibility mode to xp

It says this program won't run under 64 bit.

I've been told it can be done, ideas?

Create file: c (Files with no extension or with an extension of brl,
brf, bfm or br? [any third character] will be grade 2 files. All
other files will be assumed to be Computer braille.)

so if your files have no extentions they are considered grade 2

computer braille.

Hi

One thing to try is to open the JAWS settings Center with JAWSkey+f6. Press
control+shift+d to open the default settings. Type Allow wave in the
control+shift+search
box. Then arrow down one time to the setting Allow wave files with software
synthesizers. If it's not checked, press space bar to check it. Then press
enter or tab to the ok button and press enter. You then have to restart
JAWS for the setting to take effect.

Hi Ann Marie & David;

Once you have Firefox open, you need to go to the Web Visum website &
download the Web Visum add-on.  To do this do the folowing;
1. Open Firefox & press control +L, for a new web page.
2. Type in, webvisum, & press control + enter.
3. You will be on the Webvisum home page. Now, arrow down & you wil hear
Jaws read the following.

Heading Level1Download the WebVisum Firefox extension.

Current version: 0.9

Once you click on the add on installation link below, Firefox will notify
you that it has prevented the add on from being installed and will prompt
you
to Allow the install to occur. Press ALT+A when you get this message and
allow the installation to proceed.

Now that you are ready,
Link, install the WebVisum extension.

Should you need any help with this procedure, please let us know via the
Contact Us page. The installation procedure will be simplified in the near
future.

4. When you click on the download link & follow the directions that are
given, the add-on installs within a few seconds. You need to close Firefox &
reopen it. After you open Firefox, press alt + T, for Tools, & arrow down
the list to see if you hear, Webvisum submenu. If Webvisum is there., the
webvisum add-on has been installed.

If you would like Webvisum to Log-in automatically do the following;
1. Open Firefox & press Alt + T, for tools.
2. Arrow down to webvisum submenu & press enter.
3. Arrow down 1 time to preferences & press enter.
4. You will be on the General page so, now tab through to make your
selections. Press the spacebar on okay to save your changes & close
preferences.

When you open the webvisum submenus you can down passed preferences to see
what other options are in here. After you open preferences, you can arrow
down to see what other options there are, other than General.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Hi, Mike.

That's right, but I think it works only if it's a commonly visited website
or one in your history. Let's see if I can summarize what we've discussed,
with some additional information that has come to mind.

1. Control-l brings up the edit field in which to type a Web address in both
IE and Firefox. Control-o does the same in IE but not FF. So using control-l
in both cases avoids confusion.

2. In Firefox, you can save yourself having to type the
http://www.
Prefix
and .com if you just write the Website name and press control-enter. This
shortcut works only for .com addresses.

3. In most cases, it isn't necessary to write
http://www.
Before the Website
address whether in IE or FF. However, it may be necessary to write www.
Before addresses that are rarely visited and/or aren't in your history.
Also, beware of addresses that don't begin http://, such as high security
websites.

Is that a fair summary?
Adrian

Hope this has helped. Take care.
Mike

Well I just did maintenance on my PC running Jaws 12 and XP Pro. I still
need to do a few more steps but needed to work on PC.
I notice that with FF one needs to type the entire URL name? Am I right
on
 that?
I tested freedom scientific because I figure their link would have all
 accessibility stuff.
I control+o and typed Freedomscientific.com and link not found. I tried
several and then realized I need to precede link name with
 http://www.freedomscientific.com
I went on other sites and Jaws was very clumbsy so I'd thought it could be
a
 mainntenance issue.
I did get Webvisum to work by typing alt+control+6 and Webvisum stated to
wait then infomation could be copied from clipboard. So FF6 worked for me
but I only need to use FF when I encounter

Hi all,

I do not know why but using jaws 12 latest and windows 7 whenever I try and get
out of a program I almost go into the nenu.

I have tried everything I can think of without sucess.

I have never had this issue with anyother version than the latest jaws

I don’t even know if this is a jaws issue or something else.

Thanks,

   Hi Janie and all.

Janie,

Thanks for your reply. I did as you said but not certain I found the right
check box. I will continue to work with it but have another question.

I cannot find out how to save a message I have written so when jaws crashes
as it does often I can go back and find it without it being sent.

I sure miss outlook express. As we often said in the marine corps this thing
is a cluster f--- up.

Try checking your spelling settings as this seems like the spell check is
used and when there are no more mistakes it will automatically send if the
check box is chosen this way.
To get to the spelling page do the following:
control shift o opens the options menus
control tab about 7 times to get to the spelling page and then tab from
there keeping in mind the choices!
Good luck

Hi all,

I use win 7, jaws latest. I had to type a long e mail and when done I tried
spell check. all went well until the spell check just quit and the message
was routed to sent items and was mailed.

When I found it in spent items I could only read the first paragraph and no
more. Where the whole thing went and why it was sent when I did not hit the
send button is a mystry to me.

Anyone ever have this issue, this is not the first time this has happened
with a long e mail.

There sure is. It's called Jarte, and it is fully compatible with JAWS. It
has a built-in spell checker and the ability to create and save templates,
among other features. And its menus are straightforward and easy to
navigate. I prefer it over MS Word 2007. Check it out:
